Would be great if made with 3 leather on top, surrounding a chest, 2 string east/west of the chest, and one bucket one bucket on bottom. If the Backpack is attached to a tripwire hook players could empty the filled bucket texture carefully(integrated into the backpack) into another empty bucket, or empty bottles

I would not mind to have the option of having an early game backpack option. I know we have the shulker boxes but you tend to get those when you visit the end. I think having a backpack would be helpful especially when you are doing a lot of branch mining during the early game for all of the rare ores ;).

frankly, if they will add backpacks then it will be quite an ambitious feature. We do have Shulker boxes. But, the backpacks could act differently than what I’ve mentioned about shulker boxes.

First off, backpack will use chest slot and can store a minimum amount of slots, like 5 for example. The cost. Well, worry about it later.

anyways. If ur backpack has stuff in it and unequip it, then all stuff will basically just falls on the ground...

    and yeah, that is it...

I think backpacks are a great idea! But it will need to be balanced. You put the backpack in the backpack slot, next to the offhand slot. The backpack should give you an extra 9 inventory slots. You can have multiple different backpacks in different colors. Once you take your backpack off you lose your slots but your stuff stays in the backpack. You can put shulker boxes in backpacks, but you can’t put backpacks in backpacks. I think that’s a balanced way to have backpacks without making it over powered.

There’s no need for book bags, we have ender chests and shulker boxes already, it’d just be a reskin

A backpack is a perfect item because the shulker box is onli avaliable if you go to the end,so in that point dont need an extra space on your inventory...i know,í can get ir in creative, but,i wanna trophies :)

The backpack would fit in the chest space for armor, like the Elytra. You'll be unprotected and vulnerable while using it, and you can hold it in a hook/stand, check it from there and select a pack of tools before traveling.

I feel that the shulkers fulfill the need for portable inventory, however I think that if backpacks we added, they would act as an expansion of the instant access inventory...

I think the backpack can appear as a decoration in the players back.

I think the backpacks should probably be made out of leather and a chest. And you should be able to access them through your inventory without having to place them. And you should be able to dye them like how you do leather armour.

    Agree with SpecialisToL:

-9 more inventory slots at the cost of the chestplate armor

Backpacks can be implemented without making shulker boxes useless, they should be equipped in the chestplate slot, just like the elytra, that means they force the player not to wear a chestplate.
But more importantly, if the item itself just doubles your inventory when equipped, (like a double chest) then you'll only be able to use one backpack at a time, he backpack-item itself shiuldn't store the items, this does mean that when your double inventory were full, and you were to take yoir backpack off, it would drop half the items your carrying (like when you brake one half of a double chest).
This would be perfectly balanced, and should not be craftable in my opinion, because it would always be the first thing a player will use their leather for.
I think it would work best if these backpacks were found in dungeon-chests, like saddles.

Backpacks are a good Idea but they should only have as many item slots as a hopper so there is still a point to shulker boxes

Backpacks are way too necessary since the inventory gets filled to fast.

Backpack should be in the chest armor slot, so you trade protection for more inventory space.

Furthermore, if you drop the backpack, all the items inside would drop as well, because otherwise you could just fill backpacks and put them into your inventory, like shulker boxes.

Backpacks should be simpler to make them shulker boxes however they only add the protection of leather armor and you can only have one on you at any point in time to make sure not to OP.

Backpacks are super easy to implement in a Datapack!

Only 1 Minecraft command would have to be added to the game.
WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO OPEN CHESTS!

Currently, if you want to let a Player open a Chest per Datapack, you would have to spawn a minecart in front of him.

A better way would be to make a /chest command to open chest spaces like:

    "/chest wooden_chest {nbt.....}
    or
    /chest hopper {nbt...}
    or
    /chest shulker_box {nbt...(Colour?)}"

With this command the Map Maker could create a Backpack, GUIs and Menus!

Even though there are shulker boxes, they can be fairly difficult to obtain. A backpack would be an easier item to obtain. It could probably be made using leather, which isn’t too hard to get. And this would also classify as a wearable item, so it would be very different from a shulker box.

Backpacks could be like smaller shulker boxes, you can make them from leather and iron or some other early material

It should work like a shulker box in the way that it keeps all its contents when its not being worn, but when it is worn it increases the inventory size.

I would like a backpack that you could just click in your inventory instead of having to place it down then break it to put it in your inventory

Crafted with a barrel/ chest in the middle slot, 5 pieces of leather (one in each free slot beside and the three slots below the chest/barrel) and two pieces of string in the top corners, looking like the recipe to make a chest plate.

This would be worn in the chest piece armor slot at the cost of half the armor points less than a leather Chest plate would give. This would give the player one extra full line of storage on the bottom/top of their inventory for early game use, as well as help professional/hardcore builders maintain their inventory when making massive, detailed builds. Or even everyday gamers out on an adventure, trying to discover new lands or tunnel deeper into mines. Nothing is more annoying than having to turn back in the middle of an adventure because of a full inventory, or worse, having to decide whether one or more items should be sacrificed to despawn.

The slots given by the "Backpack" would only be available when worn, letting Players decide for themselves what is more important, Extra Storage, Full Armor, or the ability of Flight.

As a possibility, i'd also like to offer an upgraded pack, by surrounding the "Backpack" item with 8 additional Leather, an additional 8 slots will appear on the sides of the 4 rows of inventory space, or simply give another row on the top/bottom.

Side note: This item does not effect the players hotbar in any way, it simply provides more storage only when worn, so crafting multiple would have no effect other than having spares. I would also like the option to customize the color using the same principle to die leather armor.

How is this not in the game?

I like the idea of a backpack in early game but with a smaller inventory space. Maybe 10 extra spaces. And it would be accessible from your normal inventory menu rather than separate like a chest.

Basically expand your regular inventory by a small amount. Perhaps different size backpacks depending on material. Maybe end game backpacks that require items from the end to double your regular inventory space. Leather backpacks could be 5 extra spaces.

Donkeys, who already can equip chests, fulfill the ability to carry more on adventures. The rarity of a shulker box is perfect, as you usually kill the ender dragon before progressing to building and exploring. It's not useful to add something that could ruin the use of a shulker, and even more, break the game. This could allow people to store EVEN more shulkers in their bags and make the use of chests even worse.

Why I think that backpacks should be in the game is because there’s not a way to “expand” your inventory until after you defeat the ender dragon. It wouldn’t have to be op because they could make it like elytra in that you can’t where it with a chest plate. They could also make it to where you can only put items in the backpack when it’s on your back, meaning, when it’s in your inventory you can’t hold items inside of it. I think that for the most part, there’s always a way to make things not overpowered.

backpack: a new equipment slot(like armor) which adds a limited amount of space to the standard inventory screen. simple. no crosscutting shulker boxes.

Maybe if the backpack was crafted with 4 iron in the corners 4 leather and a chest in the middle that way it costs something and you could make it to where it holds 3-5 items no backpacks inside of backpacks and figure out a way to were you can only use one maybe have a backpack hot key that only opens the first backpack that comes in your inventory in till you empty it or put it in a chest or something
