I think you don’t need to eat food or drink a potion, instead you craft a dream totem that when you right click your bed while holding the totem you go to dreamland, or you could dream slippers. Maybe a dream necklace. and you need to find an ore called cloud ore that is common but spawns at extremely high altitudes like maybe y 240, you need this. And when you mine cloud ore it turns into a cloud crystal, then you can use a dream furnace to smelt it and turn it into sky crystals. To craft a dream furnace you would need
4 cloud crystals and 4 gold ingots plus a normal furnace
    Like this c = cloud crystal, f = furnace
    And g = gold Ingot
    G C G
    C F C
    G C G
That would give you a dream furnace
And then you can craft dream totem/slippers/necklace
    G = gold block D = dreamy wool
    N = gold nugget S = sky crystal
    W = wool M = misty wool
    Dream slippers
    S W S
    W S W
    S W S
    = 3 misty wool
    N N N
    N M N
    N N N
= one pair of dream slippers
Dream slippers should be as good as iron boots but make you immune to fall damage. if you sleep while you are wearing them you go to dreamland
    Necklace of dreams
    S S S
    S G S
    S S S
    = necklace of dreams
The necklace should be worn on your chest or have a new slot for it gives you the benefits of a diamond helmet plus (only if it replaces chestplate) regeneration one. When you sleep with it you go to dreamland.
    Totem of dreams
    S
    G
    S
    = totem of dreams
If you right click the bed with this you go to dreamland

You can maybe upgrade your bed with a rare and hard material so it wont be easy to get there. Or an event can happen like shooting stars and that would be the time to go into the dimension

Like a dimension where you can gather items and resources for a few minutes which would vary depending on when you go to bed how many ticks to the time cycle resets, it switches you back to the normal overworld, but you can't take any of those items with you back to the overworld, leaving you with what you had before bed. Spawn chunks would still be loaded throughout the dream and it would be useful for automated farms.

A new key binding should also be added for skipping the dream, if you just think it's a waste of time.

You can take one Item or one stack of an item back with you to the real world, using a special one slot chest. The rest of the items stay in the dream world.

N O. I think the bed is for just skipping to dawn. I think there should be an option. If a player selects dream in a multiplatyer world and other people don't, it will skip to dawn as normal and when the dream-player wakes up it will be noon.

I Don't know. Maybe some dream exclusive mobs and you don't always dream. + if you die in the real world while in the dream dimension, phantoms in your dream swoop down to kill you. Also a potion to guarantee a dream.

What if you had to use a special bed to access the dream dimension, maybe just a bed with an eye of ender in place of the middle piece of wool.

    This would be annoying.

This would be good with a spells update. Especially the potion part. Spells: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360026009851-Spells.

P.S this should deffinenatly go in the biomes section

Maybe just have a "Wake up" item that cannot be lost, I would end up returning on accident, but I love the idea!

The idea of visiting a dream would be nice. Whenever a player goes to sleep you have 2 options, click on leave bed or stay asleep to skip the night. Now with the dream biome, you have another option on the screen, enter dream world or something like that. Someone mentioned that it would easy and not enough challenge to access the dream because it doesn't require a little bit of work similar on how you have to gather resources in order to enter the Nether and the End. I think it would be a little bit difficult because you only have a few seconds to sleep and you can either miss the chance to click enter dream due to distractions or if your fast enough to click that option. Other times players can choose to stay awake during night to collect phantom membranes or do other things. Again, it really depends on how fast you are because you are only on brief sleeping.

If this happens it should require drinking a potion before you sleep to enter the dream world. I don't want to be forced to go there.

I also think that this would be better as it's own dimension. Since I've been thinking about this all night, here are a few things I would like to see if Mojang decided to add this as the fourth dimension:

    1. More phantom lore. The phantoms exist. Why? Why on this sweet earth do phantoms exist? Anyways, they exist, and there isn't really an in-game explanation. Their spawning is related to your sleep, so they obviously have a connection to this new dream dimension.

    2. Chaotic disjointed structures, mashed together into a strange dream world. You think you're in a stronghold, but you turn left, and it's a woodland mansion, you turn right and it's an abandoned mineshaft, you walk down a village path into an ocean monument, and come out on top of a pillager outpost. Everything is mashed together.

    3. Dimension populated by Steve's nightmares. What are Steve's nightmares? That's for Jeb to decide. I know he's coming up with some sort of story behind this game, and I want more clues as to what it is.

    4. A community contest to come up with bizarre disjointed biomes to fill this dream world. I know people will come up with great stuff.

    5. Because the dream dimension isn't exactly a new place like the nether or end, but a realm inside the minds of the players, I think instead of a portal, you should build a magical altar around a bed. When using the bed, you can enter the dream dimension by going inside your characters mind.

So those are my ideas. Thanks!

I like this idea but I have something to add. I agree with most of that, but I think that instead of different dimensions, you just wake up on a bunch of islands in the sky, except there's nothing below them--if you fall, you die.

There's a small chance to have a dream every time you sleep but the Dream Potion guarantees it. It can be three minutes long or eight minutes long. Once you drink the potion and go to sleep, it fades to black like usual, but you wake up in the dream dimension. Every additional dream potion you drink during the dream extends it by three or eight minutes, and the effect countdown shows how much longer the dream lasts. Usually, it's daytime and the islands are peaceful, but there's a one-third chance for it to be a nightmare, where it's night and monsters spawn.

In both kinds of dreams, you wake up with no equipment and when you leave the dream you keep any materials you gathered during the dream. Chests of equipment and materials are scattered throughout the dimension, and ores are much more common.

In normal dreams, it's just a race to collect as much as possible in the time you have, and it also breaks up the late game monotony because you don't have any gear. It might be cool for there to be cloud creatures, maybe about the size of a phantom but passive.

In nightmares, monsters and phantoms are everywhere but there is more loot, and the ultimate objective is to kill the boss, which isn't super powerful but keeps you in the dream until it dies.

I think this is more a dimension than a biome but that looks really cool and maybe there is a litttlee chance of you to go there by just sleeping but that litte chance is not opcional and when you are there maybe you need to look for some kind of portal to go back to the overworld

This dimension could have Blue/Sleep Sand Dunes. The moon could be a giant eye with its different faces being how open/closed the eye is

I think you should suffer from mental effects after a dream, to represent these effects, slowness, weakness, and hunger would be good: A dream can be confusing because it simply feels real, however when you wake up you are in a completely different environment, and that is where the bewildering aspect comes from; dreams have a lot of mental weight, even benign dreams do. But sometimes they don't for (perhaps) inexplicable reasons, so then they could have chance of giving such effects which varies depending on the dream type the player goes through.

This is a great idea and I really think Minecraft should add this, because it would make Minecraft more fun and interesting. So Minecraft employees,I think you should add this in the next update,no matter what.

Maybe you should just have an option to either go to it or not, so you don’t get teleported there if you don’t want to go there.

You should be able to turn it off in settings because it could get annoying

then a possible chance for a nightmare dimension ruled by some dragon boss that can be defeated by axolotls. Another use for the wholesome swimmy bois

There should be a rare dream/nightmare that has Herobrine in it. It should be very scary(In a Minecraft way) and when you wake up you should see a glimpse of him and then he is gone.

This can be combined with phantoms so that phantoms attack you when you are awake and nightmare mobs attack when you are asleep. Think carefully!

bed enchantment, very rare (like mending) and makes bed glow (in hand and placed) and when slept in uses enchantment

It would be annoying if you need to go to the dream dimension every time you sleep. And that effects would also be a little bit OP. So maybe it could be like every 50 days, or just a completely random chance.

Maybe you have to make a special bed that uses hard to get resources.
