Rice

Rice is the most widely consumed staple food (especially in Asia), it should be in Minecraft too. Rice seeds can be obtained similarly to obtaining wheat seeds, by destroying grass. But you can only find it in some biomes (for example tropical biome).

You have to plant the rice seeds in water (one block height) and a fully grown rice plant is two blocks high (so it is visible above the water). You can then harvest it and transform the rice into different meals:

  • Rice + bowl = Bowl of rice
  • Rice + dried kelp + fish = Maki sushi
  • Rice + bowl + chicken + carrot = Fried rice
  • Rice + Sugar = Mochi (rice cake)

Maybe you could make a bag of rice with nine “pieces” of it.

    I for one love this idea, I feel like there is too many meat varieties and not enough flora based foods, because rice has a wide variety of uses in real life, why not in Minecraft? I mean... it's a simulation of the real world in a sense...right? rice could provide a different addition to the food side of things and...idk if it urks anybody else but we make paper from sugar...but with rice we can make rice paper! And like add rice to a bowl for a bowl of rice...pop it in a furnace and get fried rice! mix it with fish and get sushi.. mix with sugar and rice cakes are made..i love this idea...

    I'd absolutely love this, I'm all for more types of crops but I've been saying I've wanted a rice crop for ages.

    I really enjoy your idea, especially because I eat rice Everyday. I think you should also add that it should be more filling than bread, to make it more advantageous to farm. You could also change the names to be more generally Asian than only Japanese, just so more people understand it. you could even add a rice pot to cook!

    I think none of those foods should exist expect bowl of rice, It'd be pointless. Rice seed, Rice and Bowl Of Rice, those are the only ones that need to exist.

    Maybe you can find rice in Rice terraces village that generates at mountain biomes.

    I get the idea but we already have 24 consumables (besides potions) so I think we have enough. Also corn is also a huge apart of the world's diet so they would have to put that in too.

    The problem is that rice will be like all the other food, we will just forget it. Seriously, do you use beetroods in Minecraft? And potatoes, sweet berrys, ...

    I think that rice should be added in because after you make all the possible food farms in the game, the food gets boring and rice is a great idea and also this goes with the mochi ice cream comments that you should straight up add ice cream. (:

    This is a cool concept that I give my support for because Minecraft needs more food items. There’s always that one world you have that you are constantly starving in, and this is another great food idea.

    I like the idea of more diverse plants, I think it wood go well with bamboo and you could make a lot more Asian looking cities. Perhaps to make the rice half submerged easier you could make it two separate blocks, with the one that bears food would naturally appear on top, just an idea so correct me if implausible.

    That is a great idea, that would give us another plant, and another use for bowls. I don't use bowls much, but for rice I would!

    @MacchuPicchu96 There is always an incentive for food items. It's what you have available. The incentive for eating apples is that you don't have steak. Just eat rice if you've got it until you can make better food. Perfectly fine to me.

    Love the idea! I’m a HUUGGEE advocate for updating Minecraft’s food/cooking system. So love that someone else is trying for an update to the food/cooking system as well! Keep up the good work!

    Frankly, if rice was in minecraft. Then it is a quirky food item which is great. But, it would possibly be an underrated food item due to the amount of food in minecraft. Now, it doesn’t mean I dislike it, infact I like it cuz it is a new concept in minecraft if u know what I am saying ofc.
