You know when I clicked on the biomes section do feedback this is EXACTLY what I had in mind, a desert revamp. I recently spent some time in the Mojave desert and I recently discovered the minecraft desert is nowhere near as accurate as a real desert. I think a few things should be added:

    • Cactus variations (prickly pear cactus, barrel cactus, etc)
    • Peickly pear fruit derived from the prickly pear cactus. Fruit will grow atop the cactus and can be picked when ripe, goes through the 3 stages of growing like a coco pod.
    • Desert animals! Like geckos (extremely common in the desert) which could be tamed, snakes, coyote, desert birds (woodpecker, humming bird, etc.)
    • New shrub variations
•Small desert plants like grasses and succulents, aloe is common
    • The prickly pear fruit can be made into other foods like prickly pear pie, also adding to the food types (also in dire need of a revamp)
    • Maybe to enhance the heat and stuff of the desert, hunger can go down a bit faster? The need to drink water in minecraft would be cool. We can drink water out of the water bottles we already currently have. I also think rather than drinking milk out of the buckets to cure poison and clear status effects we should be able to empty the bucket into a cauldron and fill 3 bottles, or instead of just into the cauldron maybe as a crafting recipe
    • Aloe Vera gel, crafted using 2 aloe Vera leaves (obtained by destroying an aloe Vera plant). Used in potion making to create potion of quenching (makes it so that you don’t get hungry or thirsty as fast, particularly in the desert)

Let’s make minecraft survival even more awesome!

I think you're thinking of Palm trees, and making the rare occurrence of an oasis.

Um, in real life, deserts aren't helpful at all.  If Minecraft is trying to match reality, deserts should be barren.

Bilbo Baggins, the deserts you're thinking of are likely the Sahara and Atacama deserts. Most other deserts have far more life than what one sees in Minecraft, far from the barren wasteland stereotype.

And while we're adding more life to the deserts, how about Joshua Trees?

Um, the deserts Mojang is probably basing their deserts off of are the Sahara and Atcama deserts.

Joshua trees are a nickname for baobabs.

Maybe this would be a place to find the new snapshot's Pillagers (and the Illager Beast) camping out and preparing to attack the next village!

Yeah, bandits could just be a new variant of pillager!

No ,, Joshua tree is not a nickname for baobabs! They are in fact a type of yucca plant in the desert.

That aside, I like this idea a lot. I think it’d be nice if the add camels as well!

    Camels and cacti variations? YES.

Perhaps there’s could be a type of larger cacti, perhaps like a Joshua tree, structured similarity ro a Chorus tree but much smaller, maybe 7 blocks high max.

I do think deserts could be done a little better, even just by adding variations to the plant life. Maybe instead of just dead saplings there could be dead grasses, some more kinds of cacti, the occasional oasis... Maybe a new structure, desert ruins, perhaps like the desert temple but all collapsed and such.

Also, what’s up with all the rivers in deserts? That’s not very desert-y. That leads me to another idea: Dried Streambeds! As well as Dried Lakebeds, perhaps with a new block called “dried clay” or something.

I think in general Minecraft biome seems could use a lot more variety, I realize this is hard for the team but so much more couldn’t be done for the the adventuring aspect. Would help you compete with Hytale too lol

Just what I was thinking. They could add saguaros, camps, even some kind of villager cowboy that rides around on a horse and defends villages from raids. We should be able to burn thorns off of cacti to let cattle graze on them so that they go into love mode. Gilla monsters could be added to scare the player away. Cool rock formations rather than only having canyons. Bald eagles even could eat fish and just make the badlands look better. Saloon doors maybe(you just walk through them). Make really cool badlands villages with stables. Make sifting pans so we can get gold easier. Split deserts into 2 or 3 different biomes.(one being the barren desert only bordering savannahs, with no plants, the cacti desert only bordering badlands, full of cacti and grass, and the third being the outback desert full of trees and shrubs) The possibilities are endless. Mojang please do this. It will make the deserts a million times better. And "a million times better " is not an exaggeration

I agree with the idea of having bandit camps in the desert, because it would more challenge to it at night, and even during the day, also it would promote more exploration rather than just going there to get sand and cactus.I think if bandit camps were to be added, they should come in different sizes, like for example a small one consisting of a few building with a couple of chests in it,and then there is the big one,in there is gonna be more mobs to fight(bandits),that would eventually drop more loot(existing one or something new),and you would be able to find even more chests in it.I think that there must be bandits riding horses around the desert or near the camp to indicate that you are coming closer to a bandit camp, and unless you attack them or get near their camp, they would not attack you.
