Polar Bear: Salmon Hunting

It's very unfortunate that Polar Bears were added in a rushed Development Stage where Mojang just wanted to push content quickly after the long waited 1.9 Combat Update.

I understand their intention was get this Update
(1.10) done and try to prevent Updates take long time to develop, but this decision came with some consequences which I consider the Polar Bear suffered badly, while we got recently Pandas with fancy and interesting Personalities and now Foxes with really intriguing AI.

Polar Bears still there as a closed Project with a flat and boring feeling,
I believe a little and closer look at them to improve some things (Just like Skeletons getting AI overhaul in 1.9) can make this aesthetic Mob interesting and serve properly as their main purpose, which is give the game more life aesthetically. Maybe adapt the new Fox Hunting-Fish mechanic can improve significantly the feeling that Polar Bears can give.

    Yeah, especially with a white-water addition that I’ve seen in the Gameplay Category (Hint: The salmon jump through the rapids!)

    Polar bears could lead the players to streams/ponds with higher chance to catch salmon

    I think something else would be cool;

    Polar bears aren't grizzlies - they don't eat salmon. And while adding seals to beach type biomes would be for the best, having polar bears be powerful predators of *all* mobs wiuld be next best.

    They should attack the player on sight too, and should deal a lot of damage and have a little more hp as well.

    Currently I agree that they are a useless mob.

    I very much agree with your idea and have been very interested in seeing. I really like the idea of using the fox mechanic for fish. I would just think it would be much more interesting if the polar bears used the fishing mechanic and rather than hunt the salmon entities, they fish like the fishing rod but only catch salmon. They they could feed they baby polar bears by dropping it and picking it up like the foxes. But yea this is defiantly something that is needed to spice up this bland mob

    They could ocasionally swim to the Ocean, dive their heads in, catch a salmon with their mouth, go back to the shore, and leave behind and drop leftover bones and raw fish on the ground after eating the fish in their mouth. This would give the players a reason to leave Polar Bears alone instead of killing them for food (they drop fishes).

    While they're at it, why not give Java edition a variety of Salmon sizes like with Bedrock.
