seahorses are my mums favourite animal :) I think that would be great... also jellyfish to add a bit more danger to the ocean.

It seems my suggestion for giant sea-horse mounts was deemed "too similar" to this suggestion that is asking for tiny uninteractive passive mobs. In my opinion, "seahorse" shouldn't be enough for my idea to be rejected. I'd like to see sea-horses like the ones you mention, but I don't think my own suggestion for giant rideable seahorses should have been deleted. Why do I bring it up here? To ask your opinion. Do you think the idea of seahorses that are big and can be mounted is different enough from this to be its own suggestion?

I agree with WaitingBaker26.  Maybe instead of a seahorse, it could be a hippocampus, which is a greek creature that looks like a sort of mer-horse.  Maybe they could come in different colors for the horse and fish parts.  That would really make it interesting.

They sound like they would be useful as a potion ingredient.

Shayla Waller I will have to disagree (amicably) with your disagreement. This add on may get two birds with one stone. Chests on boats are far too easy of a mechanic (we would just fish all day), a Llama does not fare well on open seas & a Hippocampus (HC) is essentially a mer-horse; a rose of a sea-horse by another name.
I like the ideas of taming them with a good deal of seaweed/kelp, variable-stats/saddles/breeding on par with horses & the possibility of a chest added to an equipped saddle (might be asking too much.) However, given the pure raw awesomeness of such an addition, you would only find 2-3 HC's swimming around Ocean Monuments. It would take a lot of time to get one tamed & back home, let alone two!
Edit: But as for specifically Sea Horses, they would make a lovely aesthetic amidst the reefs.

What WaitingBaker26 and aernado said is actually good ideas for the first mountable sea mob. They could be made that they can dive deep into the ocean and while be mounted they give off a water breathing effect. It would be good to add another new mob as a foe to the seahorses/hippocampus such as a shark or even giant crabs.

Yeah honestly an underwater mount would be awesome.  Giant kelp forests seem like a fitting habit for a mysterious mythical sea creature.

How about GIANT SEAHORSES that you can rise under water to move 2x sprinting speed?

Seahorses can be a good bet for the game.
They would be more useful for riding than adding it in its normal form as it would only serve as ornament
Currently the only mount we can use in the sea is the skeleton horse
Thus the seahorse is slightly smaller than the horse, with the same characteristics but with different size, color and behavior as it is a sea animal.
Adding the seahorse as a serious mount is a great option given the limited number of mounts in the game.
Serious also a differential of what we have in real life and serious plus the face of the game
I already see blue horses with flippers in the ocean

I don't think they should be rideable. And I completely disagree with whoever said everything added should be useful. It's a game and games are supposed to be fun. Although it'd be nice if they had uses it would still be an amazing update to the game if they didn't. I love the hippocampus idea. I love mythical creatures and mythology. Though this should be discussed in a different thread it would be an amazing addition

@fernando galian's Whistle Horse is the best suggestion on here. It causes you to dance (rotate when singing)! And you can make a potion from it causing mobs to dance as well.

There's a resource pack by someone called In_Nova that turns large tropical fish into seahorses, and the model is cool. If this gets implemented, it should be somewhat based on that

Find them in Kelp forests and Coral reefs. Breed 2. One sea horse drops multiple eggs and the other one picks them up. the 1 who picked them up keeps the eggs for 5-9 in-game days. Releases the baby Sea horses and the player can tame just one baby for all the babies 2 go with the player. and when they grow up the player can attach leads to 4 of the Sea horses. Press a key/ button/screen 2 tell the Sea horses to Go. U can ride them like a land horses. and when u want 2 stop the sea horses just Press a button/key/screen 2 stop them. My idea.

That's so cute! But as a load of the comments have said we definitely need something else to these mobs. I for one am so up for a Hippocampus type mob that you can tame and ride. I see them being loads of different colours! I feel like they should have different personalities. Some run away from you and hide in water caves. This means that you have a chance of drowning as you're trying to catch up to it to tame it. Then some, maybe, try to drown you. Like they're more vicious, like a wild horse trying to throw you off, but instead they hold you under the water. This gives them an extra level of challenge. I think you should tame them with something on land as it would make sense that they would then trust you as you've given them something that they're unable to get themselves. I can also see them being a bit like Sirens and singing whale-like beautiful melodies that'll lure an unsuspecting player to them and maybe giving a potion effect called something like drowsiness that's a mixture of slowness, mild nausea and mild blindness. I feel like they'd drop their scales, which can then be used to brew the drowsiness potion, and/or leather. I also think they have a very low chance of dropping a heart of the sea (even though I don't really want to see farms for them but I do think we need a way to get these items that's easier than just exploring). I think they should spawn in coral reefs, kelp forests and iceberg areas. As well as Ocean Monuments and, rarely, Ship-wreaks.

Maybe there can be giant seahorses alongside this. I love seahorses, and they should be about the same size as a vex, but maybe you could tame and ride giant, rare ones?

I was thinking about this earlier! Seahorses are so enchanting, I think they would be a beautiful addition to the game. They could maybe have the same colour variations as axolotls do, where there are blue, pink, yellow and brown ones (forgive me if I have missed out a colour). They should be passive and if you are heartless enough to attack one, they should take 4 hits to be killed. I read online that seahorses change colour to blend in with their surroundings in an act of self-protection; I'm thinking this may be too complex for the game, but more research would have to be done to get this idea off the ground.

    Amazing suggestion, props to you!

It might be a good addition to reefs. As they are, reefs aren't very special

If they're larger than their real-life counterparts like bees then they would make for a good ridable mob for underwater.
