There should be a way to track it and have it be a meteor chest with special loot and armor

And maybe when you see the shooting star you will get luck effect like you're making a wish to the star?

An update night sky texture in general would be a very nice addition to the new textures. Since stars and planets are so far away, they won't have to be as blocky as they are right now too.

Making the stars in general better would help in the visual aspect of the game. So more power to this post!

Looking directly at a shooting star gives you luck status effect.

adding more stars and maybe even a blocky galaxy would help a make the night just a bit more enjoyable.

Also with shooting stars, it gives you two times of whatever your crafting on a crafting table for 3-7 minutes! Of course, this would make shooting stars have to be a bit rare).

Maybe a tag-along item could be an astral map.

Addition; You should be able to pick up the shooting stars and be able to craft brighter torches(like x1.5 or x2.0 times as bright as a normal torch and can be crafted with 1 shooting star and 1 blaze rod) and you should be able to do the same with a glowstone-like block. I dont know I just feel like that would be a good idea

After seeing one should be a slight luck increase by a small amount and for a set time like 30 mins or something

Great Idea, would love to see it done. Perhaps there could be a way to connect the likelyhood of meteorlogical events to actual irl events using the server/clients time/date setting. example: early August there would be an uptick in meteor showers above a certain normal threshold. (Perseid showers) Would love an update to the night sky.

I agree with Dinorauria. There could be The Creeper and The Block and other Minecraft constellations.

The sky should also be a little lighter so we can better see the shooting stars

Maybe you could "wish" on a shooting star!

(if you looked at it while it was happening, you would get the luck status effect for a while)

I think it would be cool for a rare chance for the star to hit the ground and if it does you can mine it to get stardust. Or if you have silk touch you can use that to grab the fallen star itself. You can put it in a bottle to make a cute little light you can use with the star. Maybe if you add stardust to it that will adjust the brightest it puts off. Also could use stardust to make make armor and tools glow.

On top of adding shooting stars to the skybox, add some extra detail to the end skybox instead of it just being pitch-black which looks super boring, or maybe even add meteor storms that have a very small chance of crashing a meteor that has some "out-of-this-world" loot like a new decorative block type perhaps!

Also, make it so we can customize the skybox textures using vanilla-based means, by that I mean the only way we can currently implement custom skybox textures is by using Optfine which is a third party program that I'm sure a multi-billion-dollar business would not want to rely on for such simple and easy-to-add features.

Yes, I think the minecraft sky needs some sprucing up. Maybe combine this with a bit of gameplay and you got yourself a winner.

YES! It'd be so nice to just sit there, look at the sky, and dream of the worlds beyond ours while a shooting star glares past. Great idea!
