Too much of the Nether looks the same. You should add a sort of dead tree grove that comes in two new wood variants:
- Furnal Ash: a fiery-red wood with burnt, black tree bark. Unlike other wood, it is fireproof. Furnal Ash trees don't have leaves but have skeletal, protruding branches. Naturally grows in clusters anywhere with open enough space in the Nether. Saplings can be grown on Netherrack, Soul Sand, Magma Blocks, and Dirt or Grass.
- Tombwood: a green-gray wood that is fireproof and has the blast resistance of stone. Its bark has a scaly texture as opposed to that of the other logs. As it is harder and more petrified than the other wood variants, it'll require at least an iron axe to harvest. Unlike Furnal Ash, Tombwood only grows upon Soul Sand, and it has desaturated-purple leaves.
The End has forests of chorus plants, maybe the Nether could have some underworldly groves? As this dimension will need an expansion of features to match with the recent updates, this could be one way to better create an enveloping, alien world.
Below is a concept on what these new trees and wood variants would look like as simulated via resource pack.
