    I think that would be too op and it just wouldn't fit the game. The concept of being able to acquire the spawner does fit the game, but the concept of using silk touch isn't. They should add like an OP treasure enchantment.

    What you should add is that you get one monster spawner egg when you collect the monster spawner

    I think this would be a great idea, just perhaps not with Silk Touch. It should be capable of collecting a Monster Spawner, but perhaps it is with a rare recipe to make the item that collects it. Once you have this item created then when you attempt to collect the spawner there is a 50% chance to get a Spawn Cage or the Egg that is contained. Perhaps even a chance that it just breaks. There should be some trade off of gain versus reward.

    This is quite a good idea. Everybody says it's overpowered, but I just don't see it being much more than a convenience, since mob grinders already exist anyway. But quite a convenience it would be, for sure. Having your own supply of zombies/blazes/cave spiders/skeletons/silverfish on-hand would be nice, and it would double as an additional treasure for raiding a dungeon.

    The NBT is memorized, but unless you're in creative or a server op, spawners are forced to pig type when placed. This should be changed in my opinion.

    Silk touch spawner pickup can be added in 1.14+ with a single block loot table in a datapack. But unless the permissions are changed, spawn eggs are also required to change the spawner once placed.

    Being able to control every aspect of your base, including the location of a spawner, would give players a lot of control and freedom. Mojang should lean into this aspect of the game, the farming and grinding of items and mobs, its half of why its so great. I would say a good compromise is having it be a gamerule a player could turn on or a server owner could toggle. Giving it an NBT tag would allow us to cheat in a specific spawner, for creative and adventure map making. MC has been heading in an increasingly modular direction for years, letting players customize their game as they see fit. I dont see the issue of moving a spawner up to the surface, 30 or 40 blocks from its original y location. Some even spawn on the surface or above sea level. It would honestly encourage exploring as players would want to collect each type of spawner, and maybe use them to make their own dungeons.

    I would even settle for collecting them as a nonfunctioning trophy item. Its a beautiful block, I would at least like to build with it, instead of being forced to incorporate a live spawner in my build "in situ". Let us flex mojang!
