Good idea. I think these oasis should spawn near villages, since it would make sense to build a village next to a water source.

The palm trees should be slightly bigger than oak trees in height, and have a structure comparable with acacia trees, but with different leaf generation. It could also be an opportunity to add bananas.

Rabbits should be programmed to go to a water source every once in a while. Since the desert lacks water apart from oasis, they gather around the oasis, making it a good place to set up a rabbit farm.

However, to counter this, I think it could be a good idea to add some sort of predator too, like snakes. Snakes can be spread over different biomes and also have the water searching behaviour. They can hunt the rabbits and are neutral unless provoked or hungry, more or less similar to their natural behaviour.

So a rabbit rework, a new mob and a new type of tree. Could bring more life into the wastelands that are the deserts.

I would like some more details, other than palm trees, and bamboo, like what would they look like, how big are they, how rare are they, what are there benefits? Doin that would give more detail to your suggestion, and would really make it better.

Adding oasis always seemed like a neat idea, but I think Minecraft itself is the fundamental flaw of an oasis...

You see, in naturally generating worlds, biomes are not very much far apart from eachother. Oasis, given that they should have a respectable size in a simultaneously not very big but very common desert biomes would make oasis not feel like much of an occurrence, unless they are super rare. But even then, probably 200/500 block away in any direction there is another biome, which 99.9 percent of the time would feature water, if thats a forest, a savanna, an ocean or an iceberg.

Also, considering deserts as dull and boring is definitely false. Mind you, in deserts there are the most structures you can find in a single biome, tying only the ocean biomes( if you consider the Buried Treasure one), which are the villages, the temples and the super rare wells. Lets also not forget the super rare Mesa Deserts, which you might consider a new biome, they are still deserts to their core, just very rare at that,  with different blocks and generations.

Honestly, if you look in other biomes, the desert is one of the least in need of an overhaul in my opinion.

It would be nice adding oasis specific fish types as item and mob, IDK if kilifish fits but they would be nice, also cichlids would.

Desert palms should be date palms, whereas beach palms could be coconut palms.

Adding prickly pears would be a nice addition for desert edibles. Or even Dragon fruit, although dragon fruit cactus are actually epiphytes that would be better suited in the jungle.
Agave and Aloe vera would make a nice aesthetic addition. Or could be used for crafting potions.

If you're gonna add oasis, you should remove desert rivers, ponds etc. to make it useful in desert

I like this idea, however, as you may or may not have heard... Bamboo and Palm trees are currently being made!🎉

An oasis would make the game more realistic! More real world fun.

Oasis is a great idea. They would be decently rare. Maybe around 6-8 blocks wide and long, 1-4 blocks deep. With grass blocks around it, and palm trees. I don’t think bamboo should be at oasis’s. But, bamboo could spawn in jungle or thick forests?

It would allow for desert spawns to allow players wood from trees growing near the oasis, and it would help to 'modernize' the desert biome, which only just indirectly got an update from village & pillage. No extra biomes, no unique mobs, and only an outdated pyramid structure. Oases would be a step towards improving deserts and allow for players to use deserts in survival.

Oasi should have a village around or at least near them, like Alejandro Baars pointed out.

to be fair, adding stuff to the Minecraft biomes like the oasis really does liven things up, this way, we, as Minecraft players, will have more sights to see, more things to do, more creative ideas to give, stuff like that.

so many things to create, so little time.

Good Idea, just I think adding tropical fish in these oasis' would be really cool. Or maybe even camels that come here to drink the water. Just and idea though. :)

Even some way to get a greener grass in the desert.  If you try to make your own oasis, it will still look like dead grass, rather than the kind of verdant green you'd expect from having water so close.

A lot of biomes have no detail, or very little, it not just the desert. There also needs to be camels and fennec foxes!

I think that the oasis should be rare and if you were to pass one there should be some living animals near it not many but not too little.

I think an oasis should replace the desert well its ugly and has no purpose. Maybe in the oasis you could find treasure under the sand. The loot table could include maps to various structures as well. Sort of like stuff lost by travelers on their way to someplace else. @travelbytrain its confirmed no for this update. Remember at minecon they voted and Taiga was chosen, not deserts

I agree, the desert is too boring. Palm trees and oasis would be great! A unique hostile mob such as scorpions at night would make Bane of Arthropods more useful, too.

Oases in the desert could simply replace the lakes that dot the landscape. Here is an opportunity to add more flora that can give players builds a more exotic look, that can be planted on beaches and jungles to enhance your bases there. They simply need to give splashes of life in the desert, no need for it to provide an inherent benefit to the player. I think in many players minds, they are imagining a Date Palm, wrt Oases, which have this kind of pineapple looking topper. They would grow in the general area of a lake. Around the trees you could have Saw Palmettos, huge fans of pointy leaves. Very tropical and would look great for terraforming. Alternatively, agave or aloe vera. I think pointy is what we're after lol. These could be used for healing. Finally, we absolutely 100% need dune grass, a grass plantable in sand. Again, very useful for builds and terraforming. I am desperate for sand grass, I will make entire builds around glitched out grass on sand. Check out my Desert Flora suggestion for the details. Any grass blocks in an oasis should be a verdant green color, with a gradient to normal desert coloring. Finding a large Oasis and building there would give players some leeway with the color scheme when terraforming. I will also suggest a unique flower, every biome should have one IMO. Perhaps a purple/yellow Verbena. Purple, yellow, pink, green and earth tones, red terracotta/sandstone fit the desert in my mind. Endless possibilities.

I would add but on a new biome, because the deserts on the past was announced like a difficult biome, but with time it was easier. Finally the essence of the desert should keep, but your idea is beatifoul for other biome, like what happened in the swamp and the mangrove swamp.

palm trees would have coconuts, and it would be a great source of water in the desert!
