Quicksand Blocks

The quicksand block can spawn naturally in desert and mesa biomes. There are two different varients of this block, the red quicksand and the normal quicksand. The normal quick sand can be crafted in the two-by-two with two sand blocks, and two soul sand blocks. It looks just like regular sand so the player will have to be more careful when walking through the desert. The red quicksand can also be crafted in the two-by-two with two redsand blocks and two soul sand blocks. The red quicksand also looks like redsand and is way more dangerous that the regular quicksand. When stuck in a quicksand pool, you start sufficating, but in the red quicksand pool, it's harder to break than the regular quicksand that's why it more dangerous than regular quicksand, because when trapped, it'll be harder to escape. I figured this will add a challenge to minecraft players and also help spruce up the desert a little more. It can also be used for defence, trolling, and decoration.

    Quicksand should have water in it's crafting recipe

    It would probably make more sense in jungles since that’s usually where quicksand is

    How about that: It looks ALMOST like normal sand, but if you walk over it and get sucked in, the block gets animated!

    while I like the idea of quicksand...quicksand is "quick" because it is more water than sand so you sink into it. It wouldn't appear in desert biomes but possibly ocean/water biomes.

    it can also spawn in jungle too, but it has to look similar to wet sand

    I like the idea of Quicksands in Minecraft.
    Though I do not believe that it should be crafteable, it could be very much grabbed with a bucket like liquids.
    It's texture would be the same as normal sand or red sand, but slightly oversaturated.
    The affects should be slow movement and suffocation, and I don't believe it needs different effects between the two variants.
    It is most common in jungles so it should obviously spawn there, but it could also be added the Quicksand Desert biome where you would feel just like in a regular Desert biome.

    I like this idea, and reading through the comments, I actually agree with daniel andrade on harvesting and texture. The only thing I disagree with is not being able to craft it. I think that if you were to use a bucket, you can put sand in top of a water bucket in the crafting table to get it. Admittedly, I understand their logic on why not, but it's just a thought

    Red quicksand should also generate in the Badlands biomes and variants. The normal quicksand would also generate naturally in beach biomes and variants rarely.

    I agree with this idea. I would love to see quick sand in this game, especially in jungle biomes. When you first encounter quicksand, you should sink slowly. When the player starts to sprint out of quicksand, they will sink faster and will eventually suffocate. To get out, the player would have to hold shift until they reach the top and then walk off the quicksand while still holding shift. Quick sand should affect mobs as well (make sure not to bring your animals near this stuff).

    Have the quicksand have a slightly different color. Like dirt and coarse dirt.

    I think if we get quicksand we should also have sinking mud for jungles and swamps.

    Given the new powder snow I think this would be fantastic! I think it should show up in biomes such as beaches, swamps or jungles, as that's where it naturally does. It should behave similarly to powdered snow in that you can go through it and pick it up with a bucket, but differently (for instance you only sink if you move around quickly. to contrast this, quicksand would also be more lethal in that it would inflict suffocation damage instead of freezing.

    It could work in a similar way to powder snow, but it would deal choking damage. The player would only collapse in it when he moved.

    oh and also here are the biomes i think it should be in:

    normal: jungle and beach

    red: mesa and badlands

    Quicksand should convert Zombies to Husk's. Or convert Drowned into Zombies...

     

    Thematically this doesnt really add up, since quicksand is partially water.

    But functionally it fills a spot allowing players to farm husks.

     

    If we wanted to get nit picky... we could have Quicksand and "Dry Quicksand"... and you would get dry quicksand by putting quicksand in a Furnace. You could waterlog Dry Quicksand to convert it back to Quicksand. ... and DRY quicksand would be used to convert Zombies to Husks.

    Functionally Dry Quicksand could act differently from Quicksand. Dry quicksand, you would drop downward quickly into it. Regular Quicksand, you would only descend in, if you moved quickly. this would also allow quicksand and dry quicksand to be used in different applications, like down elevators for dry quicksand.
