Maybe parts of the cave are more underwater rather than just having a single mini waterfall. Sort of like the lava pools but with water instead. A simple change but can be effective.

Dynamite - smaller TNT blast and it takes 2 sand and 2 gunpower for 4 sticks

Light Helmet - Combine lantern with a helmet for a light helmet

Fog - just adding a little hint of gray near water because of moister

Slippery surfaces - Slips like ice but you stop faster

I think in addition to new Cave's there should be a scary Mob that ambushes players in the dark, giving people another reason to use torches, or maybe use different light source from the Never like Blue flames to prevent them from spawning.

A mob, something like a Vendigo or Goblins + HobGoblings (bigger and tanky ones)

In addition to that, maybe redesign MobSpawner to look like a cave settlement, think of Ants for that idea.

Or for the goblins, just a set of small cave-like rooms with bones around and a small chance for a double chest that has a small loot table (leather armor, iron ingot, gold nuggest, carrots and/or mushrooms) Goblin hideouts would have to be rare and fairly close to the surface, since i imagine they would go out to hunt and attack villages.

Maybe we could have some new crystals and ores that only show up on the surface of caves so we have to go caving instead of strip mining,

Caves in general are too common, too big and need better generation. I have a pet parrot and he wont stop imitating the mobs below him because I cant find that one single cave with all the monsters in it.

I think the best thing that could be done with caves should be a better generating system. I live out in the county and we have a little saying about random back roads, "looks like they followed a drunk cow when building this road!" That is my thought on current mineshafts, they just go all over the place with no logic aside from sometimes having a wooden bride over a ravine. Caves themselves should be random but they should also have a bit more logic to them. Caves generating in different ways in different areas would change where to build your base matter all the more. Maybe some areas could be more abundant with coal, iron, gold, lapis and Redstone with an area preferring to generate one resource over the others. This would make the place you decide to go mining in actually matter. As it is now, the only choices in how/where you mine are: go deep and strip mine for diamond/emerald, explore caves randomly or strip mine higher up for common materials and just quarry out a chunk for everything. If you found an area rich with iron you'd probably strip mine the heck out of that place and be set on iron for a while but you'd still need to explore other regions to accumulate other resources.

Certain mobs spawning in greater numbers depending on region would also make each area unique and go hand in hand with a good rebalance of mob spawns. Maybe there should be natural cave openings in the world, like a small, cobblestone mound that's opened up into the ground where bats like to be since they can also there during the day and come out at night.

Vast underground stone plains that you could find many underground mobs in. One Idea for a mob that could inhabit these stone plains and other underground biomes are Stone Golems/Constructs. You could find many different shapes and sizes of these mobs ranging from small, almost cow sized golems, to large golems the size of an Iron Golem. Maybe you could even fin the corpses of massive stone golems in the vast underground plains i mentioned earlier, maybe even adding one such massive stone golem as a mini boss similar to the elder guardian. You could also add the stone golems to mountains, and maybe a clay variant in the mesa biome. You maybe could even tame these golems by calming it down and putting a pumpkin or a jack o' lantern on its head.

Crystals would also be a neat addition, maybe whole crystal caves full of a ranging variety of colorful crystals. In addition to crystals you could also maybe add different tiers of crystal, each one can be turned into crystal dust, maybe the strongest of these crystals can be turned into a special dust that can be used to use magic similar to the magic used by evokers and illusioners.

Ghost miners are also very cool, maybe instead of making them always hostile, you could try making them more like the piglins by making them neutral in certain conditions and maybe they could also barter with the player in a similar fashion to the piglins. Another idea are larger dungeons with high risk and high reward. More undead enemies may be a good addition to the game, such as sword wielding skeleton knights. These undead enemies could inhabit the larger dungeons and maybe add a necromancer pillager mini boss to the end of each dungeon.

Crystals coming out of stone, making like an underground crystal biome. Also, maybe skeleton miners that use iron pickaxes as weapons. They can drop the pickaxe or the miner hat. The miners hat gives night vision, good for mining. Also new ores, meaning more gear and tools. Also finding Dino bones underground would be cool. (Maybe making something to make a dinosaur pet 😎 (INCUBATION)). Also an undead miner (a zombie with the same thing as the skeleton miner). Maybe some ancient trees, made with ancient wood and no leaves? Also adding the other ideas at the top is cool.

I want some dungeons in caves with puzzles and special prizes. Like in The Legend Of Zelda. Some bosses and special enemies.

There should be more ore's such as copper which can be used to make machines that allow you to crush an ore into 2 ore dust (lets say its iron for example) you crush iron ore into 2 iron dust then put it into another machine that smelts it into 2 iron ingots. Other ores such as tin, aluminium, titanium, silver and cobalt would also be a good addition.

Some gems should be seen in these caves like sapphire and ruby which can be used to make tools and armour, emeralds should also be used to make tools and armour, amethyst, jade and opal. Some of which can be used as a lighting source, armour and tools, or perhaps they are only use for decoration.

Caves in the nether should contain ore aswell like nether gold ore, which will agro nearby mobs such as pigmen or the newly added piglins. I also think, nether ferrous (which would require you to have four of to make an iron ingot) would be quite interesting. Nether coal and other nether ores, maybe some of which that I previously mentioned, or perhaps ore that can only be obtained in the nether would be a very good way to make you want to go into the nether

    Ideas:
    1. Steel
    - 3 coal + 1 Iron ingot
    - Is diamond tier but has iron durability
Used like normal iron for anvil, armor, and tools.

    2. Cave Dwellers
    - Spawn in underground mineshafts
    - Give them a banner
    - find others without banners and gives them one
    - Invites the dwellers to a group where they mine together
    - Beds = home
    - Chest = storage if near home (10 blocks)
    - 20 Hearts (40hp)
    - Lava resistant (take 50% less damage)
    - Chests with tools better than theirs they upgrade!

We absolutely need ores like copper and steel. Copper would be better than stone but not as good as iron. Steel would be better than iron but not as good as diamond. Copper may also be used as a block to carry redstone current through it, and through all other copper blocks that are touching it. This would give a conditional redstone block that travels through walls. Steel could be a block like obsidian, hard to break and doesn't blow up, but doesn't look crappy like obsidian does. Rare or hard to make, a little more common than diamond. Perhaps marble as a decorational block too.

I think new metals like copper and bronze for early in game armor/weapons. Mineshaft revamps, new hard and soft metals, gems, cave features, more or better looking stone variants, etc. Also narrow caverns with intercepting water pools.

Please add more depth, rather then 50 deep make it 175 blocks deep. Make Gold, Iron, diamond rarer and put more in-between ores. Also buff diamond and make rock harder to dig further down, you know, make endgame ore more endgame? Add like titanium, slightly better then Iron but insane durability. Ruby, between titanium and Iron but it can get enchantments perviously impossible, like efficiency VII? I always thought you could make a staircase down, stripmine and get endgame ore. It shouldn't be like that imo.

Also add some minibosses, underground biomes, replace bedrock with something destroyable. Have the void be like an abyss, with a rlly powerful ore, which is guarded by stronger monsters, only hurtabke with things with a certain enchantment.

Ps. You should look at some things in terraria, not copy, but look. They really got the cave thing perfect.

I'd love to see little bioms.
I have played terraria for 2 years and their cave system is fantasic. I  want such experience in minecraft too.

I'd love to see move open spaces, structures spawning in them. By structures I mean abandoned houses which have chest, crafting station and some decorations in them. Rare caves with one or two ores spawning all over it.

We need new unique stuff, diamons are now common material, found in the buried tressures or other structures. Caves must have something to offer, there is no reson to go to them if you already have some coal and iron.

Caves should have more details, new blocks that could light up walls.

New ores, bars, stuff to trade, armours, weopons maybe?

I could add more stuff but there is guy who mentioned it all: AquaBuzzardHR.

I think this is a great idea! Here are a few of my suggestions:
    - Villager Mineshafts. Basically mineshafts that don't look run down and are inhabited by villagers.

    - Mining helmets. Basically an object you wear in your helmet slot that provides light a small block distance away from you. As a downside, they could have it where mobs are attracted to the moving light. Crafted using a lantern.

I love the idea of cave minibiomes! I would love coming across some kind of ice-minibiome or a sandy minibiome, or something like those!

    My ideas:

    1. New ores like copper and tin which could add more variety and could be combined with iron to make steel and bronze which could be used for more weapons.

    2. I think that underground structures might be good because there could be outposts and varients of dunegons.

    3. Underground biomes like a mushroom biome(kind of like Terraria), a lava caves biome, an ice cave, and large open areas like a small nether.

    4. For the Nether, I still think biomes would be cool.

    5. Craters would be cool because it would be like a large cave opening.

Make certain cave pockets with ores, e.g. you could hit a shut in cave ( where you have to mine to it by searching or whatever )  full of ores or even add new "old" buildings underground to make cave exploring more exciting or just even add more detail to the cave so it's more pleasing to look at as the majority spend half of their minecraft time in these caves!

heres my idea (and i'm sure others have said this), what about ghost/ skeleton miners? zombie miners? when they die, sometimes they drop the same loot as the regular mobs (besides ghost, because that mob doesn't exist, but is close to the ghast), but may also drop a pick of some sort and/or a miner's helmet. the miner's helmet can be worn and will reduce damage of falling gravel and can give you a couple shank's time to get out of a lava pit. could be useful.

You should put more ore to make more armor and tools

I feel like they should add more ores of different colors. They will have unique mechanics. An example is ruby. It can be used to create decorative blocks and even for armor! :) Ruby armor would be one of the strongest kind of armor in the game. The armor would be red and you can swim in lava for 5 seconds if you have the full set. Another example is cobalt. It would work similarly to red stone but will have more power. These are my ideas for the cave update when it comes out. ;)

Ruby Armour, it's the same protection and damage as gold but stronger, this way diamonds are still the rarest and iconic
