Design:
The mob is invisible to the normal player. However, he looks a little bit like Gollum, with big eyes and slightly hunched way to walk.
Spawning:
Any forest biome during night
Attack:
Since he is invisible, the player will not notice know when they are within the range of a Shadowlurker as with other hostile mobs. Despite that, when the shadowlurker notices a target (player) and "enters" combat, he will not attack the player to begin with. Instead, during a random 3-7 second window, he will just make sounds that the target can hear. After that he will begin to sprint towards the player, showing intense natural walking particle effects (dirt, grass etc) as he is sprinting towards his target. Upon hitting the player, he will be able to be seen and sprint away from the player (where the player will be able to see him for a short few seconds of him sprinting away, where he turns invisible again). The process is then repeated, where it will make sounds and then attack.
A player with the night vision effect, will be able to see the mob briefly. Hence a good way if the player wants to hunt down this type of mob.
Drops:
Shadowlurker drops 0-1 Obscurities.
Uses for drops:
-
The Obscurities are used to brew invisibility potions.
-
Putting 4 obscurities around a piece of armor will make the armor "invisible". The player can still wear the armor and use its effects, but it is effectively invisible. Taking damage, will briefly suggest an outline of an armor for a short second. (Combining this with the invisibility potion will make for extra sneakiness without having to remove your armor. The player has to be careful as to not take damage as it will briefly reveal their position)
