I think it would be really cool that backpacks would give u like 2-3 columns of extra inventory space. When its removed from the player's back (make a new player slot for backpacks like with shields) it keeps all the items but other then the shulker box its accessible in the inventory and cant be placed down + I think it would be really cool if the backpack is upgradeable/costumizable like u can put attach a workbench on it, which makes it a portable workbench and storage space, and u can put a jukebox on it, which makes it like a boombox/headphones for when ur out adventuring. Then lastly make it so that u can color your backpack! The backpack should be created with leather, iron and a chest, to dye it put the backpack with ur choice of dye in the crafting bench, same goes for upgrading, u want the workbench or jukebox, put it together in a workbench with the backpack. This would be a really cool addition and a gamechanger.

That's a great idea But they better make it a lot more easier than the nether chests and the new thing whatever it's called in the end city.

I say ok, but only one 1x9 row of items.require a diamond for the buckle since it has to carry a lot of heavy things, and it takes up your chestplate space, so you can wear a chestplate and the backpack, similar to the elytra.

Also Shulker boxes are late game items, it would be great to have something in early game to expamd your inventory and also not have to place it down every time you open it.

    Awesome idea!

I think that in order to make them different from shulker blocks, you should be able to wear them on your back, and have a limited storage. You can only have one bag in your inventory at a given time, and you can’t put bags inside bags. That way you will have to go to the end and get shulkers.

Backpacks should be a wearable early game variant of the shulker boxes. It should have less slots so it won't outshine the shulker boxes.

I think the inventory space of a player currently is far to large. Perhaps reducing the player inventory space, thereby making a backpack "more useful" but not making shulker boxes any less so.

Make the backpack limited like the saddle bags on a donkey, only having maybe half an inventory worth of space. Also make it an equipable item like the offhand for the shield or torches, except it would have its own slot of course. This way a player can only use one backpack.

what if there was a backpack slot above the shield slot...where you could place things like a quiver to store your arrows, or elytra wings, freeing up your chestplate slot for your diamond armor

or a backpack that gives you some extra inventory space

well we need a backpack as an expansion to normal inventory like double size or less

i think this would be a great idea! i think you should have a slot next to wear you would put the shield, and then you can wear you backpack !!! i also think this should consist of: string, leather, and ONE gold because gold is kinda useless and a backpack would be something VERY helpful !!!!

I'm only imagining the safest way of introducing this into the game would be to mix leather with the shulker box to create the backpack which must be worn instead of a chest plate but can either increase the slots in the inventory directly or add a new button in the inventory next to the recipe button that shows you your backpack storage slots.

This way there is a trade-off for having more inventory space, removing your chest plate and still having to have a shulkerbox for the item.

the way it could work is making the craft recipe 8 lether and a chest in the middle, it would give between 10 and 20 slots, would be nice since the sulker boxs are an end game thing

Yea i understand about shulker boxes but u have to go and kill ender but wouldn't it make more sence to like make the leather worker make it and you can buy it from him so that would make it not so simple to make andit would be a beginner item not a i finally killed ender now i get a shulker box, also it shouldn't have too many open slot so that it would not make it overpowered as described earlier.

It could be worn on the chestplate slot to differentiate it from the skillet box. And depending on what is in it it could give you different levels of slowness.

It's a good idea in my opinion. Shulkerboxes are only to get in the end game though and you have to travel the end. As in early game, it is currently not possible to archive more inventory space. Bagpacks would solve the problem! I would think of Wool, Leither and Wood for a crafting recipe, or something like that.

Shulker boxes are a great way to store items and act like a backpack, but it a late game item because you need to kill the endear dragon to access it but the backpack could be a early game. The storage would have to be smaller than a shulker box because it would be OP as a early game item you would get by storage means I was thinking the space of a donkey with a chest attached to it would be a perfect size.

It should be made of leather and chest or shulker box.

I think we should make backpacks that you can wear behind your back, and you can even put stuff in there to carry around.

A backpack should only have 6 slots max, only be usable in the chest plate slot

I think if backpacks were to be incorporated into the game it would take the chestplate slot up in the armor that you wear and it would directly expand the player's inventory, but the first one you craft would be 8 leather around a tripwire and will only add per say 5 slots and then you craft it with 8 more leather and you get 9 extra slots added to the inventory instead of 5, and the final form of it would be crafted together with a shulker box and it would add 36 extra slots to the inventory and you can only ever hold one backpack at a time

Would be great if made with 3 leather on top, surrounding a chest, 2 string east/west of the chest, and one bucket one bucket on bottom. If the Backpack is attached to a tripwire hook players could empty the filled bucket texture carefully(integrated into the backpack) into another empty bucket, or empty bottles

I would not mind to have the option of having an early game backpack option. I know we have the shulker boxes but you tend to get those when you visit the end. I think having a backpack would be helpful especially when you are doing a lot of branch mining during the early game for all of the rare ores ;).

frankly, if they will add backpacks then it will be quite an ambitious feature. We do have Shulker boxes. But, the backpacks could act differently than what I’ve mentioned about shulker boxes.

First off, backpack will use chest slot and can store a minimum amount of slots, like 5 for example. The cost. Well, worry about it later.

anyways. If ur backpack has stuff in it and unequip it, then all stuff will basically just falls on the ground...

    and yeah, that is it...

Commenting on MaccuPiccu96, the backpack most likely wouldn't add too much more inventory space, maybe 12 at most.

For the people that talk about shulker boxes taking this spot it would be more efficent being able to have backpacks as a chest item as you dont have to beat the game to do this it will be easier to craft early on if you ever need to carry things
