When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

But redstone dust (non-solid) is not a wire (solid). I had made a suggestion that solves this problem along with others: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360009229472-Redstone-parity-Solving-quasi-connectivity-by-redstone-dust-block-

@WildStrongGamer: As an amateur redstoner I totally agree we need a simpler way to allow redstone signals to go vertically up & down, without tall redstone dust towers/steps

@ SpecialisToL: I too also came up with an idea some time ago for a craftable block(rod) to allow redstone signals to travel up/down....The 'Redstone rod'/'Redstone Rod Repeater'... which I posted on the minecraft forums

Maybe you could craft a sort of sticky redstone by combining redstone dust and a slime ball, so it sticks to the block.

There used to be a mod on java edition that used slime ball and redstone dust to make red stone paste and that could be run up walls not only dust but could also use slime on repeaters and comparators it let you run them up walls or on ceilings

no, only make it so it goes up slime blocks

To be honest, I don't understand the problem here. The problem is so easy to solve with existing mechanics. In 2xNx1 space (place dust on top slabs alternating on each side for up only, use glass instead for bi-directional). What is it that bothers people so much that it has to be done in 1xNx1 space? There are 3 separate suggestions for this "problem", 4 if you include mine which has an entirely different purpose, and this one has one of the highest number of votes in redstone section. I think the real issue may be lack of explanation for how redstone works, maybe a dedicated part in the help section explaining the basics.

Redstone should be changed into a wire and be called redstone wire/wires.

There are a couple options here:
    1. Redstone Paste - Created by mixing redstone and slime balls. Looks the same as normal redstone but with a green hue and can be placed on walls ceilings.

    2. Redstone Wire - Recipe here could be similar or a bit more complex, maybe adding a new ore like copper (copper + redstone + slime balls = redstone wire). Same functionality described above, but the looks would be more like an actual wire with a 2x2 3d model perhaps to provide some shape. Still would have to be placed on a block to work.

    3. Redstone Pipe - This is probably the most advanced implementation of this idea. It would essentially function as its own block but look like a pipe. This way you could route redstone signals in any direction (e.g. up and down now) in a single vertical 1x1 column without using other blocks as support. The use of copper or another sturdy material here would also make a lot of sense.

True, but Minecraft should add new redstone components such as wires and block spinners and they should make a sticky block that sticks to redtone components only.. because they won't stick to the blocks around elevators

How about sticky redstone? Crafted with a slimeball giving it the ability to be placed up the sides of blocks, up walls and possibly ceilings if possible. If redstone was able to be placed on top and bottom, left and right of a block you would have a full-duplex cable with 2 lines of output and 2 of input around one block.

This obsolete redstone system has been around for years and never has changed and is not now that they will change it, even if it is not consistent with reality

You can place it on walls but wouldn't it be cool to place it under a block

I agree but you should have to add 1 slime to 8 redstone dust and call it redstone paste. also if we could get sticky components even if it only works on top and bottom of blocks that'd be great.

Maybe instead we should use the new copper material to make wires that can go up walls through a combination of copper and redstone there are already several posts on this, but I will still say what I think the basic functioning could be. Copper wires would be an item made from a combination of redstone and copper ingots. They would have the ability to stack up vertically as well as go horizontally. They will not directly connect to redstone allowing for them to be placed side by side with redstone without either effecting the other(similar to the slimeblock and honey block mechanics). If you do want to connect them you would use a new item known as a copper outlet. What this would do is allow you to convert a redstone signal into a copper signal and vice versa. Basically you would place redstone dust on one side, and copper wire on the other. Upon a signal traveling through one the copper outlet would also send it through the other.

With the idea of copper wires in mind however that still leaves some issues and possible need for contraptions that regular redstone already has. So, we would also likely need some other new items similar to a redstone repeater and comparitor only copper based.

This is an amazing idea. Yes, you can "solve with existing mechanics", but this will add a few things:

    1. Make redstone more approachable. Redstone towers going up and down are not easy for beginners to figure out, and redstone dust blocks would help with that.

    2. It would have more capabilities and flexibility. A redstone dust block might be pushable by a piston or used for something else. It's up to the player to decide.

    3. it would make redstone easier to hide. Whether it's for traps and secrets or just to look pretty without the wiring showing, redstone surreptitiousness is very important. the 2xNx1 is a bit bigger and can make things harder to hide. if you add redstone dust blocks, it will be smaller.
