Adding my thoughts to the discussion.

I'm personally against backpacks. We have an endgame way to carry more items: Enderchests and Shulkerboxes.

Many argue there should be a way to carry more items earlier in the game, which would be less versatile. But adding an easily obtainable backpack sounds like making the inventory bigger, but with extra steps.

I like the concept of treating a backpack as a “replacement” for a chest plate/elytra, where it could store half as much or as much as a single chest, but the tradeoff is that you would have to equip it in the place of a chest plate or elytra

Sorry but this is just recreating what we already have in ender cheats and shulker boxes.

Back packs should be small and only store some items. Please make the backpack look like one from the olden days please.

All though I use shulker boxs a hole lot in survival it is an END GAME ITEM so I argee I'm thinking either just increases invintory or its a block like item so when when wearing press a button and then a little invintory pops up and when you press blank (or maybe the same button) and as it fades away it makes a zipper sound and is made of putting leather in a v shape (in a crafting table)

I think backback are a great idea annd you could say that we have shulker boxes but they are very late game, and you can make the invatory space of a backback smaller kind of like a donkey or you could make it replace the chestplate so people have to pick more invatory space or more armor, i thinnk this would be a good idea because by the time epople get elytras they have shulker boxes and have no need for backpakcs.

A backpack should hold 5 slots. When your inventory is filled, all the items you find will start going in the backpack. At the top right corner of your screen would be a "0/5" each slot filled will add up on the fraction. The backpack would take up your chestplate slot, and if you have 2+ you start gaining slowness (after 1 backpack, each backpack would add a slowness level). This would keep from shulker boxes becoming useless. Also backpacks cant be filled with more backpacks. To open your backpack you would have to take it off and set it on the ground. Backpacks cannot hold full stacks in each slot, only 16 per slot. Backpacks would also have durability. So if something hits you on the chest hitbox your backpack would lose durability (No. Backpacks will not add armor bars) after the backpack breaks it would leak all the items in it and you would get a notice at the top right with a "!!!". Backpacks cannot be bounced of slime.

Shulker boxes fulfill the need for bakcbacks but they take a very long time into the game to get. I think backpacks should be added and crafted just out of leather and maybe an iron ingot. They should have no more than an extra hotbar worth of space otherwise theyd be too op.

Maybe we could wear the backpacks and not have it replace the chest plate. Also I think that there should be some bigger backpacks that are harder to make and I would love if there were different colors of backpacks. Maybe we could also place the backpacks?

Shulkers are literally a pack back if you have the need for more storage put a shulker in a shulker in a shulker in a shulker in a shulker okay you get the idea a backpack update would be useless and mojang if you perhaps see this i had lost all traces of my minecraft account existing i was hoping you could give me my account back so i can see if my progress on hypixel was lost edit: it wasn’t on this account I literally cannot log into the site with my account it’s user name which I’m not going to say so people don’t steal it and the user name on top is a diversion but could ya help me out here

Backpacks should be like an early-game pseudo-shulker box. Only 6 rows of storage, and must replace the chest plate to be opened.

I honestly feel backpacks are just replicating an ender chest.

The backpack is a neat idea because we can have more space for our inventory.

Good idea, but definitely needs to be improved.

1: Backpacks have to be worn on your chest slot so that you have to give up some armor or your elytra.

2: Backpacks can only hold up to maybe 6 items and these slots should appear on the side of your inventory as for easy access and to not replace shulker boxes.

3: Backpacks can hold anything to heavy, they are just leather sacks designed for carrying small items ya know! “Heavy” items may include gold, iron, or netherite.

If the backpack was added, these things should be added along with it to help keep them from replacing shulker boxes since they would likely be a very early game item. I hope this helps!

You can use llamas, donkeys or shulkers boxes to carry all your stuff. We don't need backpacks.

I really like this idea. But, I do see the potential dislike as there are shulker boxes. I think that they should give the same inventory as a saddle bag on a Llama. 3 to 9 depending on the crafting recipe. I also think that only one should be able to be crafted. Or that the inventory is only usable while the bag is in the off hand or equipped to the chest plate slot.

I think backpacks are a great idea considering shulker boxes are harder to get, especially in survival, backpacks could be crafted out of 8 leather, with a chest in the middle as mentioned in another comment, and can be worn like elytra, where a chest plate would go. They add inventory slots, allowing you to carry more stuff with you, would be useful for mining. I would like to see this on both bedrock and Java. Have a good day 😊🎒

I think the idea of backpacks is very bad. If it is obtained quickly, the idea gets even worse, as it would unbalance the game's ecosystem (which is good, but fragile). But there is a way to resolve this.

The player, in the game, always starts with 36 empty slots in the inventory, which can be occupied with blocks, weapons and many other things. But what if he started with just nine slots?

thus, he would need to build something (backpack) to have the 36 slots in the inventory!

So, Backpacks really could only work if there was an additional inventory slot, otherwise you'd take up the chest slot for extra space. Of course with that extra inventory slot, it would mean you would have players wearing a chest piece and a pair of elytra since the elytra would be in the same slot as the backpack

Back pack conditions: As soon as the end dragon is slain backpack (uncraftable) shall disappear forever and never be acquired again (doesn't matter where the backpack is).

The backpack will be gifted by the villager/wandering villager when traded for the 1st time and ONLY once.

Backpack should be worn like Elytra. And can carry a Kitten/Puppy in it which will deter Creepers/Skeletons.

To ALL the Shulker box fans I know you are the Godly Pros who directly jump to the END but back packs would be a great help in the BEGINNING of the game.

9ne benefit of this is for it to enable infinite items or blocks in your inventory to be stacked.

I think having a slot to add a backpack on your back should be a feature and it adds to the adventure aspect of Minecraft. Maybe even adding a specific villager type to trade with to upgrade like a crafting table backpack, ender chest backpack, or an upgraded one that saves your backpack inventory when you die? Hope to see this added!!

Nice idea, but don't you think the addition of Shulker Boxes already took that spot?

Having a backpack could be a very good idea.

The crafting recipe could be a chest in four leather, or completely surrounded.

It can only hold 8 items as a backpack can’t realistically carry a massive amount of stuff without ripping. You can dye the bag so it has a special color. You could also maybe put a pattern on it. The item can be loaded from the inventory but you can also set it down. It could look a bit like a trunk suitcase while on the ground or something.

Also what if the backpack can only hold certain kinds of items, like you would need to add ice to it to hold food, a bit like a cooler. Just a random idea that could help make it less op.

I think that backpacks are a great idea however I would like to see them being accessible without placing them and they would have to be an early game item possibly crafted with leather and string

I also think that backpacks would be a good idea because you realy need the extra storage early game because it would be helpfull for mining and for tools

here are some of my ideas and please add this to bedrock too

backpack : 8 leather in chest formation

adventure backpack : bed in center furnace on top crafting table on bottom leather on the sides small inventory

can be slept on can be used for crafting and smelting and small inventory

end game backpack bucket on each side adventure backpack on bottom skulker box in center leather everywhere else

large inventory liquid storage all adventure backpack featueres

simaler to travelers backpack mod       please add to bedrock

Yes backpacks,it would be made of leather, give 9 to 18 slots (It needs space but not too much)and take up your chest plate spot in your inventory. It will be useful because it would replace the shulker box in early game but hold less as the shulker box has the same space as a chest and will be a reward for going far and killing a shulker. The backpack on the other hand is a starting shulker box that holds less and takes away your chest plate slot it will be fair and equal. Unless someone uses the backpack to hold the shulker box then its little over powered but I strongly agree with the idea with a backpack.

This backpack would be made of leather and mud and would have a shape similar to a flat chest.

    Benefits:

    > The player would have 20 more empty spaces to fill.
    > The transfer between houses will be faster.

    Disadvantages:

    > The player loses points from the food bar 5 times faster, as he will have more weight on his back.
    > If the food bar has only 7 "shank" (or 14 points) of food bar, he will no longer be able to run.
    > In place of the armor plate or elytra, we would have the backpack.
