This would be a great addition to the forests, because they're pretty bland atm.

@ RealCC419 they are supposed to be spirit like mobs

Maybe the lost is exclusive to the swamp and looks like a ragged version of skeletons and the forgotten should spawn in jungles and look like a zombie (like the husk and stray). They could also give potion effects: the lost could give nausea and the forgotten blindness. The lost could drop bones and mushrooms (?) and the forgotten could drop rotten flesh and vines (?). Just an idea. I never thought to suggest more mobs like the husk and stray.

Ok just one thing: make the sounds a *Bit* less creepy, maybe the cave sounds or that random sound that just happens from time to time, otherwise great idea.

They could use Alex's sprite to design the Forgotten and the Lost, just as the zombie was inspired on Steve...

I love it, but i think that it will work better with a foggy area in the biome, here, this mob will appear

I would steer away from having the appearance too closely resembling any gender; I suggest basically a ghostly Witch/Skeleton model (similar to the mashup that is Zombie Pigmen) instead as the game explicitly tries to not use gender-specific characteristics.

Adding on from from other comments:
Iron golems would be afraid of them

They look like villagers in easy and medium mode so kids won’t be so scared

I don’t know. Minecraft is meant to be made kid-friendly, however this update might scare some kids.

Have to say, really good idea, and quite relevant to village and pillage.

    I absolutely love this idea!

Perhaps these mobs could look differently in the daytime and the night time? I would love to see a lost transform from a subtle daytime look, to a full on horrifying night time look. This could be nice.

Anyway great idea, hope that this gets added into the game.

The maps should either lead to ruins/abandoned villages, lead to nothing (they wouldn't have gotten lost if they had a working map), or lead to desert and jungle temples, which are difficult to find without one. We already have a good source of buried treasure maps, and having them drop a mansion or monument map would make cartographers useless.

Yes, it will be a little scary for the kids and for some players, but it would be a really nice addition, so making everyone happy it should be a new type of world able to buy in the market place, so the ones that are more into scary things can have a new experiences without loosing the Minecraft kid-friendly essence

Make it a variant of skeletons and zombies, or a witch variant. The crying should not be there, though.

i really like the idea of ghost mobs, and with some other peoples suggestions of swamp/ biome fog it would add a nice atmosphere.

I like the idea, but not your way of going about it. Imagine being a little kid, first starting up Minecraft. You wander into a swamp and next thing you know, you're screaming and crying while being chased down by a wailing ghost lady.

@mercy langley if you can handle zombies skeletons and the nether which is the minecraft underworld you can handle ghosts. Or I hope you can for my sanity.

I was thinking about something like this the other day. Like a female witch mob that screams in the forest.

I think it could be a neutral mob, that way, it acts more like a dead/forgotten player than a zombie or skeleton. Perhaps it could be impossible to hit unless hit with a spectral arrow, and become aggressive if you try to hit it. it would not outright kill you though, because, deep down, it is still a player. If you give it dragon breath, ghast tears, or some other post-game/late game item, it will lead you to its treasure then disappear, like its final question or lingering regrets were resolved or something.

I like the idea of a crying sound, like it regrets something, or has been forgotten.

If you look into the lore of the game, it can be kind of dark that way...

This is a good Halloween themed update for sure,

This should only happen on a full moon to make it rare like the skeleton traps,

I would like to see this as a random event that can happen in swamps bcus Minecraft does lack of that kind of events

This sounds really cool and scary! If I saw/heard a lost I would leave that biome immediately and find some iron golems!
