Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I like the idea I larger boats, I don't think you'd be able to craft them I imagine you would have to find them or repair a shipwreck somehow, but I don't think guns even flintlocks should be added to begin, I feel it wouldn't fit, but I would like to see cannons

I think also what we need to add to the nautical theme is proper beaches. At the moment the sand/coastline doesn't gradually become the ocean you get to a point where it just drops all of a sudden so a more realistic beach would be really cool and we could have things such as sea shells and palm trees and even rock pools with coral in them would be cool we need these things because the beaches are unrealistic and are lacking life and the turtles being added was a good start but we need a beach update desperately.

I suggest boats that are 3x6 blocks big. Chests should be placeable and up to two passengers should be able to be in a boat. However only one player can “drive” the boat. Also you can create a flagstaff from iron and wood and attach a banner or wool for a flag.

Love it, but rather than guns since we have crossbows, what about a harpoon launcher that shoots bolts that do extra damage to all sea creatures? Also, maybe a cannon instead, which can be mounted on a minecart, boat, or cannon stand and used to shoot small cannon balls that break a 2x2 radius? Boat variations need to exist though

I personally think maybe there should just be a canoe - style boat, which can hold a chest or a Shulker box (chest would drop all items when picked up) plus it could carry more passengers (like 3-4 plus the operator)

I have an ideal setup to it you would have a standard rowboat but you would click an edit button that would allow you to puts blocks on the sides of the boat which would make it so you could design your own boat and to make it drivable from the top floor you would have a steering wheel that you would attache to a block on the boat.

In order to craft the bigger boats, I think that you need to simply build the boat in the water out of blocks and then once you place a rudder, steering wheel, and sail on the boat it becomes an entity that you can sail in. I also think that the direction of the wind should change how fast you can go on these ships.

maybe if they just made the classic rowboat like mine carts so you'd the classic boat, a boat with a chest, boat with hopper? and also maybe boat with furnace for like as a faster boat.

Maybe you could unsink shipwrecks by like doing some kind of ritual thing like spawning a wither and add some new mob like drowned sailors (yes like the mob) and make it so that so when you defeat the captain (which is like a godly vindicator) you would be able to unsink the shipwreck and you would have a realistically sized boat compared to shipwrecks that you could hold mobs on and use for transporting storage (of corse this has to be semi endgame because of shulkers and all that) however you wouldn’t be able to add more storage than the naturally generated chests and you can’t move the boat out of the water

Also, I think the gun idea miiiiight be like very lowly reasonable as long as you made them not do a ton of damage and be worse than bows and crossbows but I don’t really think the idea of adding guns is very good because we don’t want Minecraft to become a MMORPG, yeah , that would suck

How about using the already crafted boat in the crafting table to make different sized boats like:

Our already in-game boat Crafting Recipe: [which I would also change the name to Raft instead of boat]

    Shovel = S
    Oak Planks = P

    P S P
    P P P
    0 0 0

Other Crafting Boat Recipes. With an already crafted boat “Raft” = R

    (Trawler) :

    0 0 0
    R 0 R
    0 R 0

Can collect fist while boating around!

    (Boat):

    0 0 0
    R 0 R
    R R R

Can hold up to 2 other mobs and one chest or 2 chests and one other mob.

Or just up to 3 mobs, and no chest, and vise versa

    (Cabin Cruiser) :

    0 R 0
    R 0 R
    R R R

Can hold up to 4 other mobs, 4 chests and a bed. You can also move around the boat while you are not stirring. This boat would also be more decorative than the others and a more travel friendly boat

    ( Shakira ):
Which you could even go as far as it basically being a movable house on the sea. With other players/mobs being able to move around / or just lost of space to move lots of cargo (items) around!

With the crafting recipe using an item dropped by an kraken or other boss?!

    Item drop = ?

    R ? R
    R ? R
    R R R

Also with these boats; you as a player would get to choose where you put your chests and beds of course. This is after all Minecraft for goodness sakes! We just need the boats’ frame and knowledge of what we can do, with said boat.

But idk these are just some ideas (:

Also, it could be possible to put a chest in a normal boat to make a transport boat

Yes, I agree with building ships, though it shouldn't be complicated or you make one by accident. Perhaps you could establish a ship using a steering wheel like there how it is done in mods, idk. Obviously vanilla should implement this as simple structures, not giant moving structures of blocks.

Minecraft definitely does need more manufacturable structures.

I've been waiting so long to see build-able boats like the old Archimedes ship mod. Sadly that one hasn't been updated in so long. But it could be build with something like a structure block or some sort of scaffolding type thing and a steering wheel to finish it off. Probably a stretch but I miss building boats.

I feel like crafting these would require you to create the different parts and assemble them by building them. Such as the mast, deck, frame, and wheel. Sorry I don’t know boats very well. This way you could potentially build different types of ships with different combinations of the parts. There would be a few specific guidelines when building it so that the game recognizes it as a boat.

You could also customize them by adding little things like redstone, crafting tables, dispensers, etc. But there would be a weight limit. If you put too many things on the boat, it might sink it.

Played around on creative, and also found a ship wreak on a beach in one of my survival worlds. There are several parts to a ship that would be key, and define the size of the ship. However, since a major part of Minecraft is creativity, being able to actually build custom ships would be better than something predefined.

Three crucial blocks would be the rudder, helm wheel, and Stem. The Helm Wheel would be the position from where the ship is controlled, the Rudder defines the back of the ship, and the Stem sets the front of the ship. The ship would turn base on a point midway between the Stem and Rudder.

Optional blocks would include the Mast, Sail, Anchor, Propeller, and Ballast. Of these, the Anchor is the only one that I am certain of a function for, as it would be how a ship would get locked in place.

Other than that, the rest of the ship should be up to the player.

I REALLY LOVE THIS THEME AND IDEA!!! I've also wanted Minecraft to have a pirate-themed update and to add biger boats for a long time, big ones that many people or mobs can be on at the same time, like pirate ships! I really hope this gets enough votes to be recognized by Minecraft!

I think it should be crafted using multiple regular boats. The more boats you craft in, the more seats you have.

Maybe blocks can be placed on the boats?

I think that may be cool.
