    /scoreboard players randomize <player> <objective> <min> <max>

    This is so simple to add, and would make a lot of things for mapmakers a LOT easier.

    Would be cool, especially since it is already a thing in Bedrock edition, so the idea itself isn't an automatic no.

    Yes please.. For example "/scoreboard players set @s example random[1..8]" -> Set the score example from @s to a random nuber between 1 and 8.

    If you only need two values (true/false) you can use the new predicates added in 1.15.

    However, I don't think this is a bad idea at all. The only way I could possibly think of that reproduces this using the current tools is using /loot to create an item with a random count, damage, or attribute modifier amount, then copying that amount to the scoreboard with /execute store ... run data get..., and then deleting the item, which would definitely work but is very clunky and inefficient.

    +1 from me, except don't limit it to scoreboard values. Instead, use an all purpose command /random that would return a value between a specified min and max, so that I would work for randomizing other containers for data as well.

    Not sure if you mean on java since I don't do commands on java but bedrock has had a random function on scoreboard for a good while.
