This would be Great!! just want to suggest a few things:

    • Rushing water should be a lighter color, and when submerged the render distance should be reduced even more than normal water.
    • For foam, the particles should be big, and each one look like multiple foam bubbles, to prevent lag.
    • Maybe the water should make splash effects when it first touches the ground, and only makes foam when it lands on another water block.
    • A "wave" effect if the water is rushing and it hits a wall, making the water block that does so slightly bigger, depending on the speed of the water.
    • For lava, maybe it glows brighter the faster it moves, and if it slows gets speckled with rock, since its cooling.

With the new graphical update on the way (possibly), new water and lava effects would make sense.

They should add waterfall splash animation once they add waterfall generation into Minecraft. which I don't see why it doesn't even exist in the first place.

yes! Also it should obviously be disable-able (that's a word) in the particle effects section if there is too much strain on your computer.

This should also happen with flowing lavafalls! Would look great in the Nether lava oceans.
