OMG! This is an amazing idea! I would love bees and honey in Minecraft! Also, how many food points would honey restore? And the bears sound great too!

I like it, but I think the drop should be random like a melon, but require 9 honeycombs to craft a hive, which could eventually grow to more hives if you plant enough flowers nearby.

  • Avatar

Yes that's a great idea but the damage should be the same as the silverfish! Each hit half a heart! To make it more challenging! And of course they should be really hard to hit because of their hitbox (like silverfish/vex/teeny tiny zombie)!

Good, but maybe bees are attracted to flowers when a bee is on a flower block another flower will grow within 200 blocks also the amount of bees actually in the hive should be hundreds the queen bee the like a mini boss but neutral also whenever the hive is empty you can shear the hive to get honey or strip it with an axe for wet honeycomb the wet huneycomb can be used in a cauldron the cauldron will fill 1/3 with honey and you will have dry honycomb. The honeycomb makes a bare hive which will become a normal hive when a soon-to-be queen bee goes in it. Bees will be 1/200 of a block (a teeny tiny striped cube with teeny tiny wings) and the queen bee 1/100 of a block. The pretty much only way to defeat bees is to swat them with a metal mesh but as long as you approach slowly they will stay neutral

Why would I want to attract bears? There is literally only one type of bear at the moment, and Polar bears don't even eat honey.

I wanna make an addition to this idea, I think beehives must be in specific biomes and trees. Also bees should spawn only when you destroy the hive. Honey might restore 1 food bar and 0 saturation and it will heal you 2 hearts almost instantly but you can't eat another honey for 30 secs (this can help you recover hp quickly).

Bees are necessary for everything so why not let se this as an opportunity to educat players on proper bee care.

  • Avatar

A slight addition, active beehives should increase the productivity of all plant farms and should need close proximity to flowers to not perish. This creates a need to plant flowers in base.

Amazing idea!! Maybe the honey could also be used to craft some other foods?

Hi, pretty good idea! I would have suggested the same but i would add the ideas that the honey can be used for crafting sticky piston or bake cakes.

I would also love this idea. It would be great to see the appreciation for the most popular pollinators to be recognised. I think it would help with the appreciation towards the importance of these wonderful insects 🙂

They should also drop wax and be found in the flower forest Biome.

In the real world, bees die when they sting. Because of that, you will have to get stung by three different bees. Good idea, though!

I agree i am building a zoo and a honey bear enclosure flooded with bees nice and i remember the first time i got stung i was camping which reminds me of bears

  • Avatar

Could they attack you if you attack the bee. I like your idea and I think bees could attack you if you whack there hive, or the actual bee.

I think that you shouldn’t be able to harvest honey without breaking it, making beekeeping a thing

I'd tweak this a little but it otherwise seems good.

Many times yes to this. I would love bees and bees need love.

This is something I’ve wanted for a long time- a few of my thoughts:
Two bees could spawn near each hive at world generation. The bees would go through a “wander” cycle of about 20-40 seconds where they move randomly, then they go into “pollinate mode”. Which means, in essence, that they seek out a flower within ten blocks and go straight to it. If this search is successful, the bee will then randomly choose one of four things:
-bonemeal the flower, creating one or more flowers of the same type within a small radius.
    -regenerate to full health.
-search for a crop within ten blocks and “pollinate” it, roughly the equivalent of using half a bonemeal on it.
-break the flower and spawn another bee. (This one is only rarely chosen)
After doing one of these things, the bee will search for a beehive within, say, 64 blocks and return to it. If the bee finds no beehive, it will seek out the nearest oak leaves block and replace it with a beehive. Then, after either returning to the hive, creating a new hive, or failing to do both, the bee will return to “wander” mode for 20-40 seconds.
I like the idea that breaking a hive makes bees hostile to you within a large radius. I definitely think the bees should deal a lot of damage and have very small hitboxes, so that running at a hive with an axe is generally a stupid idea. However, I think hives should break when you push them with a piston, and bees will not become hostile in that case.
I like the idea of breaking beehives to get honeycomb, but I think they should drop 2-3 honeycomb when broken, and 4 could be crafted into another beehive, rather than dropping the beehive itself. And I think it’s fine if honey doesn’t restore a lot of hunger and saturation when you eat it, but I think it would be a nice touch if it removed potion effects from anyone who ate it, just like milk.
Making bees bonemeal crops would add a great new farming element to the game; a large swarm of bees could keep your crops growing extremely quickly, and make your farm feel more alive. Also, the effort (and maybe danger) of moving beehives to bring the bees into your base would be a fun and rewarding challenge for all difficulties from peaceful to hardcore.

I came here to suggest this! Here’s my pitch, hives should be large like a small scale temple, made out of honeycomb blocks, which are made from 9 honeycomb items that bees drop when killed. Hives are in flower forests. They become hostile when the player is in a certain vicinity of the hive. Otherwise they fly around flowers peacefully. There can be regular bees and the queen bee in the hive, just like guardians vs elder guardians. You can get honey by using a bucket on a honeycomb, which will turn it into a dry honeycomb, similar to sponges. And this also opens up I new type of farming, bee farming, you can have like bee racks made out of dry honeycomb that bees will spawn near if there are flowers around and will resaturate it.

I don’t like the idea of having to destroy hives for honey. Maybe you could use a bucket on it and get a bucket of honey (or a bucket of honeycomb that you can change somehow into a bucket of honey. Possibly get some wax as well but idk what for)

I honestly believe that if they'll ever add bees and honey, I think they should give the milk's status effect-removing properties to honey. It fits it much better considering honey has healing properties, and milk... is just milk.

Or maybe it should only remove negative effects, but that'd need to be balanced well.

Hey! This is almost exactly the same as mine, I’m not complaining, I just think it’s cool others want the same thing as me, except I wanted honey bears too! So they could eat the honey from the beehives!
