Minecraft Console Edition becomes a "pay-to-win" game due to players not having the option to obtain custom skins. Privileged player from other platforms are enabled to freely express themselves through skins, sometimes modifying the skin to make them capable of camouflaging on certain blocks, reduce the visible size, and become almost invisible which gives them an advantage in certain games produced by the Minecraft community. This issue was dealt by Mojang AB making "skin packs" available for players to purchase through the use of Minecoins, an ingame currency that is purchased via credit. This has resulted in players being required to pay for these skin packs in order to have an advantage in games.

Mojang AB should make custom skins available for all platforms in order to maintain a fair game community. I would be more forgiving if the ability to obtain custom skins should be made available after a monetary purchase. But again, I does not resolves the "pay-to-win" problem we are currently having.

I have been waiting to play Minecraft: Windows 10 edition since its debut in 2015 because I learned, rather quickly, that it does not allow me to use my own skin, or my well-loved texture pack; and it does not allow user-generated mods such as magic, more creatures, and fancy biomes. While waiting, the older versions of Minecraft have become increasingly laggy, bug-prone, crash happy, and difficult to find servers for. This is presumably due to the existence and heavy advertisement of Minecraft: latest and greatest, Windows 10 edition. So I again picked up Minecraft Windows 10 last night while tinkering around with my brand new Xbox and the latest Minecraft pre-loaded onto its hard drive, bought out of nostalgia for the game my computer can't really handle like it used to do before. And I hated the not-my-favorite texture pack and the fact the hand on the character wasn't from my own skin.

I wished I had not bought the Xbox with Minecraft pre-loaded onto it. Nostalgia ruined.

I would love to play Minecraft again. Please allow us to use our own skins and our own mods. We'll even run them through some sort of vetted system you might have for them. That would be perfect. You want them vetted, but still let us design our things.

I don't want to be some sort of fire wizard alien mythology creature poptart thing. I want the skin that looks like me, that I made myself. And the scenery around me should look like the pack I've cobbled together over the years, painstakingly brought forward from version to version because it is so well-loved. I have collected armor visuals from mods which had more interesting armor types than your solid colored plates. My enchantment color is more red than pink. Walls look more realistic than cartoony. Nobody else has to see my texture pack, but I do literally have to 'see' something to play the game. I may as well like it!

Allowing us to view our own texture packs should reduce those numerous requests of Can YOU Change Enchantment From Ugly Pink Pweez? Etc.

Now that someone is going around deleting our skin-related posts if they're not stuck under this short, uninspiring one, this concept is noticing a distinct lack of votes.  But the concept is WAY more important than, say, campfires.  So don't forget to VOTE!!

That would have to be the console designers responsibility if you want to get to make your own skins, but I see what you guys are saying it being possible and all..

Can we be able to make our own custom skins on pocket edition

  • Avatar
    Rien von bruh commented

uhhh both minecraft mobile (pocket edition) and minecraft for windows 10 let you import custom skins just fine, only the console ports dont have it.

i would love seeing this tho, nintendo switch edittion should totally just be able to load a picture from the micro sd...
but that might potentially lead to exploits with loading files resulting in homebrew exploits simmilar to 3ds exploits......
nintendo will not like that one bit and thats probably the reason it doesnt already exist

I really want this in Minecraft Bedrock for consoles, because I don't really want to pay to use a skin I want. I even make my own skins but i can't use them because, well. They aren't supported on Minecraft Bedrock on Consoles don't support the feature.

It would be so cool to let other people on console see what you're real style is.   Makes you more like you. :)

Come on Mojang, we need this kind of feature. Windows 10 users can do it and mobile users can do it so why can't Xbox One and Nintendo Switch users do it.

I thought all versions of Minecraft was supposed to be the same no matter what system you are on

Yo people, wondering how the heck to do this on the current Xbox Version, would be nice to know when or how to do it.

I truly agree with this subject this would be a major impact to the game itself. For instance, a person who plays consoles most of the time, I truly would love to see a major change to skins where you can change how you look not by picking one, but instead by creating a skin that you saw online or even something truly unique. Mojang look further into this for everyone because this will increase your revenue in total for all systems.

I agree consoles should have custom skin

Most people do it so unsafe and scary because they could get hacked

  • Avatar
    Isaiahmag commented

What if we had a option to toggle on/off custom skins on players and the possibility to allow custom skins on friends only. This would make things easier for the people who do and don't want to see custom skins.

This would make bedrock version seem even more like a not less limited version on consoles because on pc you can have stuff like mods and custom skins but if it can be on console that would be a dream come true!! and every console fan would be so happy!

It's been nearly a year since Helen tweeted "Custom skins will be on Xbox One Bedrock very soon". I'm getting very frustrated about the absence of details from Mojang about this. She likely wouldn't have tweeted this if copyright was still an issue so there must be some stuff going on behind the scenes that I would like to know about. Is it to juice as much money from people as possible with skin packs?

So much hype was built up around the time of this tweet. The hype has fizzled out since then and now nobody talks about it because Mojang has had it's lips sealed since then. It's obvious that people want this seeing as how this has 239 votes so im wondering why such a popular topic is being ignored for so long.
