Every weapon and armorpiece has one or more enchantments except, the shield? The enchantments can even have similar properties to that of the sword, bow, or armor. You should add:
-Firebrand: sets mob on fire when the shield successfully blocks an attack
-Shockwave: increases knockback on mobs when making a successful block
-Barrage: the rarest of the shield enchantments, deals sweeping damage to a group of mobs in a successful block, but at a random chance like Thorns
-Fortress: could expand the radius of the shield's protection by one extra block, or it could give protection to another player one block adjacent to the wielder, whether or not that player had a shield that was plain or enchanted.

I Have a idea. I Think shield could have a enchantments like charging. it'll make you able to charge the shield. and Charges foward to mob. it affects a half of wielding weapon's damage.(Enchantment Will be applied and Enchantment damage boost won't be reduced.) if weapon has not wielded,it'll deal 2~4 hearts of damage instand. this enchant can applied with Firebrand,Shockwave,Barrage,And Fortress. Firebrand will make a Impaled mobs on fire, Shockwave will make A Shockwave Around 1~3 Blocks depending How higher level the enchant has. Barrage will increase Impale damage. and it'll Scatter 4~8 shards at 35˚ spread at front of the user. these shards will deal 2~4 damage per each shard,and it'll set entity on fire when Firebrand enchant has applied together. and shockwave enchant will make a Shard Explosive. a shard explosion won't break any blocks. but it'll deal a 1~2 damage with an 2 blocks of radius. shard color is Dark Orange at default, with firebrand,the shards will be on fire. with shockwave,the shards will make a windy particle. firebrand with shockwave shards will set nearby mobs on fire. and Level III Barrage will Create 8 Seekers. Those seekers will chase Nearby Hostile mobs targeting you,and It'll deal A 2 Heart damage. Seekers will only chase Nearby Hostile mobs,and Neutral mobs in Hostile State. and it'll chase a Impaled entity.
I personally think there should be a shield bash, and also a type of thorns on the shield if you block from something it gets damaged.
I would like to contribute more enchantments.
Adept- Increases move speed while shielding, Maximum speed be 25% more than the walking speed.
Charge- Attempting to run while shielding allows you to run to the direction you are facing. You cannot turn. Enemies hit will be knocked back and damaged. The levels of this enchantment will increase the knock back, damage, and distance traveled.
Bash- Exiting the shield while there are nearby mobs will knock them back, deal damage, and apply a short slow. Mutually exclusive to the Charge enchantment.
Reflect- Adds a chance to bounce back projectiles to the direction it came from.
Add enchantment to shield like thorns....so when you have been attack with a good sword the damage will gonna back into him but a half....Also enchantment like knock back it will be knock him bock far more away than a regular shield does
Maybe not making "Barrage" a random chance of activating, because RNG is bad game design. But overall, good idea. I voted.
Maybe a enchantment where when u block with the shielf it blocks in a full circle around you and when u use it with fortress to make the bubble bigger so range attacks like blaze skeleton llama or ghasts cant hit u
I disagree with most of these. Fireband is too op, fortress makes no sense, and barrage is just wierd. Shockwave could have a new name and work on arrows too. Thorns should be the other enchantment
I feel like firebrand doesn't exactly work in my own opinion but possibly something that may deal some damage to attacking mobs. Such as a shield with spikes on it, or thorns. Another possibility could be splintering in which when the shield takes damage it will send out projectiles in random directions in front of the player using the said shield, the only downside to this being the at the shield breaks quicker.
Despite I do not like some of these enchantments I upvoted this because hopefully Mojang will take a more scientific approach to this as well as add more consistency with this.
That being said:
- Thorns should be an enchantment that works on Shields
- Unbreakable should also be allowed to be on shields
Some of the enchantments you said are good but the names are lackluster or bad naming.
Good post either way.A mirror enchantment could be really useful too. It would have a chance of reflecting projectiles (Arrows, fire balls, even snowballs). It should be rare and have 3 or 4 levels, changing the probability of reflecting a projectile.
Generally, I like the concept of adding more shield enchantments. However, I think some of the ideas such as firebrand and barrage are not appropriate as sometimes the shield might be used in some situations where it’s purely used as an defensive tool, such as when facing neutral mobs or transporting hostile mobs.
also they need Unbrakeing so they dont break and you loose everything on it
How about mending and undertaking? It needs those.
There should also be different tiers to shields, because they need to be nerfed.
Stone ~ Decreases maylay damage, but does not block it. Player cannot move at all when blocking.
Iron ~ Blocks maylay damage, but not ranged or blasts.
Gold ~ Blocks ranged and maylay, but not explosions. Has fast recovery speed, but lower durability
Diamond ~ Blocks all damage, and has a slightly slower recovery than gold.
first of all, FORTRESS IS NOT LIKE UNBREAKING!
Fortress is an interesting and unique idea, it is like a tank or support enchant.
And I think this idea is great.
I've thought about shield enchantments for awhile, too! Here are some ideas:
- Roots: Nullifies knockback you take when the shield is in use.
- Reinforced: Makes the shield less likely to be knocked out by axes, pierced by crossbows or lasers, and has a chance to repel effects from splash potions and lingering potion zones. Could be very helpful against pillager raids, guardians, and the Ender Dragon.
- Bash: Knocks back any entity that hits the shield. Enables larger arrow bounces, and knocking enemies off cliffs.
- Thorns: Whenever your shield is up, there is a small chance that a melee enemy will be damaged slightly.
- Quick Charge: Deploys your shield faster. Imagine being able to snap up your shield immediately when you hear a creeper hiss or a bow being fired, and actually block the damage. That is, after all, the reason you have a shield, so why not add a way of rewarding players for good reflexes?
- Fire Aspect: Take the existing enchantment for igniting a foe in melee combat, and put it on a shield.
- Juggernaut: Move at walking speed and enable swimming with your shield up. I imagine this could be very helpful fighting guardians and elder guardians.
- Blast Protection: Prot, Fire Prot, and Proj Prot are out. However, Blast Protection could make some sense on a shield. Ordinarily, a shield doesn't prevent all damage or knockback from an explosion... but what if it did?

Enchantments follow the Shield is unbreaking only
You could add unbreaking to the shield and a new enchantment called recoil. It would make the attacker get pushed back farther when they hit a active shield.
Parry Enchantment would be a nice addition.
It would reflect damage to an opposing entity by releasing the shield at the appropriate time.
For a good idea on what it would look like I'd look up the game Dead Cells.
Other enchantments can be:
-Magic block: will block witch potions, evoker magic, etcetera.
-Duplication: you will be able to acquire one of your opponent's attacks every time the shield's block is successful, and it can also block any kind of attack from any mob or player, for example: if you're fighting the Wither with this shield, if you successfully block a Wither skull attack with your shield, you will be able to shoot a Wither skull yourself, and it does the same amount of damage, it could be an item in your inventory that looks like an enchanted wither skeleton skull for instance, and the same will work for any attack.
Here's the enchantment I would add.
Castle: Makes the shield protect you from all directions, can be activated by crouching and using the shield. It will also protect other entities (but I think that it should drain your hunger bar faster than normal.
Honestly I feel there is no reason to add brand new enchantments. Shockwave should be knockback, barrage should be thorns and firebrand fire aspect. Fortress is cool and should stay this does give the shield new enchantments to use which are basically the same.
Honestly, these ideas are great, but could use improvement. Firebrand is a little too OP, and perhaps should be toned down and instead make you immune to fire damage from things like blaze fireballs and flaming arrows when using the shield and make any arrows that hit the shield become set on fire. I love Shockwave, and I think it should be kept as is. Barrage is also quite OP, and the Thorns enchantment is a good replacement. Fortress is great, but perhaps should be changed to protect you on all sides and protect you from arrows shot from crossbows with the Piercing enchantment.
What about a deflect enchantment kt would deflect projectls further away

Successfully Parry an arrow/projectile that sends it back to where-ence it came, like sending a ghast explosive back to the ghast. It could be called: Reflect l 30% chance, Reflect ll 60% chance, Reflect lll 90% chance...
You actually kind of need this for the upcoming nether 1.16 update because the soul soil parts are infested with ghasts and skeletons.
Or make a Mob/Mini boss/Boss that drops an Enchanted shield with Unbreaking lll and Reflect (l) lll
