    Please see:

EVERYTHING WE ANNOUNCED AT MINECON EARTH 2018 for news about PANDAS!

We're super excited about these updates and look forward to seeing further discussion on this idea here.

I agree. Just having the polar bear is just....sorry to say this but...boring. They were able to do this with rabbits so maybe for bears too. They could change the spawn egg to just 'bear' and the skin could vary depending on the biome.

I love this and fully support this idea.

I would suggest Black Bears be in the Taiga, Brown Bears in the Forest, and Pandas for the Cherry Blossom/Bamboo biome if one is added.

Bears in real life are lonely and territorial creatures, so there would be only one or two bears in a bunch of chunks that could represent his territory, if the bear sees a player or another mob in his area it would chase him until his target got out.

To recognize his territory there could be his footprints and scratched trees (trees with some stripped logs).

The interaction of the bear with the environment would be:

    • edge his claws on the trees turning the logs in stripped logs.
    • scratching his back on the tree.
    • every (number of ticks) the bear becomes hungry so he goes out of his territory and consumes the first resources of food he finds until he's full. He could fill his belly killing passive mobs and consuming berries.

(optional) maybe every bear could have his own diet (like the panda and his behaviors) a carnivore's one where the bear hunts mobs he finds (wolves, foxes, rabbits...), a herbivore's one where he eats berries, crops, mushrooms (and kills mooshrooms) and a fishing one where he swims in a river and kills fishes.
Otherwise you could make the bear omnivorous and approaches towards different mobs in different ways.

Add Blackbears then Make bears able to breed. Then as a secret achievement if you Breed polar bear with black bear you can get the rare Panda bear.

A great thing about Minecraft is that things don't need to make sense.

The bears should be neutral(hostile mobs have to be fantasy).

    Black bears

Less aggressive(if you hit them they will run, but if you chase them they will then attack you)

Spawn in oak and birch forests, and flower forests.

They will take honey from bee hives if it is full, breaking the bee hive and making the bees angry.

The bees can not hurt them(they have a thick coat IRL).

They will attack sheep, cows, and salmon for food, and will eat the remains.

They will eat berries off the bushes, and are unaffected by their spikes.

After eating they will not forage for honey or berries, or kill any animals for 1 game day.

They can climb up trees and sit in the leaves.

Solitary, but has a chance to spawn with up to two cubs.

    Grizzly bears

    Aggressive(will attack when provoked)

To provoke, go near its babies, stay nearby for to long, or go near it when it is eating.

Grizzlies will forage for berries and kill salmon, cows, and sheep.

After eating will not forage or kill for 1 game day.

Will spawn in taiga and extreme hills.

They will attack wolves and foxes(wolves will fight back but foxes will run).

Solitary, but can spawn with up to two cubs.

    Extra info

Cubs are passive and will eat with their parent

When black bear parents eat honey the cubs will sit down and watch.

Cubs will play with each other or their parent, rolling around together

brown bears or grizzly or whatever you wanna call them should Ben halfway between the polar bear and panda in size, maybe less wide than the panda perhaps it could be about 16 pixels wide at the widest part (so still wider than the polar bear) but slightly shorter in length than the polar bear at 30 pixels long (but still longer than the panda) maybe, however it could be shorter in length if they reduced the panda in size a little as it does seem a bit too big in my opinion.

Yeah and I think they should have more mob interactions. For example the black bear in taigas would battle with wolves for territory, and both would battle over a rabbit or cows. Also since foxes are the fastest they could try to avoid the bears hunting them. Also deer would be amazing just so that the animals can hunt them

We already have pandas and polar bears do to complete the set grizzly bears should be added into those taiga biomes with the really tall trees. And maybe even koalas as well

I'd love if they added some bears in forests made the daytime overworld a bit more dangerous. What if a bear's hostility was directly affected by how much food you have on you?

Brown bears and black bears would be interesting new animals, in addition to the current polar bears and pandas. You’ve probably never heard of these, but sun bears, sloth bears, and spectacled bears would be be great additions as well.

I completely agree with this. Polar Bears and Pandas are both pretty useless but added much-needed unique animals to the cold biomes and jungle biomes,

    But what Brown Bears?

Forest biomes are extremely common but practically empty of interesting animals apart from bees.

How cool would it be to be able to feed a brown bear and have it lead you to a bee nest? Or for them to raid beehives for their honey similarly to how rabbits attack crops?

Having a bear specifically for one biome is super boring, especially when the biome isn't a very common one either, I want to see bears in forest also

PLEASE add new variations of wolves, in real life there are MANY different types theres Arctic wolves, Mexican wolves, Timber wolves, Tindra wolves etc etc. Wolves we're announced in the game 1.4 beta patch and hasn't been updated since I feel we NEED different breeds as soon as possible. On the topic of animals we NEED more then just 2 bears!! Grizzly bears would be nice aswell as black bears, as someone previously commented it would be nice to just have a hear spawn egg and according to each biome is what breed they would be. Moving on another suggestion the Oak and birch biome should be updated!! The trees arent anything like they should be there so tiny unless they spawn a certain way PLEASE make them larger then they are now. Last but not least PLEASE ADD SHADERS FOR FREE AND MAKE IT GOOD!!! Adding to that moving leaves, grass and water!!! Thank you.

You could breed a polar bear with a grizzly bear to make a pizzly bear (real hybrid animal) and get an achievement.

But what is the purpose? We don’t want another polar bear that has no use, maybe they drop a fur made for a different type of Armor?

Grizzly Bears sounds awesome. I would love to see grizzly bears with different personalities like the pandas. Some are more aggressive than others and some are more friendlier than others (In real life, not so much)
