A hot Biome that has Lava, Magma Block, and cooled lava block. These mountains would be the tallest of the game, with the lava level at Y150 and crater edge at Y200. This volcano will be huge and take up the entire Biome. The Volcano would erupt every so often on one side. It would have many lava falls. Villages exist on the side of the crater that is not on the eruption side. Snow also exists on the non eruption side. The eruption side has way more lava falls. The volcanic crater is open air like it has erupted before. The villager homes are made with cooled lava block(a solid, black block). MOJANG PLEASE USE THIS IDEA!!!!!!!!!!

You could stick volcanoes on groupings of tropical islands, near jungles maybe. Maybe could also be in mountainous biomes. They could be some sort link between the nether and the overworld, possibly releasing lava from like the nether, as long as other nether materials. They could be constructed mainly out of black terracotta. Of course, the structure could be a large mountain with a pool of lava near the top, or spilling over the edge creating streams of lava that fall from down to the base of the mountain. Obsidian could spawn pretty much anywhere on the mountain, especially nearby lava that has reached the bottom of the mountain. I think the use of magma would add be a good idea. Maybe it could be found at the top of the mountain primarily, but a little bit in the middle and lower regions would be nice as well. Going back to the nether link idea, you could use soul sand as ash, and incorporate netherrack as possibly what lines the inside of the volcano. Since the nether portal is made of obsidian and fire, this biome could easily be what gets you into the nether. Maybe you could stick diamond ore somewhere inside the volcano, but harvesting it would come with risk as you could easily be killed in the lava. As for basalt, I guess a new block would be cool. It would probably be re-colored endstone that is just black. Maybe stick some dead trees at the basin. You could incorporate villages made out of nether brick and quartz. Just a list of ideas. IDK.
If it were just for new building blocks, such as basalt or ash, I'd be inclined to agree with this idea, as it would give you a reason to find volcanoes (and it'd add to the diversity/variety in the world), but as it currently stands, I'm not a personal fan of of it being implemented in the intricate way you describe.
Instead of "cooled lava" which cobblestone already occupies, a black rock (basalt) can constitute a volcano. It adds a building block to the black color palette, which lacks availability and variety as it stands. Slabs, stairs, polished and chiseled variants could also be cool.
People have also been wanting new ores added to the game, and what element likes to build up around certain volcanoes? Sulfur. Sulfur could take the form of either an ore close to the surface, or as dirt or stone that has a build up of sulfur (these blocks could have a yellowish hue to them). Mining them gives you sulfur powder, which could be made into sulfur blocks. My idea is that sulfur blocks deter undead mobs from a certain radius around the block, similar to how garlic works in fantasy books and movies. These blocks could be placed around your base to keep the zombies, skeletons, or phantoms away. Another use could be to make gunpowder. In real life, sulfur is used to make it, so why not in Minecraft too? Sulfur powder could be crafted with charcoal or coal to make it. Sulfur could be brewed to make potions that deter undead mobs from you, or give you fire resistance. It could also be used as fuel for furnaces. Since in real life, sulfur gives off sulfur dioxide-a toxic gas, when burned, it could cause you to loose health or give you poisoning around a certain radius of the furnace. To make up for this, sulfur could be one of the best fuels in the game, like a bucket of lava. If sulfur is added to the game, it would only spawn in volcanic biomes (similar to how emeralds only spawn in extreme hills, however it would be about as abundant as iron or coal), which would give you a reason to seek out volcanoes.
I think there should be at least three different types of volcanoes. Extinct, dormant, and active. Extinct volcanoes are basically mountains that used to be volcanic. dormant volcanoes maybe look extinct on the outside but have a bunch of lava inside and lots of hot springs and geysers around it. active volcanoes should be open and have lots of lava similar as its described above.
I had this idea too before I actually started playing Minecraft.
I think each volcano biome should have one volcano in the middle (either active, dormant or extinct) and the area surrounding the volcano would be something like volcanic flat lands that have volcanic dirt that boost crop growth or something similar. Whereas villages and structures will generate around these areas.
Closer to the volcano, special mobs would spawn for example maybe Scorched Zombies that are immune to fire and does fire attacks.
For bigger volcanoes, there can be a lost temple at the side of the mountain where rare loot can be found inside. And a boss dragon that guards it.What if you're able to find hot springs somewhere close to the volcanoes. The water from the hot springs would be able to take on the status effect of any splash potion that is put into it- as if they were bath bombs- making a new, fun option for small bodies of water closer to player bases.
The water would be as rare as the volcanoes and if you pick up the water to move it regularly, you'll lose the effect. Instead, you'll have to dig down into the springs to look for an overworld type of magma block that you'll have to mine and place down before you place the water source on top of it. Hot springs will have to be managed by the player. The overworld magma blocks may have a timer on how long they are able to stay hot after being removed from their original biome. You'll need to recharge them every so often with fresh lava. This could possibly be done by simply removing the rocks from the springs and pouring lava over them to reheat the blocks. While throwing a splash potion into the pool may increase the number of people the water could effect at once, the same times should be applied to the water for the potions in order to make the springs not too powerful.
Water purity would also be a factor. Any introduction of non-hot spring water would contaminate the hot-spring, turning the hot-spring water (which I imagine as a pretty turquoise color or maybe something more white) into regular water. Players would have to be careful about runoff into their springs.I think the volcanic biome should not have an erupting volcano but rather many shorter mountains with lava pools on top where parts of it fall along the mountain. The ground would would consist of magma blocks, obsidian, stone( perhaps a heated form of stone that is red), and cobblestone. The caves in this biome would have magmablocks and lava every where but diamonds are more common in this biome, giving the player a challenge. Perhaps you could add geysers which shoots out steam. It will boost players up but kill them if they don't have fire resistance.
I relly want this but some volcano's can be cold and come with new blocks called ash or even a gass block witch will cause damage to the player if breathed and if thares going to be a volcano I'd like to see a gas volcano and an ash volcano because when erupted the gas volcano will cause damage and the ash block when released from the volcano will quite literally rain down causing blindness the reson why I wold make the ash volcano and the gas volcano because if u look at images of volcano's in places like the cascade range youl see some absolutely beautiful volcano's like the 3 sisters volcano or st hellins or mt Fuji and those are absolutely beautiful volcanoes
Volcanos would be amazing they could erupt randomly and destroy your house if you live under it but when the lava cools it could produce ores a new type of material and it could give a buff to the land around it which increases growth rate and amount of food you get from growing plants the possibilitys are endless with volcanos you could even have randomly genarated volcanic castles a new type of hostile mob like lava imps lava golems scorched zombies liked the drowned but instead of when zombies go underwater they turn into drowns if a zombie dies in a volcano it could have a chance to turn into a volcanic zombie
Eruptions would be too difficult to implement in a smart way. I'd rather seeing a static vulcanic area with craters with lava and magma inside and geysers all around the place. Maybe a peculiar blackish rock would fit the role for this biome.
