Pig Villagers in the Nether

I like this idea, but because zombie pigmen are literally everywhere, the villages would be impossible to find intact.  They can't even have a wall around and be well lit up because zombie pigmen don't follow the normal light level based mechanics.  There would literally have to be a wall to keep them out AND a floor made of slabs to keep them from spawning (carpets would burn up in the Nether, so carpeting isn't an option).  All of which would be for naught if there happens to be an overhang over the village walls that let the zombie pigmen drop in, of course.  And that's in the naturally generated village, because otherwise all you would find is a mess of zombie pig villagers and their houses and nothing more.

Since the only method of having intact villagers is unreasonable, don't have them start as intact at all.  Set up the (ruined?) villages and zombie pigman villagers as structure spawns inside this village.  You have to cure them and then protect them to trade with them.  But in gratitude, their trades are a lot better than normal villager trades.

The nether cartographer sounds great, and so does the brewer.

I don't know how a farmer would work in the nether.  Maybe they buy nether wort?  Or maybe some new nether crops should be added that grow on soul sand and don't need water.  Crops CAN grow without water, but they're slower and the farmland is always at risk of turning back to dirt, so I don't think overworld crops should be included in this village.

Nether librarians should buy paper at a premium because sugar cane can't be grown in the nether.  They should also sell really good enchanted books.

There's also the problem of villager breeding and how to make a village in the Nether.  The current system of defining a valid "door" would not work in the nether, as there is no such thing as sky access.  It is possible that only the village structure would count as a valid pigman village, or there is no such thing as pigman villager breeding and you have to cure new ones to get new villagers to trade with.

Honestly, I think the whole village idea should be dropped with the living pigman mob.

Living pigmen should be fighters like their zombie counterparts.  Rather than having more village variants inhabited by pigman rather than villagers, we could have nomadic pigmen living in wool tent camps.  And rather than trade, they could protect the player.

I love this idea, it adds for life to the nether other than just monsters that want to kill you and all. maybe instead of farms they have nether wart farms?

what if the village was inside a wall? It would be cool because it would show they've adapted to their environment.

You know, the villages were originally supposed to be populated with pig man villagers, but it was never implemented. However, if you look in Java release 1.5's textures, you will find the pig man texture

Definitely Nether Pigmen Villages, but a few changes should be made here:

    * **Pigmen are Neutral, like their Zombie counterparts** This means, they won't be bullied like Villagers are. They will kill you if you hurt them. Likewise, Zombie Pigmen would get into skirmishes with Pigmen due to this, so be sure to hide if a Zombie Pigman attacks!

    * **Pigmen Villages should look unique.** To be consistent, remaking a Villager Village with netherbrick would not be good. Perhaps it could be more empirical china-inspired.

    * **Pigmen should trade GOLD, not rubies.** Yes, rubies would be nice, but Pigmen have already been established with the interest in Gold. Just go with it.

    * **Pigmen Villages should spawn on the Nether Rooftop.** This would require two things: 1. Terrain generation on the rooftops. 2. Access points to 'said rooftop.
The world was raised since the Nether was added, and thus currently has 128 blocks unused above it. The bedrock upper layer should remain, as it's a clever bottle-necking method to push for exploration, but it should not expand beyond that. Instead, there should be netherrack mountains topped with a "grass/dirt" equivalent above the bedrock.
That way, the current Nether we know would be regarded as "The Underworld" of the Nether.

**That being said, Pigmen are long overdue, and require attention in the future too.**

    +1

What kind of trades would living pigmen have that would require them to spawn in the Nether for said consistency?  How many of us want the Nether to retain its underworldly, dangerous theme throughout, and how many would rather interrupt it with a safe Nether village?

The Pigman idea is very good, however, the Pigman, I say should not actually be a nether villager. It should rather be another danger to consider. Instead of being hostile, or passive, they should be a neutral mob. Their behavior will hinge upon their customs. Their customs would hinge upon not eating pork, (as to them it would reek of cannibalism) and fighting. They would kill you if you have pork in your inventory and will require you to fight the Zombie Pigmen. To fix the fact that having a safe haven in the nether, being the Pig Fort, perhaps the zombie pigmen will become irreversibly hostile once you come into contact with Pigmen, and do not kill them.

I like it, but it should make it so that zombie pigmen only attack if a villager exits village premises. Also, the currency should be quartz, not rubies.

The Nether should be a hostile place where everything wants you dead (except for the neutral zombie pigmen).  I do not support this idea.

I like this idea! I would personally like to see them spawn on a raft like structure in the lava lakes, to reduce the problem of zombie pigmen attacking.

I like the idea of having rubies instead of emeralds as their currency: I feel that nether quartz and gold have too high a spawn rate to be comparable.

I don't think they should farm nether wart, but I like the idea of them having farms that the player can also benefit from.

Having their structures made primarily of quartz, with netherbrick, glass, and glowstone as accent blocks would look nice in my opinion.

A village variant in the nether? But why? And why do you insist on making it as boring of an addition as possible, not changing anything in the building style despite materials used.
There is so much potential for something interesting, but you decide it is a good idea to copy overworld villages, despite the overworld and nether playing completely different?

I can't vote because these villagers are too similar to the regular ones, there are two better alternatives to this post. Itdoesn't fit with my idea of the nether being a harsh wasteland where brutal mobs and terrain cause danger at every turn.

I think pig villagers will have three types: first, pig villagers similar to villagers are unable to fight, fight, can only exchange with rubies, the second type: pig villagers can fight fighting, there are weapons available that make iron, run fast, assemble, hit hard, hate like zombie pigman, can equip it with armor and shield, the third type: similar to the second type, only thing is to shoot supply, fourth type: similar to the second and third, but holding the crossbow, it is the player's companion, it does not attack the player completely, even if we beat it. My opinion and I are Vietnamese.

Excelent idea! it's also a excuse to add rubies. Pigmen Villages should be made of Petrified Wood which also should be in the game.

What if pigmens use nether fortresses that are not abandoned and make Zombie Pigmen Aggressive.
    They're zombies for a reason.

How about hiring mercenary pigmen to defend your buildings and farms? They could also follow you like just like pets to fight phantoms or to clear out strongholds, mines, end towers, and any other sort of dungeon.

As a comment here already said, the nether is full of zombie pigman and the village would never be safe. I think that instead of pig villagers they should be normal zombie pigman, but they have trades. They keep their normal behavior and they would be a passive-agressive mob, because if you hit them they will group up and attack you.

Um...You do know what the Nether is meant to be pain and suffering, opposite of heaven.

CrispRacoon854's idea is pretty good, but the vilage should additionally be protected by a wall, every type of Pigmen should be neutral and, when the player's score is too low, because he missbehaves (punching pigmen etc.), the village should attacke him until he leaves or dies. Furthermore, they should attack zombie pigmen that are near the village and there should be an event similar to the zombie sieges, where a group of zombie pigmen starts a fight with the village.

I like this idea, mostly because it was what it originally going to be... but what about the Iron Golem's?

What would they be?, how would they act and what would they look like? I think the Golem's of the village be friendly blazes that would attack zombie pigmen and the player if the player hits them, if the player kills a friendly blaze though, you would get 2 blaze rods and a fire charge though the pigmen in the village will make their prices higher. The nearest groups of zombie pigmen will be friendly towards you in return for killing the friendly blazes and also will give you ruby's ( for trades ) as well.

Though this is just my idea of what the golem's of this idea should be.

I like this idea, and since the Nether needs an overhaul sometime soon this would be a great content addition. Maybe make it a fortified village, and make the pig-ligers be able to fight back (and be a lot stronger). I saw a great video about Minecraft's ingame history which is only hinted to us (giant bone skeletons underground, ruined underground villages and the unused giant mob), and the 'backstory' of the nether could be that the pigs were the intelligent species of the nether until they got infected by the zombie virus and only a few fortified villages remain standing.

We would need them to be clever, able to fight back and have good trades (also make the trades entirely different to Villager trades. Maybe they could give you emeralds or whatever their money is, and in return ask for armour and weapons, which they would then use themselves). Also make only pigmen attack them, because there are a lot of dangerous Nether mobs. They would also need a golem, which could be made out of quartz.

As I said, they would be able to fight back. They should be stronger than pigmen, as they would be much rarer, and they would fight as a team. When they run out of arrows, they would have to fight on foot, and the player could assist them.

Their quartz golem should be a ranged weapon, sort of like a walking gun turret, but they can be given 'homes' eg a specific block that they seek out, sit on for the rest of their lives, and fight zombie pigmen from there. It should shoot fireballs and arrows, and have half the health of an iron golem. These gun turrets would be guarding their home block on top of the walls. Really useful in a zombie pigman siege.
