    Some more ideas:

    1.  small pieces of slime (Like snow appear.)

    2. mobs have a slimed texture to it.

I feel as though that's way too much slime to be able to mine... Even at a half % chance of per slime chunk... I love the idea of giving the slimes more attention and a slime den would be an amazing addition, just maybe "slime covered stonebricks"? New slime covered blocks, just not the excessive amount of slime as in that picture... Slime is awesome, and I'd love to see it used in more blocks =] (maybe different colored slimes for biomes or from dyes?)

Maybe these could spawn more frequently below swamps, and removing the surface spawns! And there could be a ultra-rare slime cave with all this but huge. One more thing: skulls should spawn in the walls behind slime blocks, it looks like the adventurer got stuck. Great idea! I would use goop for a lot.

I love this idea! Very creative and gave slimes more background. I like the idea that the goop is thick substance. I would even add that if you go more than one block deep into gooo you can immediately start suffocating. I would argue this can replace slime chunks all together and make goop and the other slimey blocks an effective substitute for spawning slimes.

    ideas:

    • if you put goop in a furnace, you get slimeballs and return the bucket
    • if you put a sponge in goop, the goop dries but the sponge gets dirty and you need to put water on it to clean it

i think itd be nice if we made goop into an obtacle of sorts

I like this idea. Perhaps if lava touches goop, a slimy cobblestone/slimy stone/slimy obsidian will be created. Unlike mossy cobblestone, these slimy stones act like a slime block while maintaining most of the properties of their non-slimy counterparts.

Goop could glow, taking away the need for lanterns and thus making it look not manmade.

the lanterns shouldnt be there like you said

"The idea here is that these dens are places the slimes have made into nests of sorts - they haven't been constructed, they're just pre-existing caves that have been covered in slime on account of their occupants. As such, these structures would have no apparent architecture, and would likely not contain any loot chests in the way other underground structures do."

Maybe there could be some glow lichen as a replacement for the lanterns

This would have been a great idea for caves and cliffs. Lets hope it'll come in the Wild Update (1.19).

How about adding slime layers. Similar to snow layers. Would be kewl. Usuage wise ig there amount of bouncyness is depended on how high the stack of layers is

I don't know if it's possible, but it would be fantastic if the Goop was non-newtonian like custard -

It would behave as if you always had frost-walker: when an player/non-slime-mob touches the top of the goop it spawns a lily-pad-like surface (just a thin shell that cannot be picked up even with silk touch) that de-spawns after about half a second, at which point anything on top of it falls in.
This would let you sprint across the top quickly with little to no penalty (maybe even bounce like a normal slime block if you fall in from above), but if you just walk you'll get about a block in before you sink.

    I've been thinking a lot about slime variants, too, and one I particularly like the idea of is;

    Fisher Slime -
A mostly-normal Slime, alongside the standard attack it can fire a string of slime to snare and reel-in targets as if using a fishing rod.

When idle, Fisher Slimes attempt to find blocks above water/goop sources. They rappel up to them and hang in wait for a target to come close enough to reel in, and only then jump down to begin attacking. While hanging they occasionally also drop a lure as per normal fishing: they hold (and digest) anything they catch.

I think this mob would very gel well with these goop ponds, especially if the slimes can swim freely in the goop (being hooked into the middle of one would be a nightmare).
It'd also be great if slimes moved slightly faster on slime-stone and could climb it freely (even hanging from the roof) for the same reason

Another idea to go with this:

    Congealed Slime

Congealed slime is a display block that is functionally the same as an Armor Stand, but visually looks like a slime block with items floating inside. The slime-block is hidden when submerged in Goop.

They spawn in slime dens, most often in Goop, and generally hold one or two pieces of high-quality Armor and/or a Tool/Weapon. They sometimes spawn with one of the following: Bone, Arrow, Torch, Water Bottle, Emerald, Raw Metal, Shield, Name Tag, Potion, or Enchanted Book. They rarely include a Skeleton Head. The Congealed Slime has a few poses that are randomly picked from on spawn; unlike the Armor Stand the pieces may be broken apart as if they are individually floating.

Breaking the Congealed Slime without silk touch destroys the block.

    - This gives you a reason to seek out these structures above and beyond the slime balls, and might tempt you to take a dip to retrieve another adventurer's loot.

Coming back to this with a thing that played on my mind last night:

    Brine Pools

If we were to get Blue Slimes that live in or below oceans (like the tropical ones), it would be great to have a variant Slime Den that is based on real-life Brine Pools.

The Briny Goop would sit in a small depression at the bottom of the ocean - a lake under the sea - and, while no mobs would survive long in it other than slimes, mussels and various fish would spawn around the edge of it.

This idea is so good and Minecrafty, it would be great if it was just added as it is in this feedback.

Personally, I think that instead of adding the slime caves as a structure, it should be more of a biome. With the current new biome system, making the slime chunk an entire biome would makes much more sense and help improve on the caves. Not only that, they can spawn more often under swamp biomes so it makes sense lore wise

Although I think this is excessive, I do agree that slime-chunks are outdated, and feel like they should have been replaced with something that makes more sense. It doesn't make logical sense for slimes to just spawn in some random chunks, it feels like an unfinished feature. I also like the idea of slimeballs having more uses though, but goop and some of the other features are a little too much. Perhaps when it rains there is a chance for slimes to spawn anywhere in the world?
