Temperature and status effects from it

I've always liked the idea of adding temperature. I would like having a good reason to use leather armor, and the thought of having to be extra careful around lava or ice makes my spine tingle a little bit. Having crop growth speed affected by temperature is also neat. So I'm glad you brought the idea up.

However, I'm just not sure it's a great idea overall because it will make lots of things in the game harder without making much of anything easier. Therefore, people might have a hard time accepting it... It's also so terribly complex, as you said. What if different foods had different effects on temperature, too? I might come back to this later and elaborate some more.

Would there be a high end armor, like diamond, that would protect you from both hyper and hypothermia?  I don't particularly like the idea of having to worry about temperature in the game, but I could tolerate it if I could ignore it once I get the right armor.

This seems like the kind of thing that could be enabled for people who want more of a challenge, like turning off natural regen or making death permanent.  Because some people are more into the "survival" aspect, and other people see it as an annoyance as much as anything.

I think this would be much better as a minecraft mod idea.

Great Idea! I had a very similar thought, but with a little bit of variation.

First of all, not every Biome would have these "temperature effects", only the extreme ones: Deserts, Extreme Hills, very cold snow Biomes or even the Deep Ocean biomes.

Also, it would be annoying if a player just walks into a biome and died from some kind of effect, so my idea was: the 1st. 1-2min. no effect, 3-4min. slight freezing effects such as hunger, slowness and then after being in the biome for more then 5min. the player will experience hunger, slowness, nausea, and slowly die.

Also, I like the idea of Armor/Protection, but, hot or cold drinks or food that would help with the extreme cold or hot temperatures would be a cool addition too.

And because these biomes would be fairly dangerous, there should be some kind of reward: some kind of ruins, structures or special things spawn in these biomes that will give the player some kind of reward for surviving the harshes conditions in the game.

Anyways, again, great comment, and I would love it if they actually added something similar to our ideas!

There is already a biome temperature, and it decreases with height! That could be used for this.

But I think being too hot should burn you, and being too cold slow you down like slowness 2.

Nice idea, but no air coolers

I support this idea 100% and think it should be an optional thing, because it would make the game survival super-hard. Also, here's an idea: wearing golden armour protects you from all cold, heat, Nether effects, et cetera.

I don’t think we need the air conditioner block, and we could just use ice or magma for temperature control. This should also affect mobs, so you could put snow golems in hot biomes if the sky isn’t visible (so you’re underground) and there is enough ice around.

Yesss, ive wanted a temperature dynamic for Minecraft forever! However, they should make it like zombies breaking doors, where its only in normal or hard. Also armor enchantments to help regulate temperature.

Temperature bar must be included to your ideas.

It should also depend on the biome you are in and goats could drop goat fur which can be crafted into mountain gear which has it's own slot the heat/cool protection slot. There is also heat protection gear crafted by putting iron in a crafting table in this shape

    I =iron e= empty

    I  I  I

    I  e I

    I  i  i

it would be cool if you could have a fire potion or ice potion to heat or cool you off or be able to upgrade your gear with feathers or packed ice to keep the effects from happening. but then again what if you spawned in a cold or hot biome...

In terms of keeping warm, they could add in either fur-lined armor sets or cloaks with its own slot (as that was what they used to keep warm in medieval times)

And if they add thirst bars, heat will deplete thirst faster.

I agree but the hyperthermia lava effect should be fully canceled by netherite as it is a heat resistant material (based on graphite kinda) and I doubt minecraft would add polar bear armor for they didn't even approve of riding dolphins and and they might bring the heat block from education edition which is a good idea but maybe change texture a bit and I don't think aluminum would be added as a armor just for resistance to weather, also leather armor should Increase your heat instead of making you resistant to cold so where leather armor next to heat would make you overheat much faster and same with cold. But overall its a really good idea! And with the edition of freezing via powdered snow it might just get added to the official minecraft. (Also I personally think minecraft should hire optifine and work with them!)
