At the bottom of a underwater chasm, there is a very small chance of a prismarine cache spawning there. The cache will be a maze of prismarine with new blocks made of pearl and limestone. At the end is a portal similar to the End portal. It would be activated by placing a heart of the sea in a special block in front of it.
You won't be able to enter until you have a special helmet. It is called The Helm of The Deep, and it is crafted by three iron blocks on each of the sides of the crafting grid, a glass block (any color) in the bottom, and a nether star in the center with a gold ingot above it. The color of the glass will change the color of the helmet's visor. (It looks like a very old sea diving helmet.) This helmet gives you twenty minutes of water breathing, but has to be re-filled by going to the surface. It will take just as long to re-fill, so don't go too crazy with it.
Now you can enter the portal. It will transport you to The Deep. It is a new underwater biome that is inside a massive cave system that goes on for kilometers. Here you can find massive glowing purple Jellyfish, several different types of large and small crabs on the sandy and rocky floor and maybe even some kind of sea snake. Each animal would drop a special and useful item if killed.
Not that this biome is very dark, but there would be glowing plants and and animals to help you navigate the area. You could also bring sea lanterns or glowstone to help you out if you do not have any night vision potions.
You might also find Deep Villages. The people here will trade extremely rare resources or special food items to help you navigate this new biome. Their villages are small towers and forts made of a new block. Shellstone. There are chiseled variants as well as pillar versions, too. The block is a white-green color and is made from collecting shells from the sea floor in The Deep. You craft them like you would stone bricks. You may also be trading for the Ocean Boots. These let you swim much faster and can push away small creatures that come near you while using them.
There is another layer to The Deep, as you travel farther down, glowing plants and animals will become more rare, and you will encounter more dangerous creatures. You might find a Deep Sea Angler fish hanging around, luring you to it's jaws with it's light.
However, the real goal to go down here is for The Crimson. It is a massive leviathan wandering the very bottom of The Deep. It can only be hurt by enchanted weapons, the trident does more damage. The Crimson will roar and attempt to eat the player, but it's attacks can be dodged by the Ocean Boots.
Killing the Crimson will reward you with The Wand of Waves. This tool will allow the player to ride the waves while holding the wand out while on the surface of any water source. It will let you travel extremely fast over oceans and lakes and will allow you to summon huge waves from the ocean to hit any hostile mobs that are close to any large water source.
