Ok hear me out instead of making it a graphical design how about giving the dragon a stamina bar that would deplete when you start flying making players be a little more cautious on when they fly and to fix the elemental power problem give the dragons hunger
but do not put a giant hunger bar on the screen that reduces player vision instead have particles emit from the dragon when its hungry and a message popp up on the screen telling you the beast's belly is empty or full but to fill it you have to give them food (ofcourse) but depending on the food the dragon will become more full and there should be a special food exclusive to dragons that is called something like dragon crystals idk which should be made from crystals found in caves making them more useful and idk something like you have to enchant the crystals or something and these dragon crystals wouldn't just auto fill the dragon more so they fill the dragon the most.  But I dont think they should be so annoying and time consuming to make. (These are just my thoughts on how I would make dragons not OP and keep them a mid to high class mob while still keeping them the best pet in the game I would have said more but this is only a comment but I do thinks someone should speak on how rare they are. )

It would be cool if you could ride on the dragon and have a chest on the back to store stuff in.

Fire dragons have to breath fire right but what if it just made a bunch of exploding fire balls. ice dragons would make ice that melted fast. water dragons they work under water they make a huge bubble column that does damage and knocks you away or it can suck you in. Earth dragons would do severe damage and knockback. That is every thing fixed.

I think that pet dragons in Minecraft would be cool, but a better idea for a mod. If they are added, I think it should be really hard to acquire one.

I do not believe this would match the Minecraft game style and fit into it. I mean a pet dragon, there’d be SO MANY bugs, cheats, hacks and other things that would destroy servers. It would be really hyped but problems won’t work and if it is op everyone would want it removed for being unfair or if the debuff it then everyone will forget about it like dogs already in the game. There’d also be so much prep of test playing and trying to fit it in the game

I think maybe a little bit smaller than an ender dragon and more rare than that maybe they spawn in dragon temples which are super rare because having a pet dragon would be really OP

I think this would be cool, but I think it is a little overpowered.   There also the chance of accidentally destroying your house, farms, paths, nearby villages, and everything else in your world.  Maybe make it so that it can only be spawned in creative like a zombie horse, or just make it so that the breath attack does not destroy blocks.

or maybe the ender dragon egg could hatch allowing for use to maybe take to new hights like a sky dimesion or some kinda magical land?

maybe even be able to fly along side the dragon with the elytra

yea it would be great to build a kind of breading block out of rare items. after a few days the dragon will come out of the egg and is very small at first. you need to feed the dragon a lot and it grows slowly but unlike other mobs it has multiple sizes and isnt instantly fully grown. at a medium size its able to let you ride and glide like an elytra. when its nearly fully grown able to actually fly. It could carry many chests. Endermans would be nice to you if youre next to your dargon

Maybe there should be like a raid dragon. Like some sort of brute that resembles a Ravenger and will only come if you have very high bad omen. This dragon could act as a final wave boss. I think this great beast would really upgrade raids and would really make raids more exiting!

I think that you should be able to hatch the ender dragon egg, then tame it by feeding it a new rare drop from shulkers; shulker meat. It would be wolf-sized and look like a baby ender dragon. Once tamed it would fly around you like a wolf. If you have two attacks. One would be similar to wolves, where it would fly up and attack the mob. The second one would be where it would shoot the dragon fireball particles, giving the mob in question the either effect. However, doing this would damage the dragon by one heart (it would have 10 hearts). It would then wait until back up to full health (done by being fed meat) before doing the second attack again.

I think it should be like a tiny dragon that you tame when you kill the ender dragon or If you could hatch the dragon egg you tame it.

It would give some use to the Ender Dragon egg, and it could be another challenge for the player to take care of it and watch it grow up, but it would be VERY late game. I do feel like riding on the back of a dragon could be a great way to travel around your world and explore.

If added they should also be rideable

I mean....seems to op..... and would make elytra almost useless... and too mody.... and the egg is just a trophy.

I think there should only be one Type of dragon sized about as big as the raveger you hatch it through the Dragon Egg by placing it in top of a beacon and incerting a totem of undieing. To tame it an ride ist you need to wear the dragonhead from an endcity and Feed it some speacial meat dropped found in an ocean Monument.

There is only one dragon egg, what happens to a server when you can hatch dragon egg? Only one player gets it, which is unfair, and does it die? If it dies, it means you just lost a dragon egg. It would be more realistic to obtain something that can spawn the dragon in a new structure in the end instead.

It would be super cool if you could actually hatch the dragon egg you get by defeating the dragon. The egg to me seems kinda boring, like its a cool trophy but it would be even cooler if you could hatch it and have a dragon of your own (Size being up to the creators).

Cool idea! But you have to balance it out so not just anyone can have a dragon. Maybe you could add something like you have to defeat the momma dragon before getting the egg. If you kill the mom and get the egg would you get dragon scales which then can be crafted to dragon scale armor. Maybe dragon meat. Fire dragons could spawn in the nether. Dragon parents could be like bosses. I also think that you can only tame baby dragons. Also there should be different ways to make them hatch faster like water and ice dragons could be placed in water and fire dragon eggs could be placed surrounded by fire to speed up the process! I would LOVE to see dragons in the next update, but they do need a bit more to them.

Personally I think this is a great idea, however having a pet dragon could disrupt the game's difficulty and progression if done incorrectly, so here are some of my ideas in order to combat this:

-A tamed dragon should go through multiple 'stages' of growth, each requiring a special item at the end of each stage in order for the dragon to move on to the next (the items will be described later in the post). Each stage of growth will introduce more health and more abilities. This will also allow the owner to keep the tamed dragon in a desirable stage if they choose to do so.

-The items that are needed for the dragon to progress into the next growth stage are called "Essence", and are fed to the dragon when it is at the end of it's current growth-stage. There are three types of "Essence", each associated with a different growth stage and are dropped by defeating a boss (the first tier is dropped by an elder guardian, the second is dropped by a wither, and the third is dropped by the ender dragon). The essence should then be brewed into Thick potion (giving it an actual use) and the result would be a type of Essence Extract, and that could be then given to the dragon. Because of this, the dragon's strength and overall power is determined by how far the player is in the game, and this let a more early game player possibly have access to a dragon, but they won't be able to unlock the dragon's full potential until they 'finish' the game.
