    ClayGoddessSari, Since boomerangs are real life items and are known for always coming back after thrown, it would come back without loyalty, and you would only have to pick it up if it hits a block or something. But thanks for the support!

    I love it.  An early game ranged weapon that does less damage than a wooden sword and far less than a bow and arrow, so it isn't overpowered for how easy it is to craft.  Like an unenchanted trident, you would have to go pick it up after throwing it, making it even more balanced.

    You might as well allow it to be enchanted with Loyalty, but I'm not sure anyone would bother.  It would be like enchanting a wooden sword with Unbreaking III.

    It should come back if you miss, but a boomerang that hits something wouldn't be able to come back.  That's what I was thinking of.

    I think it should have a short range and charge up speed. Maybe some enchantments too:

    Gust: Increases knockback

    Grab: The boomerang pulls enemies towards you for a possible melee attack, not compatible with gust.

    Strength: Boomerang has increased damage

    The weapon could stun and hit many enemies. There isn't enough multiple hit weapons! There could be an iron edged version. I thought over a recipe 3 wood planks in a triangle shape

    There should also be a iron boomerang, but not gold and diamond, kinda like doors ant trapdoors

    and it could have enchantments,

    Ricochet: can bounce off walls and will go to creature and creature

    Kylie: will follow a strait, forward and back path(cant be combined with ricochet)

    Range: Boomerang will go further

    WolveReigner781 That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll edit it. ClayGoddessSari How about we compromise: you can pick it up if it hits something.

    I love this, and the comments here are on point!

    A quick compilation of some of my favorite comments here:

    Recipe: a wood plank (baobab only?) with sticks or nuggets next to it forming an L. Returns on miss

    Loyalty: adds return on hit as well.

    Ricochet: can bounce off walls and will go to creature and creature

    Fetch: will grab Items and bring them back to you, could also grab mobs and pull them a bit closer

    And you could draw and throw it at the perfect time to increase the speed and how far it would go, similar to the "horse jump bar".

    if its is for early game its needs a recipe to kraft it

    I think the crafting recipe should be 5 wood planks in the same shape as the helmet recipe.

    I personally was gonna make a post about different types of Boomerangs a long time ago but seeing that this is here, I don't see why I shouldn't keep my ideas away forever. Let me see what I have here....

    I really like that.  I was going to make the same sort of recommendation but you beat me to it.  Great minds think alike.  my suggestion was going to be something like this:

    I haven't read all the suggestion to Mojang for new features but I would like to offer up the possibility of a new weapon. The boomerang. The idea being that if you miss your target it would return for another try. But, as the physics of Minecraft are not like the physics of the real world, perhaps it would return even if it hit an enemy. Then, like a bow or sword or any other physical thing it would wear out and disappear or need to be repaired before it was destroyed. I hope that is an inspiring thought and a neat little twist to the game.

    It should behave kinda like boomerangs in plants vs zombies 2, that hits through back and forth mobs and can also make an achievements when hitting a zombie as a reference

    They should add this item with the Savanna Biome update

    What if you could enchant it with sharpness, bigger trajectory, and speed.

    Boomerangs should also be able to get upgraded with the smithing table. Maybe using a different tier system than iron and diamonds.

    I would like to add some things to your suggestion here. Since the boomerang comes back the longer you hold right-click the further it goes. The farther you throw it the more damage it would do as well. The boomerang also plows through enemies so you can potentially hit multiple targets. some other things to note would be enchantments.

    1. enchantment of reaching. This enchantment would grab any items in the path of your boomerang on it's way back to you so you could get items that would normally be out of reach.
    2. enchantment of wind. When thrown your boomerang would push everything away with a sizeable amount of  knockback. this would work on both enemies and items on the ground.
    3. enchantment of bludgeoning. The damage dealt by the boomerang is significantly increased but it no longer comes back.
    4. enchantment of reaping. Any plant items, like grass and crops will break when hit by the boomerang (this pairs well with reaching)

    I'm thinking that it would have two uses. One is for combat and the other one is for returning objects to the player. Maybe it could even destroy blocks.

    I've been playing Terraria and Minecraft both recently, and I was actually thinking that Minecraft could really use boomerangs like in Terraria.

    It would be amazing!

    It should also be able to pick up items at least 10 blocks away, such as if you drop something on the ledge of a canyon/mountain/near lava, etc. you can use a boomerang to get it back without falling to your death.

    It should be craftable With three pieces of that expensive all sided wood

    The crafting recipe should be something like this:

    0 = none

    s = stick

    p = plank

    0  0  s

    0  0  s

    s  s  p

    I think the boomerang should do 5 damage, and fly in a curve. When you throw it, its trajectory should be in a curve and if it doesn't hit anything, then it'll fly back towards you for you to catch. But if it does hit an entity, then it'll bounce onto a block for someone to pick up. And if it ends up hitting a block, then it'll stay there for someone to pick up. Microsoft, please consider adding boomerangs to Minecraft.

    Loyalty could serve as a way to get the boomerang back if you don't catch it.

    This would be an awesome addition. I can see this being used in puzzle maps to hit targets that are behind walls and stuff. The crafting recepie could be two reinforced sticks (made from two sticks put together with slime) and one iron. How about when it comes back it just goes back to the general detection it was thrown from and then you can add the loyalty enchantment so it will always come back no matter the obstacles. Maybe you could add a new enchantment called "Digging" and then it could be used for a way to mine things quicker and the stronger the level the tougher the blocks it can mine. For example, level 1 could mine dirt, leaves, wood, and other things you could normaly mine with your hand. Level 2 could mine stone, ores, blackstone, bassalt, and other things you could mine with an iron pickaxe. Level 3 could mine obsidian, ancient debris, and other things you could mine with a diamond or netherite pickaxe. Another enchantment you could have is "gripping". Gripping 1 could pick up items you have mined or are already on the ground and arrows that have landed from being shot.

    The boomerang should have a spell that allows it to bounce off walls (only to return to the player) and pick up items lying at a distance.

    Maybe there could be a boomerang which can mine blocks from far away and bring the drops to you.

    I think boomerangs should be crafted with planks as such:

    #  #  _
    _  _  #
    _  _  #

    I also agree that it should be thrown like a trident (minus the spinning) but unless it is enchanted with loyalty; The player who threw it would need to go catch the boomerang after it was thrown.

    This makes for an interesting alternative ranged weapon in the early game and would be a great item to have in your offhand when wielding a melee weapon. But for this to work it needs to be drawn faster than a bow and would most likely need to deal less damage. (Can't go wrong with the flame enchantment here.)

    use loyalty enchantment on a trident. there is no need for boomerangs
