    Well, it makes it consistent, we have brown mushrooms, red mushrooms, brown mushroom blocks, red mushroom blocks, and red mooshrooms, but no brown mooshrooms. It's the consistency and the variety that counts.

    I would be fine with this if more mobs got varying textures along with the mooshroom (thus, a balance of consistency and variety)

    I think there should just be two colors of mooshroom: brown and red.  They should come from the same spawn egg and be breedable.

    In terms of coloring, I think the Brown Mooshroom should mainly be a creamy light brown color, with dark brown spots and the mushrooms on top.  Make sure that the color scheme contrasts enough to be interesting.

    Well, because someone asked for brown mooshrooms in minecon earth, and one of the java developers loved the idea. (and it makes a lot of sense, because there are giant brown mushrooms in the mooshroom island) I think thisi would eventually be added :)

    I think this request should actually be tied to the ability of a resource pack to apply "variant skins" to items. Villagers are now Biome tagged. A resource pack needs some way to supply the variants for each biome. For *BLOCK* positions, Optifine is able to supply "grass variants" so that BDCraft has clover grass that appears consistent for people using the same BDCraft texture pack for the same locations. This is also true of displaying variant ladder textures. Some of the variant ladder textures show broken or missing rungs. On the same server, a person would see the same rung missing in the same place. Optifine allows us to have variant entities, such that creepers are shaded according to the biome they appear. "Snow" creepers, "Sand" creepers, very dark colored creepers in caves. We can't see these variants without Optifine.

    Why not allow for a Vanilla system that will let texture packs show variant textures for brown Mooshrooms, Biome villagers, or whatever else the resource pack is willing to supply (or may already be supplying for Optifine)?

    The point for this specific thread is for Brown Mooshrooms, but I would like a look a more generalized "item/ entity variant" system for resource packs that can do the trick. What about biome specific cows? What about a way to handle biome specific chick-duckins, or "ducks" born in one biome, "chickens" in another, but handled with a variant tag and by texture pack?

    There has to be a better, more general way to handle a "Brown Mooshroom" than having to code for it from scratch.

    i mean all you would have to do relly is just take the mooshroom's model and ai and change it's skin other than that do some things with comands and boom it's in.

    I have always wanted a brown mushroom mob, but I don't think it should necessarily be a mooshroom. A brown mushroom pig or chicken was more along the lines I was thinking.

    This would be fun, but it definitely doesn't need its own spawn egg. The mushroom spawn egg should just have a 50% chance of spawning either one.

    I think I’m down for more mobs varieties in Minecraft, sure why not! 😀

    Red Mooshrooms need a friend to accompany them in their isolated islands. 😆

    Brown Mooshrooms are now in the game, but they still don't have their own spawn egg. Also normal mooshrooms still need to be renamed to Red Mooshrooms.

    Why is this still on the site? Brown Mooshrooms have already been implemented.

    that is a horrible mob unless they are hostile a can effect you with a potion
