Great idea.  I personally think that every mob should have a unique ability in expert mode.  The bosses should have multiple.

The idea is great but if they decide to add it they should add it on bedrock edition too cause this edition lack's on certain things like hardcore mode

I think this is a great idea, minecraft is so easy once you have played it enough times it becomes routine to kill mobs, however I think its good these upgrades are in a new mode, letting players get a grip with the game with normal (not too dissimilar to Terraria)

For expert mode, I think the hunger bar saturation to return to the way it was before 1.11, when it depleted faster. I agree with most of your mob related ideas, though I don't agree with all mobs being able to jump over more than one block. Spiders should definitely be able to jump over fences though. Spiders should also climb over walls when chasing a player even when a player has disappeared from their sight. Lastly, with expert mode I'd really recommend both the Wither and Ender Dragon be made even harder, as most players who would want to play this can probably handle them easily enough with their current difficulty, and if other mobs are made tougher the big bosses might as well be too.

I think most of these would be good even vanilla dificulties, expecially the path finding, and mobs with these special abilities could randomly spawn

This makes so much sense and really should have been added into the game a long time ago as eventually survival mode gets too easy. sure you can achieve things like this via mods but they are all really janky and an official expert mode would be amazing.

This seems pretty fair for an expert mode. Hard and Hardcore mode mainly focus on the hunger bar. If I may add I think it would be cool to have a mob other than a player to use a shield. I am thinking of the wither skeleton in particular. They already have swords so why not make them tougher by increasing combat use with a shield. This could possibly even be used as a new boss idea.

This looks freaking awesome and a lot of fun! I've been playing Minecraft since 2011 so it would be fun to have a cool new challenge!

This would be awesome to have. I especially love the ideas of each mob having their own abilities... while some may be a bit grandiose, if it could be done this would absolutely be something I would want in my game.

I think this is a good idea.

I feel on this expert mode a few more additions could be found enticing players to play it.
1st: Phantom jockeys. I feel it would have a 0.15© chance spawn to have a creeper riding a phantom. To make them a bit more challenging. When they dive, creepers would ignite and blow wait until near the player before blowing up.
2nd: Spiders and Cave spiders should have a ghost body, just creepy little glowing floating red eyes until you are attacked.
For a comedic relief from expert mod, a pig riding a phantom. Piggie wants to fly you know.

Seriously, updooted mainly because you make this an actual option. Thank you for caring!

I love this, ever since they started dumbing down the difficulty i.e. the Creeper's behavior, I've been wanting them to make mobs have smarter A.I. to improve difficulty and make them feel more alive, like zombies and skeletons climbing ladders, Creepers side-stepping again (though dashing towards you like this is excellent), mobs being alerted by arrows shot near them, wolves and spiders waiting outside your house for a bit if you make them angry before rushing in, etc. All of these ideas would be fantastic additions. I hope they add this mode.

Suggestion 1:  All good but the sprinting.

Suggestion 2:  Would be great for all difficulties (without the sprinting)

Suggestion 3: I agree with only a few. Beasts, Slimes, Spiders, Zombie Pigmen, and Skeletons Sound fun.

I also disagree with the rest. Zombies, Creepers, Drowned, Endermen, Elder Guardians, Phantoms and Illusioners.

I think that Zombies and Drowned grabbing you would just be annoying after a while.

Creepers jumping is just... It's a Creeper. It's sneaky, you're not supposed to see it coming. it would be cool if it tried to camouflage between green objects.

I don't think Endermen breaking blocks would be such a great idea...

    Illusioners sound too overpowered

Phantoms... It would just be double annoying.

Elder Guardians sound kinda overpowered too.

I like some of the ideas, but I think that I like them more for all difficulties than "Expert mode". You could try posting each suggestion as a separate idea from each other, modifying it for each difficulty. Remember, It's still Minecraft, let's keep it like that ( ´ ▽ ` )

An addition to this to give it that extra push towards expert could be bull ai for cows. Tjis can randomly be determined and they will have horns and will attack the player with charges. Similarly chickens could attack a player if they hurt it, and if you kill too many, they attack out of fear. Horses and donkeys could attack by kicking you away, effectively stopping you from harming them when they push you away.

I love this and I would like to see this introduced. (I would change the Zombie idea though. Them grabbing you is cool but mouse shake isn't. Just have us attack it until it gives up). Also, Creepers should try to camouflage with the environment, not light up and charge. They are sneaky things. Other than this, I wouldn't have the mobs sprinting, and also, they shouldn't be able to open doors and trapdoors (I'm not even sure they should see through glass. It does make sense, but it compromises several previous builds)

The other problem here is silverfish. I already hate the guys because of their destruction capabilities. I hate everything that can risk highly damaging my builds, and Silverfish are the worst (which is why I hoped termites wouldn't be announced, but still), even more than Creepers. Please let the silverfish be where I can see them and kill them.

I really do agree with adding this into the game, it could be a little resource intensive, but I would like to think that the extra resources utilized to have a more challenging mob ai and a more challenging Minecraft would be very much so worth it.

I think one of the things Every Minecraft player remembers is their first night in Survival mode being scared to death at the sudden spawning of all these different monsters and having absolutely no idea what to do but run and hide, and god forbid if one of those monsters was a Creeper sneaking up behind them xD. That is one of the best experiences in Minecraft and it is extremely hard to re-create that feeling now, knowing all the tricks and mob intricacies, even going into Hardcore doesn't quite do it.

Mojang, please make an un-forgiving Expert mode that will scare me to death on my 1st night, and scare me to death on my 1000th night. Make me scared to fight 1 mob let alone a horde of them.

also make it any projectiles shot at the player (arrows, blaze/ghast fireballs, ect) 'phase' or don't damage mobs that may be in the way (what i mean is mobs don't attack each).
Also witches may heal other mobs around them too

I think that mobs should also look more scary in Expert mode. It would really help add a lot more depth to how hard it FEELS as well as is

    Hi

I very much love this idea. I have felt for a while that, being a survival game, Minecraft needed a harder level to it, harder than Hard mode but different than Hardcore mode. This idea is great especially, because it doesn’t ‘ruin’ Minecraft. It just changes it’s base mobs, preserving the game as a whole while still increasing the difficulty immensely.

    You have my vote

sidenote for Nebulacrity - I’m not sure if this is where I should be putting this, but it’s a continuation of your idea so I don’t see anywhere better. I made something called the Insanity effect, and someone commented that it should be a hard mode only thing. I’ve though about it and I agree with that statement. If you’re interested on expanding upon your original expert mode idea, check out my post. Great job though :)

Allowing mobs to spawn closer to the player is another factor which could be effected. A cloud of smoke/dust/light (depending on the non) could appear for a few seconds where the mob will spawn to give the player a warning. Additionally, there could be a mechanic to interact with the cloud which would cancel the spawning.

I really like this idea, i have to say that while im not the best player, modern minecraft feels way easier than it used to. ive gone back to beta and the mobs were much harder (mostly because they could hit farther but still) i would love to see smarter mobs with cooler abilities, it would be an awesome mode to have in the game cause it would help bring some new life to the mobs that we have come accustom to
