So far the buildup for the inclusion of the Pillagers into the game is fine, but what I'm really interested in is expanding their ranks a little bit. As it feels odd to have a mad butler wandering around a group of bandits, so why not add in a different Melee illager to the patrols? Lets call them the Marauder, a synonymous term for a pillager.
They would have 24 hitpoints (12 units of health like their ranged counterparts)
They would have a sword swipe attack that deal 4 points of damage on easy, 6 points of damage on normal, and 8 points of damage on hard.
They also would carry a shield and have it drawn while either approaching from range, or being approached. They would charge in and attack the player if his/her back is turned, and likewise would keep their shield drawn on hand consistently if they are facing someone with a ranged weapon.
Similar to the pillager, they have a chance to drop damaged versions their equipment upon being slain. Along with items that would likely have been taken from Villagers, such as food and emeralds. If one is carrying a banner, they would drop that as well.
