Support More Controllers
In Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, one of the options in the game is to use a controller to control the character and the UI. However, using a controller different than an Xbox controller has compatibility issues with the game. For example, I use a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. In-game, the joystick's top and bottom limits do not line up with what the game expects, and it makes me unable to walk forward at full speed or sprint. The rest of the button inconsistencies can be fixed using in-game customization. Other people have trouble using the Dual-Shock controllers or third-party controllers in addition to the Pro Controller. I have tried using Windows' built-in controller calibration software which fixed the input problems with the joysticks, but Minecraft still didn't change according to the calibration. This most likely means the controller calibration in Minecraft was built from the ground-up for the Xbox controller. Before I bash on this decision, at least I can use a controller in the first place, so thank you. It is not enough to only allow one controller. This decision has "buy an Xbox controller" written all over it. That decision removes options from the user and is anti-consumer, greedy, and unnecessary. Sorry to get so heated, but anti-consumer practices are unacceptable and tolerating them decreases the quality of the product or service. For the sake of your consumers, add this feature.
Disclaimer: This is based on the assumption that encouraging the purchase of a specific controller is a motive for the compatibility issues that occur when not using an Xbox controller. If that assumption is not true, I change my point to "By golly gosh, wouldn't it be nice to use any controller I want in a game that I love without any issues?"
Again, sorry to be so negative. I'm passionate about stopping anti-consumer practices, and this situation stands out as one.
