Oasis

There are no oasis in the game the desert is pretty plain and adding oasi would make it better including palms and bamboo.

    I'd love palm trees, more cacti variants , more passive mobs like camels that you could tame and ride.

    The desert biome is so extremely underwhelming atm and it would be great if it recieved some more attention.

    An oasis sub biome in deserts would be interesting, however deserts already have a few naturally generating structures, such as desert temples and villages (desert wells too, but nobody cares about those) which both spawn frequently enough. Personally, I would prefer changes and additions to other, less focused on biomes, such as a savanna (they do have villages, but that's it as far as I'm aware) update or a birch forest update. Structures or features similar in style to the oasis idea would be nice, especially in these practically empty biomes. Actually, an oasis feature separate from the desert could replace a certain percentage of normal beach biomes or something, and be specifically where buried treasure spawns, to give us a little more to go on as the maps aren't always perfect (at least in my experience I have the worst luck digging those things up and with more to go on in terms of a specific landmarks it would make the whole treasure hunting experience a little less frustrating).

    There is the "well", but you are right, this does not count as an "oasis". A small pond, some palm trees (announced ;)  ) and some bamboo, and maybe a skeleton with a treasure chest would make searching for oasis interesting!

    I think they'd only spawn in large deserts. And offer some kind of special food. It wouldn't be practical unless living in deserts was difficult. 

    Maybe that's how desert villages spawn, as an oasis?

    These oasi would be the perfect place for palm trees to spawn (as they were announced at minion to be coming later after 1.14). I don't think palm trees should spawn on their own into the world, but rather only in a mini-biome such as bamboo in the bamboo forest (that mini-biome being the oasis). They could also maybe very rarely spawn in on their own, but I don't think they should be numerous anywhere outside beaches or oasis.

    not bamboo but papyrus and more chance of a village nearby which would be bigger and more advanced than normal villages and a small desernt bloom around the oasis

    Yes, the desert is being updated. The order for biome upgrading is: Taiga(1.14), Savanna, and Desert.

    The event for the oasis described in another post could also be considered for this, it seemed like a neat idea

    I don't think there should be bamboo. Like FarmhandDevlin said, the palms should bear dates. Dates could be smelted to make dried dates. Both are edible. Oases could have rivers leading out from them, and an oasis village spawns near it, but not always. Oasis villagers have trades for dates and other plants like agave, aloe vera, prickly pears cacti. Succulents would make up the main plant blocks, and they can grow on sand only in the oasis biome. Oasis biomes don't have grass blocks. They only appear green because of succulents spawning like grass (minecraft:grass). Oasis biomes spawn ~8-10 blocks below sea level inside a ring of sand hills.

    Oasis and palm trees are already going to come out in Minecraft. They where in the biome chooser at minecon 2018.

    Camels in Minecraft. They could be like donkeys but they can hold more stuff and could be decorated with carpet like llamas. You can also ride them.

    Oasis can be like islands, with beaches and a jungle like forest.  Palm and coconut trees would be ideal as well as new mobs specific to that environment.  Crabs and small birds would add life to the beach while monkeys and and other new jungle creatures to roam freely in the lush vegetation.  We could introduce more fruits, plants, and trees and maybe special new ocean life that swims around the oasis.  We could even introduce more tools, weapons, and armor using the new oasis materials.  The oasis is a great idea to give more reason to explore the oceans aside from ocean monuments, but this would be a special update and I hope it gets added!

    I was thinking about this idea, too. Mostly because of ihascupquake, but imagine if it was a whole biome, not an improvement on deserts! Like a sub-biome maybe. If they added it as a greener sort of savanna or more lively/tropical desert near water, it'd be nice to stumble upon. Maybe in savanna variants: ostriches, elephants, giraffes, and possums. In tropical desert variants: camels, meerkats, sloths, and koalas. 

    Perhaps palms would be towards the shores and cycads and desert needlegrass in the inner desert parts.

    If they were to add camels then they could guide you to the nearest oasis similar to dolphins leading you to treasure.

    I feel that the oasis should be beautiful. Which they have a waterfall and flowers as well as palm trees and bamboo

    I was also thinking that deserts are pretty plain besides desert temples ( which need an update because there pretty boreing, unlike a woodland mansion) and also castus don't have much use . Adding  some more things would be nice, maybe adding more useful stuff
