No support from me on any of these ideas. You can easily just keep your shulker boxes in your inventory; they don't take up much space at all compared to the amount of storage they give. Wearing chest plates and elytra together is too overpowered, there is a reason that Mojang wants you to choose between the two. Finally, while your banner-cape idea is interesting, the whole point of capes is that they are hard to get; your idea would rob capes of all value because everyone would have access to them.

People with normal capes will still be special because you can’t craft banners that look like Minecon capes, and banner capes wouldn’t change the appearance of elytras.

But good point on the other back slot uses; I have removed the shulker box idea because it was dumb, but maybe you unlock the back slot near end game so the elytra + chestplate isn’t too overpowered. I still really want banner capes though :)

Thanks for the response James! I still think players should never, ever be able to have a chest plate and elytra at the same time. (You should also probably delete it from this post because other people have suggested it before, but you can always add your advancements idea as a comment on other people's posts).

However, your edits to the banner-cape idea are quite good, and I like the idea a lot more now. I'll give you a vote just for that.

I appreciate your openness to criticism, by the way :) Have a great day!

It says the idea is “completed”; what does that mean?

A new tags system is rolling out, read the home page of this site. I think the "completed" is a bug, though, it's supposed to say "updated"

Nova ok thanks I have removed that part from my post. I still really want an awesome cape though! :D

I like the idea of banner capes, but I disagree on the advancements idea: they shouldn't modify the gameplay. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't have that slot as you spawn in the world, that's not an advantage at all, pure esthetics.

I like this idea and I think you should address that in bedrock, achievements are still a thing and advancements don’t exist.

@MagicDiamond40 My original post included some other ideas such as the back slot also being able to have Shulker Boxes for backpacks, and also for elytras so you could use them in conjunction with chestplates, but I removed them because they were bad ideas or already posted, and decided to focus on the main idea for the post (banner capes)

It would be nice to have access to custom capes in the launcher skin menu. Like you have to choose a free cape in a list but you don't have access to fully customable capes, that way you can't have the minecon ones if you didn't go to the minecon.

Personally, I agree with a backpack slot. It would be good early-game if done right, but could also end up being completely useless if implemented in the wrong way. As for banner capes, I completely disagree with this as it would allow people to mimic minecon capes, while not at the complete detail as minecon capes it would still cause confusion. Personally I think they should just have another minecon where they sell tickets and give people a chance at getting a cape if they were unable to get their own ticket for whatever reason in the past.

As someone who had the cape pack in legacy and lost it when i upgraded to Bedrock Edition i would love the whole banners as equiptable capes idea

I'm okay for this except for the advancements

The whole point of advancements is that they are little goals who won't stop you from doing whatever you want to do in the game. So advancements are being optional on purpose

That was even stated by Notch himself in an interview: "I'd want these achievements to feel like things that you can try, rather than these are things you have to do. People can follow them, but only if they want to."

However, adding capes would mean that server owners could add custom capes in the store for cosmetic use (imagine that on Hypixel)

I don't think it should be unlocked by advancements, and I don't think it should be a separate slot, I just think you should be able to stick banners in your chest slot, much like Elytra.  Perhaps it would be technically possible (i.e. in the code) to have both a banner cape and a chestplate, so that commands can be used to apply both (for map makers) but in survival just have it be something you can do with the chest slot.  Maybe through the use of another valuable item or high number of levels, a "chestplate with cape" item could be crafted, to allow players who have been playing for a while to be able to combine them, but not just anyone.

first of all, you can still get capes. I think the idea of banner capes is great, as it means you can show off your banner without having a shield on you. The special capes are impossible (mostly) to replicate as banner so they are still unique.

I love this idea! I live too far away to ever be able to attend Minecon to get a cape so this gives users like myself a chance to have one! I also heavily agree, it gives way more incentive to try and get those achievements if that's how its obtained. Thanks James for the great idea and thank you Mojang for listening! X3

@MacchuPicchu96, the elytra-chest plate wouldn't be to op if it was compatible with leather tunics and ONLY leather tunics.

Capes are earned. Minecon capes and others would be much less valuable. Not to mention that Advancements can be modified by map makers (and this would be invulnerable to commands)

In my personal opinion I think that this is an amazing idea (other than the advancements part). I feel this way because they are a one time thing and once you have completed it once, you will always have it completed. While this idea would be good if achievements worked the way they used to, I feel that there could be a way better way of putting this into the game in say 1.15 or something. I think that it would better idea if you were just always to have the cape slot, although earning it is still a good idea. i just don't know how that would really work in today's minecraft, this is still a great idea though and for that you have my vote.

This would also be implemented by devs on legacy editions.

Achievements need more purpose. There is zero satisfaction in getting the achievements besides saying you were able to complete all of them. This is one really good idea that brings purpose to achievements.

Very good idea! I would love to see this in the game, as capes are REALLY hard to get without mods or earning them from Mojang/Optifine. This would also make banners much more useful besides being used to display stuff.

@MaccuPicchu96 Not all players would have access to them. On servers. That's where seeing other people counts anyways, right? Also, maybe you would have to defeat the Ender Dragon to recieve the cape slot.

I do like the idea of certain recipes being unlocked via progression through advancements, I feel this would be a nice way to add recipes for currently uncraftable items without making them immediately available. There could be an advancement that grants you saddles for having tamed a mount. Or perhaps we can get a recipe to craft tridents after visiting an ocean monument. Name tags could just as easily be unlocked by taming our first pet.

But capes? Capes are for cosmetics, and even then they are handled in a weird way that makes it so not everyone has them.

I love to be able to craft and wear capes. If it were to open to being able to wear Elytra and or a backpack. then I think making it unlockable is a great idea as well if you can not craft Moncon capes than what is the issue? A wearable banner would be awesome. a slot for a backpack would be great too, and I have seen plenty of people wanting to be able to wear a chest piece with elytra. I do not think it a bad idea, in survival elytra are hard enough to find and get as well as being extremely easy to lose. even without a chest piece potions and enchantments can make you pretty OP. no matter how op it is though one miss step and the elytra and all the enchanted gear finds its self under a large pool of lava or at the bottom of the Abbys. the added armor is just going to lure people into a false sense of security which will more often than, causing them to miss step and lose all their gear anyway.  If you add in having to beat some boss to get some special item to unlock that back slot on top of that, with some extremely difficult or expensive recipe. I do not see it has a bad idea at all or broken. - maybe a reason to add in a Lava Cracken in the Nether?  whats an expanded inventory or some back bling really going to hurt? the more players can customize the look of their character the better, helps keep the players invested.  By the time you are farming out the End regular mobs stop being much of a worry anyway.  I like the Idea
