This would also be a cool thing to have access to in vanilla, honestly.  But I can see why it would be especially awesome for map makers.

Thank you! It's an idea I've had for a while but never shared. Figured I better get it out there or my voice would never be heard.

Creating the dimension should require the player to be in creative, but the player can travel to it in survival.

@Bilbo Baggins Agreed. I think "Cheats" should need to be active in the world. Does turning a world to creative automatically turn cheats on? I can't remember.

    It does in Minecraft PE.

I certainly hope so. It would make it so much easier for Addon/map making. You only have so many laws you can put forth in one world. Sometimes it feels like it would be so much easier to just link a new dimension with a completely different set of rules. A different sky, look, and feel. With this addition, I could make the player feel like they have countless infinite worlds to explore, all intricately connected. From deeper oceans to new planets, the ability to add multiple dimensions would change everything! All we'd be missing is alternate textures for each armor/tool and a blank mob with access to all existing behaviors and animations.

If nothing else, the only things I truly feel need to be added are Custom dimensions, blank customizable mobs, and damaged textures. 3D skins coming back would be nice too but one battle at a time.

Thanks to everyone above for your support. This is something I truly hope to see come to Minecraft. With this and a few missing commands me and others will finally have all the tools to let our creativity flow without limitation.

    See you on the horizon!

This will probably be possible with the modding API coming to Bedrock Edition in the near future.

We need this as mapmakers T.T

The sad thing about this website is that there are not many mapmakers around here, feedbacks like this, and command feedbacks dont get the votes they diserve

@WolfFormel56 I couldn't agree more. I honestly feel that the average player doesn't fully grasps just how much custom content from map/Addon creators keeps Minecraft alive.

This would also help Vanilla-Server Owners, as there would be less lag if this was implemented.

    Seriously hopes this gets added!

I support the concept of mapmakers being able to add dimensions, the way they can add recipes and advancements to the game with datapacks, but I think before we get there, there are some other things we need to be able to do first.

Before creating a dimension, there would have to be (or, rather, Minecraft devs would refuse to add it without) the ability to:

    • Add new blocks, mobs, and items, as well as the behaviors of the blocks and items. (mob behaviors can be changed with add-ons in Bedrock Edition).
    • Define biomes.
    • Control world generation.
    • Define structure generation.
    • The ability to define the skybox and/or fog, and how they change as time passes.

Again, if all that is needed for now is one extra blank dimension, I'm sure a modder somewhere would be willing to help...
