Every weapon and armorpiece has one or more enchantments except, the shield? The enchantments can even have similar properties to that of the sword, bow, or armor. You should add:
-Firebrand: sets mob on fire when the shield successfully blocks an attack
-Shockwave: increases knockback on mobs when making a successful block
-Barrage: the rarest of the shield enchantments, deals sweeping damage to a group of mobs in a successful block, but at a random chance like Thorns
-Fortress: could expand the radius of the shield's protection by one extra block, or it could give protection to another player one block adjacent to the wielder, whether or not that player had a shield that was plain or enchanted.

Fortress is exactly the same as unbreaking and the shield already knocks back mob upon blocking.
How about if you successfully block an arrow, there might be a enchantment that sends it back to where-ence it came
The idea of adding enchantments to shield is really great, but I'll go with less strong ones. For example, thorns would be really appropriate.
Bro how do you only have 73 votes on this! You got my support with my vote bro! Don't worry!
Dude that Fortress enchantment gave me the goosies
I was thinking about adding in enchantments for the shield but I'm glad you did because those names say everything!
You should make an enchantment that expands protection around a block area. So say that one player has a shield(that's enchanted with this enchantment that I'm suggesting) and another player has nothing. The player that has the shield blocks the attack with the other player right next to them, the attack is blocked and the two players are safe. It's expanding the protection to the nearby player that's next to the shield. I feel like that would be cool. Plz add that in my friend.
i have some ideas too: economy/saving:a legendary and rare enchantment like mending. when applied it give you a chance of 50% to receive arrows when an arrow hits your shield(ive got this idea from assassins creed!)
ramming: like saving is rare. when you are blocking with shield and double taping w (forward), it allows you to dash forward and ram enemies! notes: 1.it makes you hunger 1.5 point 2.you will lose your control (like ) and keep going for 15 meters(15blocks). 3.this enchant mutually exclusive with saving. 4.you will automatically jump if you reach a block, or fall and still keep going if you reach a hole.
Did I see an addition in the Fortress enchantment?
I hope your idea gets accepted in game because the Shield is one of my fav. weapons. Also, more combat possibilities.
Alright, One shield enchantment could be Protector. Whenever the shield hits succsesfuly, It can turn it into a wolf that fights for you...
I know , It sounds crazy..
I like the idea of the enchantments, but I think that it would be cool if you could also craft some effects into/onto a shield;
- add gold/iron/diamond to a shield to give it more durability and protection (and a different look)
- craft a banner onto a shield to decorate it
- craft some swords onto the shield to add some visible spikes (and the thorns enchantment)
Perhaps also add a "disguise" enchantment that (when you crouched with the shield) copied the block you were standing on as an illusion over the two blocks you occupy; this would also make you invisible to any hostile mobs.
How about an enchantment that bonds the player to the shield so that when the player gets hit where the shield isn't the player takes less damage
I would be fine if they just let us put unbreaking, thorns, mending and curses on shields, since that's the only (currently implemented) enchantment that would make sense to put on it. Special enchantments specifically for shields would be cool too, though I'm not sure how I feel about the ones suggested.
These are cooooool 😎 but I think fire brand is quite unbalanced.
It should also have a stunning one for when you perfectly parry an attack and it causes them to become stunned
Put protection enchantments in shields and some armors enchantments like Thorns would be nice, but the shield is already too op defending explosions so we could add the blast protection enchantments and nerf the enchanted shield
I completely agree with this idea! Although several already existing enchantments should be allowed for shields in an enchantment table as well, such as protection, thorns, etc.
harming knockback 1 potion same as knockback take damage from mob in pain not player put all potions in shield too and potions weapons too
Any of the Protection enchantments AND Thorns would be more than great additions to the Shield to make it even more helpful in combat. Also add true iron and diamond shields to the game modifying the recipe to include more iron or more diamonds in place of the wooden sections of the shield. Obviously, these shields would have more durability than the standard wooden one.
YES!!
Growth: The Shield itself expands to block you and another player or two
Boomerang Shield: When you can throw your shield at a mob and it comes right back
Did you know you can enchant the shield with mending? For the rest, you are right
There could also be parry, which sends projectiles back a certain distance depending on the level of the enchantment, and maybe one that could prevent you from being burned, allowing you to block blaze fireballs. This could be tied in with parry to allow you to send fireballs back at blazes(probably only for knockback, as they’re made of fire)
You could do an enchantment where hitting the shield does extra damage to the weapon
Enchantments for the shield:
Flare: Gives your shield a flame enchanted look. Sends arrows/projectiles that struck the shield to set on fire and reflect off back towards the enemy who shot the shield.
Thorns: Gives the shield a badass spikey look and damages melee attackers or enemies who get too close.
Blinding1,2,3: Gives your shield a shiny/glossy enchantment look. Blinds enemies with bright light(s) emitting from the shield somewhat blinding enemies and making it more difficult to attack you, slightly slows/confuses enemy mobs, depending on the mob.
Absorber: Requires special item attached to shield before enchanting. Gives a dark firey enchantment look but gets brighter the more projectiles it absorbs. Very rare enchantment that eats projectiles that hit the shield feeding a certain rare special item is attached to the shield. Absorbs arrows, potions, fire charges, wither attacks and other projectiles. Does not eat tridents.
Frost Blocker: Gives your shield an ice/frozen enchantment look. Shortly slows down melee attacking enemies and depending on the attack of the hostile mob it will freeze them for a certain duration. The weaker the attack the longer the freezing effect.
