Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I think this is a good idea. Without this, is there a good way to get string if you are playing on peaceful with cheats off? I understand it comes from spiders generally (but there are no spiders in peaceful!). If lucky you can find some string in an abandoned mineshaft. Otherwise you may hope luck is with you from cat presents and fishing drops... but that isn't a reliable source.

I think that this would pretty much defeat the purpose of getting string from spider drops, webs and cat presents. IMO, it really doesn't make much sense to me that you can craft string into wool either, and usually wool is a lot easier to get even early in the game unless you can't find any sheep.

I think it's a good idea because it makes crafting recipes more consistent.

String isn't that valuable of an item, I can't see what the problem is with making it easier to obtain. It makes fishing rods and bows, both of which are pretty basic items that make up most crafters' inventories from the beginning. It makes cobwebs, which are useful, but then again why make it harder to get? Killing spiders is annoying for me even though I play regular difficulty and can do so with ease.
