Nope. All mobs are agender in Minecraft, meaning they lack a gender. This is shown by cattle that have both udders and horns (although there is a species of cow where the females have horns) and chickens that both lay eggs and have those frilly bits.

Giving dogs genders would break consistency and most likely start a controversy, since it would be seen to be enforcing gender roles.

I agree with Camcamcam753, anyway, you can already dye the collars of dogs, if it was the dog that was coloured that would just be weird.

ALSO that would be kinda stereotyping pink doesn’t mean female

Ehh, turtles kind of have a gender since only one of them lays eggs and only feamale turtles lay eggs

No, collar colors and only collars. Maybe instead of things like that you can make... hm, IK!

In real life, the adult female wolves are the fastest in the pack. If wolves were given new features, they would have ranks, but, still no gender. Minecraft is meant to be like that.

Since this has 50 votes I feel compelled to express my dislike: Absolutely no.  I really appreciate that Minecraft is for the most part (except for the player characters) agnostic about sex/gender and doesn't concern itself with it at all; that is so refreshing in a game.  And I most especially do not want it to take on stereotypical gender roles and this artificial nonsense about associating pink with girls and blue with boys which is beyond annoying in real life.  If you want to play your dogs as male and female dogs, you can dye their collars accordingly.

it should bc you don't know what genders the dogs/wolfs are if u could do that it would really help me out!

I don’t agree with this idea because Minecraft is supposed to have animals that have no gender, if this were added it would break this “rule” and wolves would start looking weird. Another reason is if new types of wolves/dogs were added it would break the color that makes a species a species.

Gotta disagree, all mobs are agender and have traits of both genders, they are meant to be that way. And coloring the genders would be enforcing gender roles which people are tired of. Just dye the collar pink or blue if that's what you want, but they also shouldn't be colored because gray wolves are gray, regardless of gender, so it's silly as that opinionated gender role color aspect only exists in humans.

This would only work if all mobs were given genders, which is unlikely. Mobs share traits of both genders, cattle having udders (cows) and horns (bulls, despite some species where the cows have horns too), chickens having combs (cockerels) and laying eggs (hens).
