No, if you can afford a massive gaming setup you can afford Minecraft for 20 dollars. It costs money so we don't have to buy DLC and if they did make DLC nobody will like them. Also, they will not have any way to get money if it is free.

It is posts like this that make me disappointed that there is not a downvote system and never will be.

This honestly needs to be deleted. I don’t think you understand that they need to make money to update their game. Plus after you download the PC version of Minecraft, You have access to mods, Shaders and a bunch of other things. Instead they should make the bedrock edition cheaper, I think this is fair because we don’t have as many features as Java Edition does, And we usually have to wait months before getting it.

Seriously dude, games cost money for a reason. The devs deserve compensation for their work, and they can't get that compensation if the game is free. Not only that, but it'd shorten Minecraft's lifespan by several years unless they added.. well.. ads. Which ads would just chase off players and kill the game anyways.

So someone can buy a massive gaming setup, but can't afford a $26.95 game? I remember buying games for $60.00. This is why games nowadays are early access, prone with bugs, and often are abandoned. Support your game developers and stop asking for free stuff as if you're entitled for it. Remember, people had to build this game, fix it's bugs, and continue to develop it. This is why it costs $26.95. Be happy that it's not $60 like games used to be.

Roblox is also nothing like Minecraft, not even remotely a replacement.

Free games have these 3 things: minor income, ads and in-app purchases. Games that are free have smaller updates. If Minecraft was free, it would lose money. Plus, we don't want to spend $500.99 on a currency nor do we want to add a 126 to our name just so we can use it. Once you get Minecraft, you have *FREE* access to what makes the game better and you don't need a huge gaming setup because Minecraft can run on a $30 laptop. So I conclude, no, no, no and just outright NO.

I don't know. Too many "free" games are quite literally microtransaction hellscapes. True, we have skins and texture packs and mashup packs available in the store, but those are entirely cosmetic (and I've purchased quite a few myself), but if you make this game free, you are guaranteeing that lootboxes will be introduced.

The developers pour countless hours into developing the game. Not only that, but devolving games cost money. Making it free would be horrible

Your logic here is flawed, you say they'll lose money if they don't make it free. Either way, they'll lose money, and Roblox isn't a replacement for Minecraft. They're two separate games.

And how do you think Mojang is going to make money?

I purchased Minecraft around 2010-2011 and I'm still playing it. I've also purchased games from the call of duty franchise that cost 80$CAD, guess which game I'm still playing. Yup Minecraft, Minecraft has a very reasonable price for the amount of gameplay you can get out of it. for the almost 10 years I've been playing Minecraft I still find things to do/build weather it is from the regular FREE updates that they add to the game or countless mods fans create. the only version of Minecraft I can kind of see being free is the bedrock edition, as that is partially monetized by the MINECOINS, however, mine coins are used largely to purchase community-made content and if Minecraft bedrock became free the creators would get less and that is not fair to them, as some creators have been able to make it their full-time jobs (which is unbelievable to imagine that its possible now btw). Anyway Minecraft costs less than half the price of a new game these days, and in my opinion, it is better than most new games these days.

TL:DR Minecraft is sold at a reasonable price for the content, and free updates, and hours you can get from it.

    1. They need money to continue developing the game.
    2. Not a good argument.
    3. Minecraft should probably be raised in price, seeing the game's quality.
    4. Roblox monetizes everything.

Minecraft.... free? HECK NO. Kid, if Minecraft were free, Minecraft wouldn't be popular. It costs money for a good reason. If you don't like it being too expensive, just go with Pocket Edition on iOS or Android.

For how much entertainment I've got from this game, 20$ when I bought was a bargain! I would have spent over 200$ on this game over the years. The fact that this game is as cheap as it is, with free updates is amazing. There is nothing wrong with the current system. Realms are a deal as well, loving the feature so far, although I'd like to see more powerful servers.

I don't have any solid proof, but I'd wager I have well over 3000 Hours in this voxel game. No regrets.

Honestly if you're cashing out to get a rig to play minecraft, You've got plenty money already.

However consoles/ win10 could be on a different system, I believe with all the paid services/skins etc a move to free to play could be feasible. I just don't see any point as I despise that version and will stay as far away from it as long as I can.

    I want a downvote function.

This is the opposite of true. MC can be played on a toaster, $27 is not even close to what they should charge, and how would they make money if they made it free?

If Minecraft were free, Mojang would lose money, and they need it to run the game, create updates, and to buy their equipment. So, they will not make Minecraffree. Sorry, dude.

Going free? Not bloody likely. But, I think Realms should be separate from local-play licensing. Then, users who started a Realm on Xbox or Switch could manage their Realm from Windows 10 or Android, for as long as that Realm exists.

To be honest, a lot of us wish it was free. But really, the 27 dollars was worth it! Minecraft is a game where you can design, build, and have just such a big amount of fun with friends or not! I also agree the price should be lowered, but only to about 21$.

I don't think minecraft should become free, but mabymake it like the java version, where you buy it once on your account, and then download it on all the platforms you have. Cause it's a bit incovenent, to have to buy it on IOS, Google Play, Amazon Store, Windows Store, etc, if it was a free download on those stores but then you have to log into an account that allready owns it.

I think 27$ is a reasonable price for a game like minecraft. If someone can afford a "Massive gaming setup" then paying 27 bucks for minecraft shouldn't be the problem.
