Also, I was thinking that these different types of wolves would have different abilities.

Like the regular wolf, which is probably based off a gray wolf, should be like gray wolves and have more hearts.

Other wolves, like the dingo, would give speed to itself and you around hostile mobs for a small certain amount of time.

If they hopefully add redwoods, there should be a variation of wolf, kinda like the red wolf. This wolf should give fire resist when you or it is around fire or lava.

The snow wolf, which could be based off the arctic wolf, could give invisibility for a small amount of time around hostile mobs.

The coyote could give poison damage for maybe two seconds when it attacks a mob.

A black wolf, which only spawns at night, should give the player night vision for a small amount of time, then have a cool down for a much longer amount of time.

Different textures for wolves too? Yes!

But not different sizes or spawn eggs. That’s too much of the good.

I agree with this idea completely. I have been wanting different types of dogs on the game for so long. I think the dogs should have different traits e.g. puppies scare zombies and poodles are fast and a German Shepard might kill certain mobs faster than other dogs

And even more types: dalmatian, arctic wolf, sheperd, bichon, that police dog, danschund, and street dogs with random colour combinations, but only if you tame wolves in certain places. Or it would better be randomly.

I think instead of wolves huskys should spawn in snowy biomes but the idea in general is pretty cool.

In the savannah you could have hyenas or African wild dogs

Especially with the new breeds of cats, new dogs would be great. I’d love to see a Pomeranian in Minecraft!

I really enjoy the idea of a mod that adds more variations of wolves (much like the cats) but for the ones that spawn in villages should be more like "farm" type dogs rather than poodles or beagles because well youre in a village not a city.

Village dogs should be more like mutts that come in a variety of colors shapes and sizes, mostly having browns and blacks with different white patterns. these mods can "protect" villages and nearby animals (sheep, cows, pigs, chickens) and even have their own characteristics based on biome. Dogs in the snow are a little tougher than say those in the deserts but the desert dogs are a lot faster than those in the snow and dogs in the plains are kinda normal and dogs in forests can possible go further out when chasing other mods.

Color of the village dogs can even vary from biome to biome with a color scheme to some what match its surroundings. Like say youre in a snowy biome youd find more "husky " type dogs that are a little fluffier/hardier. Or a desert biome youd find more lean/agile. Grassy plains youd find more regular type dogs. Etc.

For the wolves as well it would be cool to see hyenas/maned wolves/artic wolves/timber wolves/cyotes/jackles/etc. Even if some arent part of wolf family these would still be interesting mods to be included.

I’m not too sure about tamed breeds. but I like the idea of different canine species for different biomes. Don’t get me wrong I would love to have domesticated dogs but I don’t think they would fit in with Minecraft’s theme well. And please add petting! I’m thinking it could regen 2 hp but with a large cooldown time so you still have to feed them.

There are so many types of cats, & even sheep come in other colors, so it would be good.

We should make it so you have mixes also(for house dogs). I would love it if they added this stuff, especially pugs and golden retrievers! :)

I think that if you tame a wolf you get the normal wolf, but if you breed 2 tamed wolves together, you get a random breed of dog.

I think it’d be cool if there was also a stronger wolf variant for Mountain biomes, in order to help give the biome more of an identity. These Mountain Wolves would be larger in size, have a mixed fur color (I.e. the iconic black, grey, & brown wolf fur), have more health, move quicker, and would become hostile at night. Taming a Mountian Wolf would also require a lot more time and patience, but would act as an excellent guard dog for a player’s base.

Maybe do something like huskies which are good at pulling German Shepards which do higher damage and stuff like that

I dont think wolves in minecraft are wolves at all reasons well one thing the size is too small for gray or even arctic wolves I think wolves in minecraft are proto wolves which are the ancestors of dogs and wolves and were about the size of wolves in minecraft and were infact tameable sense some were more friendly towards humans than others or they can be descendants of domesticated dogs which would explain why they are so comfy with players but that's just a theory.
And pure breeds bad idea make them muts when they spawn around villages because pure breeds well have alot of health problems so muts would be better fit for minecraft.
