But is the tick that controls fire the same tick that controls plant growth?

The fertility spell is supposed to grow plants faster, in 5 sec. the plants should grow so faster that you will lose the show if you blink and if you are fast enough you can harvest and plant some of them to be more efficient, sorry if I wasn't explicit on my idea.

You mean planting sugar cane on mycelium, stone or so?

Yes, I do mean that.  They'd stop growing once the spell stops though.

the block ticks are random ticks within chunks sections and it controls many events https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tick#Block_tick

And plant seeds on sand or stone too... nice idea, the utility is very specific but is useful for who don't have dirt (considering player is on custom worlds). Fertility is a good spell.

To balance lets set a cost for casting the spells, what should it be? consume experience points? Or consume specific ingredients every time you want to use it? Both?

Perhaps.  Originally I was thinking that the crafting recipe for a spell book/wand should require very rare items, but I like your idea better.  Should it consume lapis lazuli like enchantments do, or should there be another gemstone (How about rubies?) that is specifically used for spell casting?

The lectern is a block specific for the spells it's interface may be similar to the enchanting table, you put the spell book in there and pick a random spell, exchanging experience points and specific ingredients for each spell, once you fulfilled the requirements, the imbuing process will start, similar to the brewing of a potion. This may fits well with the magic brothers.

The additions you made are awesome! What about a brightness spell, using glow stone and with the opposite effect of the darkness spell (level light 15)? I still thinking about the end rod being used as the magic wand, though.

I think witches should not cast spells, they would be so OP. Maybe a special witch spellcaster without potions (only self-use potions).

    What's OP?  Is it a Minecraft-specific term?

Do end rods have any other purpose?

By the way, I have not made any "addictions".

Am sorry, I wanted to mean "additions".

    "OP" means overpowered, too powerful.

The end rod is a light source already. I change my mind about it be used as the spell staff. Add a new item does more sense indeed.

I agree.  Maybe there should be a wizard mob that casts spells.

Will the spell staff break after the use or will it lose the spell and one durability point?

    I'm not sure.

I think about losing some experience points (not necessarily levels) as a cost instead of losing the staff or the spell. And using the spell again without waiting a "cooldown time" would increase the cost. Just to prevent spamming.

There should be a way to summon evocation fangs with the item

This would be this would be so cool! But mebe it should be that u can also give books the same effect and craft them at the lecterns too and have spell tomes, like a rod but a book, and it can be held in off hand and stuff and maybe tome spells can affect players and creatures instead of environments( like sending an energy bolt to hit a monster.)

If there’s one area of minecraft where there’s a lack of features, it’s magic. For the player, the only commonly used magic system is enchanting. Potions are niche, and tipped arrows aren’t worth the effort. Solution? The scroll system. Scrolls are difficult to get, though far more applicable than most potions.

Scrolls are used for casting spells, and each one has 50 uses, along with an experience cost. Scrolls would be made with a Scroll Table, a new crafting system. The table has four slots, one for a spell tome - determines effect, one for 1-3 amethysts - determines scroll power, one for paper - base item, one for scroll - resulting item. Spell tomes would be obtained rarely from enchanting books, or as loot in End chests. Effects would include fireballs, damaging and slowing snowballs, armor reducing, health drain, and summoning spells, like a friendly vex equivalent. Amethysts would be found on the underside of end islands, in small veins. This would make amethysts and therefore scrolls difficult to get, but the utility of scrolls would make them well worth the effort of obtaining. Inputting more amethysts would increase the power of the crafted scrolls.

With the Caves and Cliffs Update introducing amethyst, I think it would be better if staff had infinite uses, but they had a cooldown and required amethyst shards to use, making amethyst some sort of SP or mana. That would give an incentive to return to geodes.
