This could be a part of a bigger add-on: accessory slots, which will not provide armor, just cosmetic effects. The "cape" accessory should't be a banner, you should use the loom to convert a banner into a cape. Special templates for banners and capes could be unlocked by completing achievements.

More accessories can be made and customized from the loom as well, like hoods, jewelry, and other articles of clothing. You could just skip the banner conversion and use the UI in the loom to customize your accessories.

What about red banner + black creeper charge? That would be very similar to the OG Minecon cape.

I agree, this would be quite nice.

I like this idea, but I think MacchuPicchu96 has a point. I'm still voting anyway.

superluig164 I know you made this comment a while ago, but I think it SHOULD be a separate slot because the capes are purely cosmetic, and don't affect gameplay at all.

Or you get a special cape for a advencment. You can turn it off. It would show player progress in servers.

While I disagree with the fact of being able to wear both armor and elytra at once, I LOVE the idea of using banners as capes people with the rare ones from conventions would still be super special because the design is impossible to make with dyes on banners! 😊love this idea

    Pros and Cons:

Pro: Backpack can increase inventory space, if added

Con: Mojang has stated that Elytras are not ment to be equiped with armor. The point of them going on the torso slot is to make armor balanced: Either have fast travel or high defense.

    Pro: Pets? Why not, right?

Con: Shulker Boxes already exist, making most things you can put in the cape slot useless

Capes should remain extremely rare. That's the whole point to them.

Yes I agree but you should probably not have to advance to unlock it. It should just already be there.

I think it would be a great idea if players would be able to craft a cape in the same colors as banners and put banner patterns on these capes. They would be worn as an armor piece and since the MINECON capes are not crafteable with banners, theese would be special.

Also, elytras could be dyable and players could also put patterns on elytras.

Theese ideas could greatly add to the customization aspect of weareables to minecraft, so every player or faction can have a personal design and have it on their shield, cape, elytra and base.

I feel like this is a good idea, but the capes have to be general so that they are not too rare.

We should be able to customize them like banners and not lose them if we die

if capes are purly cosmetic, then i see no reason why they arnt onlocked by advancments, and it would just be a tiny reward thet doesnt affect gamplay

Maybe this cape slot can be used for elytra too.

No support from me because of two reasons:

The capes would make the 'normal' capes not as special.

The idea that the cape slot would be unlocked after enchantments kind off ruins the point. Minecraft is a game where you don't have to unlock advancements to do things, that's the fun part about it.

I disagree with this as It steps on the toes of people who did attend Minecons or worked for their capes. Not to mention I never understood why there is a discrepancy between Java and Bedrocks cape rarity. Why are capes so hard to obtain In Java edition, yet on Bedrock edition, capes are so easy to obtain and many people have multiple capes and skin packs with them?

Back on topic, this would ruin the point of them being special (Ignoring capes meaning nothing in Bedrocks due to almost everyone having them). Not to mention, this does not affect gameplay as capes are cosmetic.

I disagree that chest plate+elytra is too overpowered, because   elytra is already super endgame. however maybe you should have to weld them together somehow with, like, a dragon egg or something.
