    I love it.  An early game ranged weapon that does less damage than a wooden sword and far less than a bow and arrow, so it isn't overpowered for how easy it is to craft.  Like an unenchanted trident, you would have to go pick it up after throwing it, making it even more balanced.

    You might as well allow it to be enchanted with Loyalty, but I'm not sure anyone would bother.  It would be like enchanting a wooden sword with Unbreaking III.

    ClayGoddessSari, Since boomerangs are real life items and are known for always coming back after thrown, it would come back without loyalty, and you would only have to pick it up if it hits a block or something.But thanks for the support!

    It should come back if you miss, but a boomerang that hits something wouldn't be able to come back.  That's what I was thinking of.

    WolveReigner781 That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll edit it. ClayGoddessSari How about we compromise: you can pick it up if it hits something.

    And you could draw and throw it at the perfect time to increase the speed and how far it would go, similar to the "horse jump bar".

    I think the crafting recipe should be 5 wood planks in the same shape as the helmet recipe.

    I think it should have a short range and charge up speed. Maybe some enchantments too:

    Gust: Increases knockback

    Grab: The boomerang pulls enemies towards you for a possible melee attack, not compatible with gust.

    Strength: Boomerang has increased damage

    The weapon could stun and hit many enemies. There isn't enough multiple hit weapons! There could be an iron edged version. I thought over a recipe 3 wood planks in a triangle shape

    I personally was gonna make a post about different types of Boomerangs a long time ago but seeing that this is here, I don't see why I shouldn't keep my ideas away forever. Let me see what I have here....

    Its should have an enchantment that cause the boomerang will bounce to another mobs nearby, thatll be great

    There should also be a iron boomerang, but not gold and diamond, kinda like doors ant trapdoors

    and it could have enchantments,

    Ricochet: can bounce off walls and will go to creature and creature

    Kylie: will follow a strait, forward and back path(cant be combined with ricochet)

    Range: Boomerang will go further

    I was just wandering how it would be crafted and the materials needed or if it couldn’t be crafted? And it would also be awesome if you could control it after you throw it.

    I really like that.  I was going to make the same sort of recommendation but you beat me to it.  Great minds think alike.  my suggestion was going to be something like this:

    I haven't read all the suggestion to Mojang for new features but I would like to offer up the possibility of a new weapon. The boomerang. The idea being that if you miss your target it would return for another try. But, as the physics of Minecraft are not like the physics of the real world, perhaps it would return even if it hit an enemy. Then, like a bow or sword or any other physical thing it would wear out and disappear or need to be repaired before it was destroyed. I hope that is an inspiring thought and a neat little twist to the game.

    Or you could craft it by making sticks from baobab wooden planks

    I'm thinking that it would have two uses. One is for combat and the other one is for returning objects to the player. Maybe it could even destroy blocks.

    I've been playing Terraria and Minecraft both recently, and I was actually thinking that Minecraft could really use boomerangs like in Terraria.

    It would be amazing!

    I love this, and the comments here are on point!

    A quick compilation of some of my favorite comments here:

    Recipe: a wood plank (baobab only?) with sticks or nuggets next to it forming an L. Returns on miss

    Loyalty: adds return on hit as well.

    Ricochet: can bounce off walls and will go to creature and creature

    Fetch: will grab Items and bring them back to you, could also grab mobs and pull them a bit closer

    I think that when it comes back you need to catch it other wise it hits you and you take a little bit of damage but you could get an enchantment that would Auto catch it. That would be cool. And the more you charge it before throwing the further and longer it goes out for.

    It should also be able to pick up items at least 10 blocks away, such as if you drop something on the ledge of a canyon/mountain/near lava, etc. you can use a boomerang to get it back without falling to your death.

    How does this sound for a crafting recipe: wood planks on the top left and top middle, a wood plank on the Middle left, and an iron ingot in the center. You could also add various new enchantments to the boomerang such as homing or speed.

    It should behave kinda like boomerangs in plants vs zombies 2, that hits through back and forth mobs and can also make an achievements when hitting a zombie as a reference

    The crafting recipe should be something like this:

    0 = none

    s = stick

    p = plank

    0  0  s

    0  0  s

    s  s  p

    I think the boomerang should do 5 damage, and fly in a curve. When you throw it, its trajectory should be in a curve and if it doesn't hit anything, then it'll fly back towards you for you to catch. But if it does hit an entity, then it'll bounce onto a block for someone to pick up. And if it ends up hitting a block, then it'll stay there for someone to pick up. Microsoft, please consider adding boomerangs to Minecraft.
