Maybe copper as a new metal. For example Redstone + copper = Restone lines which can be placed underwater and on walls.

With Copper now being confirmed to be in Minecraft it’d be awesome to have Copper tools.

With copper having been announced I feel like the features in this suggestion still fit extremely well. Copper makes a great intermediary tier between stone and iron and most importantly stone should lose the ability to mine iron.

With the extended progression system present in 1.17 caves the addition of a new intermediate material tier would help extend gameplay potential and ultimately allow for expanded 'tiered' progression.

I'm not too sure about copper becoming weaker underwater however I wouldn't mind either way.

To expand on the progression side of things I think copper should not become an intermediary between stone and iron but should instead entirely inherit iron's current stats. Copper gets 250 durability, iron gets 500. Diamond is still 3x better than iron in this case and damage values and mining speeds for iron and onwards gets increased too to allow for copper to fit in nicely. Iron should also become rarer and copper should gain iron's current rarity as iron is incredibly common as of currently. This adds a whole new progression tier that I think will fit well with the new cave biomes and more progression-based underground.

Guys, please check out my post called "copper ore needs a reskin"! I'm doing everything I can to make sure copper ore gets a malachite reskin that it deserves. Most of you seem to know about copper and minerals, so you should understand why I'm going for this idea.

TheRedRazor5112 I really really hope they do that with copper and iron. I feel like it would be such a huge change to survival (especially speedruns), and I think minecraft lost it's survival aspect during these years. This is a much needed feature for survival and im all for it
