Looking at the game's Redstone block, it seems somewhat strange on one hand that redstone dust can be crafted into a solid, compact block. Shouldn't redstone dust at raw compilation become a gravelly, loose block?
This brings me to a suggestion for a redstone block variant: the redstone dust block.
The new block could achieve two purposes:
- Could make for a little more logical crafting recipe out of 9 redstone dust (currently used for the compact redstone block), and could be further made into the redstone block already ingame
- Could use falling sand mechanics for an inventive new way to make redstone circuits/contraptions
What makes the redstone dust block different from the redstone block, would be that it falls when sitting on air, like sand or gravel. But what if the new block could still give off a redstone signal while in its falling sand form? This could make for another interesting innovation of redstone usage, as shown below:
*imagine those repeaters on the floating cobblestone are giving signals as the block falls past them. :)
While the new redstone dust block would replace the crafting recipe for 9 redstone dust, the new block could be made into the old redstone block by:
- Smelting (this would compact the redstone dust into the solid redstone block, maybe like how sand is smelted into glass)
- or Placement/Dropping into Water (like concrete. Could also give this method of creating hard concrete from concrete powder more continuity and smooth implementation ingame)
