When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Auto fire on sight would be too much.

Well then how would you make an automatic defense system?

This does not seem vanilla in any way, shape, or form.

And as for automatic defense systems, you can already do such a thing if you're creative enough.  Docm77 did quite a system of traps in his Hermitcraft season 5 base (this video and the two after it are probably the best to look at)

He used mob AIs to be the automatic detecting and targeting systems.

An auto-cannon, however, just does not fit the vanilla game.  You have lots of clever options for redstone traps available already.

This seems like a good idea at first glance but then when you think about it it won’t fit into a vanilla game

I like the idea of a stronger dispenser, but idk if the rest of it is really "vanilla" as people say. Maybe just shoot things faster and make arrows hit harder

Cannons should have to be operated by a player, if they can automate then they're machine guns at that point and not really cannons. Cool idea though, and maybe another use could be to launch players, entities, and blocks into the air!

The player should have a screen that lets them aim the super dispenser.

And it cannot launch tnt that would make the tnt cannon useless but explosive fire charges could be added and they are fire charges but they explode and with a 4 block radius.

I disagree. It would take the fun out of building tnt cannons. Also minecraft states that guns of any kind, including cannons, will never be added to the game - and for good reason.

It would be so cool if you can light it with flint & steel! And you could put things in it, like cannonballs

cool idea but since it's a cannon it can't auto fire, and you can't adjust it's power. Or it's basically one of those guns used in world war 2

This is already possible in Minecraft

I think it will work if it's player controlled and it should do high damage because there is currently no way to defend an attack on your base. But it should be expensive to maintain as it would need a lot of gunpower to work.

This seems suspiciously like a gun, which Mojang has made clear they won’t put in minecraft. Second, any player experienced enough in redstone can make things that would fill the role of this, and if a player isn’t experienced enough, they can copy from a tutorial or ask a more experienced member.
