Yes and having them as pets using seeds like parrots. And maybe adding a feather dropped from birds/chickens could give ths player a new banner type either called bird or flight which you can costumize onto a.banner.

I love this idea!  Maybe they could add birds of prey too.  Imagine hawks and vultures in the desert soaring high above, owls in the forest watching for prey at night, or eagles flying overhead in a mesa biome.  They could spot prey like rabbits or fish near the surface and swoop down!

Pelican should be quite big and spawn in beaches and catch fish. They should sit above the water and fly and drop fish when you kill them maybe they could be tamed with fish and catch fish for you

Different sized birds in all biomes, and different colors/songs depending on the biome you are in. Eggs laid by birds might serve a purpose to lure in other mobs. Birds can be "tamed" by carefully feeding them seeds, and like cats, they will go out during the day and return occasionally to the player. Otherwise, they might be important for the elytra or potions.

Sry, forgot something. Maybe some birds of prey could hunt things like fish and rabbit, and eat some while giving you some other items. Maybe even have a small chance of giving you a fishing treasure.

I think all bird should be tamable. Big birds like eagles, owls, and hawks could sit on your shoulder. If you tap on an animal such as a chicken, rabbit, or fish (something medium small), the eagle/hawk/owl could fly off your shoulder, carry them into the air, and drop them right in front of you, giving them fall damage and killing them in front of you, so you could easily collect the meat/loot.
Medium birds, such as macaws, seagulls, and toucans could collect fruit, seeds, and crops and bring them back to you.
Small birds, such as wrens, sparrows, swallows, and kingfishers could bring you fish and seeds.

Tiny birds, like hummingbirds, chickadees, and weebills could bring you seeds and honeycombs.
All birds that had been tamed by either fish, fruit, or seeds (depending on what they eat) should sit on your shoulder if given the command to.

Thanks if you take my comment into consideration! I love this idea, birds tamable or not.

On beach, they have a seagull skin, in black forest and swamps (with black Oak) crow/raven skin (or maybe a new mob who attack). We can maybe have rapaces than we can find in mountains which we can tame for throw it (maybe he can either kill smalls animals like rabbits, generic birds or just bring far items to you)

There should be a variant similar to geese, where they travel in v-shaped groups and fly into water. They should also get aggressive if you get too close to them/hurt them.

Maybe they could eat the seeds you seemed and you would need to afraiy them with a scarecrow

Someone mentioned birdhouses, and I think that could work really well. You could craft birdhouses that would have similar mechanics to beehives. You could then mine them and pick them up to transport the birds.

I feel like "Finch" would be a good name for this group of mobs, since common birds such as robins, jays, and crows are interesting enough to be their own mobs. Also, finches are found all over the world and have many different colors and patterns depending on the species.

It would be so cool if you found a magpi's nest with a % of being able to loot a shiny thing.

Owls nests could have a % chance of an enchanted book (owls are wise innit). Crows nests potions ingredients perhaps and so on with context and folklore specific loot that along with the birdsong and calls would do so much for immersion in the game.

Birds would be a great addition to Minecraft! I think that they could have bird nests where you could find bird eggs. Maybe these could be used to attract zombies, wolves, and foxes.

I think that the majority of birds should be ambient, like little songbirds that chrip in the background. However, falconry is a real thing, so i think that birds of prey should be tamable, using raw rabbit or chicken. They would attack like wolves and would sit on your shoulder. Finally, I think there should be a sort of firebird that lives in the nether. It would fall under the birds of prey category, so it would be tamable, using something like gold nuggets. These firebirds would be resistant to fire and lava. I think Minecraft needs more ambient, as well as a pretty that is fire resistant, as it is always sad when your wolf falls in lava. 😭

Yes to birdbaths and houses, also the types of birds that are inclouded should be like cardinals, Sparrows, Vultures, etc.  You could have diffrent colours like the parrots for like a chipping sparrow and a song sparrow, and like a river sparrow etc.  But not diffrent mob eggs, because there are like at least 1000 diffrent kinds of birds.(probobly more)

I think it would be nice if you could tame some variables of these birds like canaries or how people hunt with eagles and falcons. although I don't think they would do anything particularly special except sing every Minecraft moring and would probably help a lot with the very low-quality ambience going on in the game right now

That should be a completely separate update. It should be called the Aerial Update.

Terrific suggestion, the overworld really needs more ambience and variety.

I wouldn't want the birds to be any specific species, I love that you just said generic birds. Having birds as just different variants under that name, allows developers to create unique to minecraft mobs that can be further developed later on. I don't want more animal from real-life, I want something that is just Minecraft.

In terms of taming, I think they should be like dolphins, just ambient creatures. Maybe you could feed them with seeds and fly off to bring you another random seed/item. Feed a bird and it comes back with melon seed in its mouth, that'd be a cool dynamic.

    Again, lovely idea.

I like this idea a lot. I think that the should be similar to tropical fish in the that they have different color variants and shapes. I also think they should be mostly for decoration and the atmosphere the player is in. I would love to have a fantasy forest with tiny birds chirping and flying in the sky. I also think there should be leaves that float calmly in the wind and, the sound of leaves shaking in trees during storms.

I would love it if minecraft had crows , i love crows and would love a pet one in minecraft . It would be really cool if you could tame it and take it on adventures , it could bring you gifts like cats do and could fly next to you when you use Electra wings . Maybe it could also drop cool feathers you could use to keep monsters a way using a special enchantment. I would really love it if they add more birds . Please minecraft add more birds ! Thanks :)

Ravens or Crows would be cool. they could also eat eggs and meat laying on the ground. they could gather in larger groups when it gets dark and then fly off somewhere to sleep like their RL counterpart.

Perhaps they could have different typed of feathers to make new feather blocks you could place a note block on a feather block then the note block would sound like the bird the feathers used to make the block are from
